Thank you for the explanation, but I'd kindly ask only that you guys refrain from using time-lapses in these short tutorial videos. As a novice user, it's extremely hard to grasp and replicate the texture structure of the last portion of the video, what with all the layered smudges on top of each other due to the 5x speed. Either way, thank for this awesome render engine and keep up the great work!
@ChaosCorona4 жыл бұрын
TY for the feedback! We keep the timelapse parts to things that are not critical, to keep video length shorter, and we do try to avoid them in most places (certainly anywhere that seeing the actual steps is important to the topic at hand), but we'll keep it in mind for future videos! Thanks! Tom

What about a new video on how to do that in Cinema 4D? That link/dummy approach I don't think it is possible.
@ChaosCorona2 жыл бұрын
Howdy! If you're referring to the workflow demoed at 3m17s you can recreate that in Cinema 4D by right clicking on a parameter, selecting Xpresso and making it a "Driver". Then you'll want to link that parameter to the same parameter in all the other Triplanar shaders by doing the same procedure except for choosing "Set Driven (Absolute) as the last step. That'll link those parameters together and when you change the "Driver" all of the rest will change the same. This works for checkboxes and other parameters as well. It's a bit of a Cinema 4D thing but we'll put this on the list of topics we'll want to explore in our future tutorials. Hope the above helps, if it doesn't, let's continue going at it :) Nejc
@Ricardo-de9ju2 жыл бұрын
@@ChaosCorona Cool, thanks again. Unfortunately I'm not the Xpresso guy yet, I'll dig into that sometime in the future.
@ChaosCorona2 жыл бұрын
@@Ricardo-de9ju If it helps, this workflow doesn't actually involve using Xpresso. If you just right click on the parameter and follow the instructions it should be set up with just a couple of clicks - and you don't have to open up the Xpresso editor even once :) Would definitely recommend giving it a spin. Once we've got through covering some of the newer features, we'll revisit some older topics and rework them with the latest information, and with our new approach to creating tutorials. HI ARE YOU SELL THE BOOK OF CHAOS CORONA ?
@ChaosCorona Жыл бұрын
Hi! We don't do written manuals, Corona changes too much too often, so we focus on video content instead. You can check out the tutorials here on KZbin, but also see the newly launched Corona Academy kzbin.info/www/bejne/nV7Rhn9-j56abqssi=rRbRinbYBXF01Elf. For the written word, we do also have our comprehensive documentation section of the website at docs.chaos.com/category/corona. Last but not least, there is a book not directly from us but from a close friend of the Corona team, you can check that out here www.francescolegrenzi.com/en/corona-the-guide/ . Hope something here is just what you were looking for! Thanks! Tom

Hello! I'm a bit late, but i have a question. How can you avoid texture stretching when making changes on the model? Tnx!
@ChaosCorona Жыл бұрын
Not entirely sure what you mean, posting on the forums would be better as then you could share video or images that showcase the example you have in mind. This comes down to UV mapping, so depends on what changes you are making to the model,. Things to look into are using Real World Scale, or using World Space rather than Local Space, but does depend on what you are doing and what result you want. To share more info, you can post in forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php?board=29.0 - thanks! Tom

@@ChaosCorona Hi Tom! I'm making a procedural terrain shader with the triplanar map, but when i extruded new geometry the shader on the extruded geometry was stretched. Then i figured out that i needed to put a uvw map on top of the modifier stack and that solved my problem. Hope i cleared things out. Thank you for your reply! Matija

Where to find corona portal material in corona 6?
@ChaosCorona4 жыл бұрын
You don't - portals are no longer required, thanks to the new Adaptive Environment Sampler. See the release blog at blog.corona-renderer.com/corona-renderer-6-for-3ds-max-released/ for this and all other changes in 6. Thanks! Tom

Hi there I have a question..how would you exclude an object let's say a curtain from environment light? Please help I have been searching everywhere but didn't find an answer
@ChaosCorona4 жыл бұрын
Since Corona Renderer is physically realistic, you can't exclude it from the environment lighting. What you could do instead depends on what kind of effect you want to achieve. For example, you could set up LightMix with the environment lighting in one LightSelect, add a mask that has only the curtain in it, then use that mask in post to remove the curtain from the LightSelect layer that was specifically for the environment lighting. Or you could do two renders, one with env lighting on, one with it off, and again use a mask layer to isolate the curtain in post and overlay the results from the "no environment lighting" render onto the "environment lighting" render. To be honest though, I can't think of why you would want to do this, as it would most likely look very wrong :) Thanks! Tom

That's more a general Max thing, so we don't have any specific tutorial about it at the moment. We'll add it to the list of things to consider :) Also, you can check 3ds Max documentation on Controller nodes (e.g. knowledge.autodesk.com/support/3ds-max/learn-explore/caas/CloudHelp/cloudhelp/2017/ENU/3DSMax/files/GUID-C1828D93-F764-4F9C-92AB-A5C0BB20831E-htm.html ) in the meantime. Hi, thx for the tutorial. I'm a C4D User and tried to understand a thing... but... it's too fast and the things are too compressed. It's really hard to follow. It would be cool if you show the functions at 1 example and step by step

The good news is that when time allows, we'll be creating a C4D version of the tutorial, and we'll be sure to take that feedback into account when creating that. (Unfortunately, I can't give you an estimated date on when that will be possible). Meantime, do feel free to ask over on the forums with any questions, as support and the community will be happy to help out with any sections that went too fast and weren't clear as a result (forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php).
