Glad you found it useful! It's probably technically impossible to convert without the other engine installed, because without it the shaders and materials have no parameters available, they are just "black boxes" so then we can't convert as we have no idea what their settings are.... since the trial (even expired) works, though, it is easy enough to have it installed :) If you wanted to ask the more technical members of the team to confirm if my understanding is correct, you can always ask this question over on the forums forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php Thanks! Corona converter 7.0 need improvements, i had to roll back to corona 6 bcos of converter issues and time consuming materials corrections.

Developers and support can't monitor KZbin comments, please either report on the dedicated forum thread (forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php?topic=33253.0) or send in a ticket (support.corona-renderer.com/hc/en-us/articles/4402983255313-How-to-report-issues-3ds-Max-) - whichever option you choose, we will need to know more detail about what those "issues and time consuming materials corrections" are, in order for us to investigate and see what changes might be possible to clear those up. To corona, we are not here to ask for support, we are here to warn people abt corona 7. It is wasting my time to upgrade and messing up my project.

@@KatodeDevilus The thing is, if you post on the forums as mentioned, then those things you want to "warn" about actually get fixed - this is better for everyone than just "warning" people - and indeed in this case, we have already been collecting the issues people report in a dedicated thread, so we can make sure we fix what people find problematic with the converter (it's also worth people knowing that we gather feedback in order to improve things too :) ). The upgrade to corona 7 turns most of my plants into glass material or turns refraction value to 1. Pretty annoying when we’re crushing on deadlines. Not really sure what’s causing corona converter to automatically apply those settings but Corona 6 never gave us this problem

Best thing is not to run the Corona Converter for scenes where that happens, since the Legacy Material will render just as well as it did 6 (new objects and materials in the scene could be created in Physical if you like, mixing and matching Legacy and Physical is fine!). It happens because the Corona 6 materials are set up non-realistically (even if the result looks fine), and the Converter then has to guess the "best" way to turn that into physically correct results. For feedback on the Converter, please post over on the dedicated forum thread at forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php?topic=33253.0 so that the developers will see the feedback, and know what to look into for improving the converter. Corona is trying to be realistic and they push users to use their physical materials. Lols. The converter is messing up all the vray's related kind of things. It took me forever for the first stage when rendering. Maybe vray materials are so fake and corona is realistic. Corona nowaday is something for the professional only. Normal users who come from Vray must have a brainwash to use corona.

I try to convert a car model from vray to corona. After convert process materials(colors) are changed on model. What dovu thınk am ı doıng wrong

There are no plans for any GPU rendering, either pure GPU or hybrid, in the foreseeable future, sorry. corona-renderer.com/features/proudly-cpu-based remains our guideline for now. Tom

This convertes is being a nightmare. Convert some material to metal, IOR to 1, a map inside IOR with no refrection. A miss a option to convert to Legacy Material as well.

Where to get and how to install previous version of the Corona converter, there are no "disable displacement maps" option in current version (2.04)

Not straightforward at all. How does it handle V-ray scenes in Cinema 4D nowadays? Do we need to convert the same way?

Like Max, a lot of V-Ray things will just render without conversion. The converter itself needs some work, planned for Corona 9 if all goes well trello.com/c/pfXGwURb/137-improve-corona-converter - thanks! Tom

So Corona RoundEdges is no longer used? It's legacy?

Hello! The RoundEdges functionality is still there - just drag a CoronaRoundEdges map into the bump slot of your material and it'll bevel those edges. Have fun! Nejc

Hey. I work for company that makes games. I've created models for them in zbrush and textured in max and corona and i cant import them to unity. Can you do tutorial how to transfer corona models to unity or unreal engine ??

Hi! Thank you for the request, and we'll keep it in mind - that said, our first priority has to be tutorials that apply to everyone using Corona, so our first focus will always be on our software, rather than "how to work with other software" since only a small subset of users will have or use that software (and arguably, it would be equally on the makers of that software to make that tutorial....). So while we will keep this in mind for the future, it will be quite far down the list, sorry. Tom

​@@ChaosCorona Ok, i understand so maybe you will explain how to transfer model created in 3ds max with corona materials and texture to After effects C4D with vray or corona engine. This will also help me a lot because i need to create animations with this models too and have similar issue. Thanks for aswer, your tutorials are great and very helpful.

@@GeeVoo As far as I understand it and last I looked (unless things have changed recently) C4D in After Effects does not allow external render engines, so there would be no way to use Corona (or V-Ray) there due to that limitation of that version of C4D. Hope this helps, Tom.

Wrong video name. The video should be called "Conversion from Vray scene to Corona, VIa Corona Converter ", since other formats (exept Vray) are not taken into account. Personally, I have a corona converter 2.4.0 that is not able to convert an simple OBJ model that receives "Physical Material" at the input to 3D Max 2023 woth Corona Renderer 10.2. Note! that this worked well in older versions (before v 7.0) of Corona Renderer.

We have never had conversion from a new version to an old version, so we would not have a converter that reads Corona 7 materials and creates Corona 6 materials. If you mean something like "allow the Corona 7 converter to skip converting Corona 6 materials and leave them unchanged", please post the suggestion in the Corona Converter thread in the forums so that the development team can see your suggestion - forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php?topic=33253.0 Thanks! Im not a professional corona user but Corona 7 dissapointed me alots. Corona converter is doing stupid thing when convert vray mat to corona physical material and giving them a preset with metal finish. I have tree leaves glossy like metal, I have leather glossy like metal. For people who just imports scene for quick modelling, Corona 7 is the worst. I dont know why they push people to use corona physical material for vray while there is corona legacy material which very similar to vray mat. 16gb of Ram nowaday is not enough for this renderer. Corona is not for everyone these days. It took forever to prepare the scene.

Hi! We have been gathering feedback on the Converter since the release of 7 in the feedback thread at forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php?topic=33253.0, in order to make improvements to how it works (the metal appearance happens when the material wasn't strictly physically correct in the Legacy material). Keep an eye on the daily builds for when updates appear for testing! Thanks! Tom
