Most Ghanaians do not know that Ashanti was NEVER a British colony but rather a protectorate WITHIN the Gold Coast until 1945. Meaning, while the British were occupying what is known as Ghana today, they had no control in the Ashanti Kingdom. They however had some sort of territorial relationship since the areas the British controlled were surrounding the Ashanti borders.

Not accurate. Ashanti was a protectorate until 1900. After Ashanti was conquered in 1901,Ashanti was fully incorporated as part of the colony

@@tvs9978 Sir! Ashanti was “A BRITISH PROTECTORATE” TILL 1945. There’s a difference between being colonized and being a protectorate. 🙄🙄🙄. Meaning, despite British control in the Gold Coast at the time, the British chose to provide Ashanti EXTRA protection within the Gold Coast due to several reasons. In todays world, there are some sovereign countries that are protectorates of the United States. Google is free! YES! After the Yaa Asantewaa war, the British gained some level of control over Ashanti but their colonial laws did not full operate within the Ashanti Kingdom UNTIL 1945. KNOW YOUR HISTORY! 🙄

@@tvs9978 When did the Asante became a protectorate??
@tvs9978
@tvs9978 Жыл бұрын
@@ericdickens542 Technically, in 1896 when Britain occupied Asante territories. Asante had already been defeated by the Brits in 1874 but the British Parliament was not interested in expanding its West African territories at the time so Asante wasn't annexed in 1874. However, once the Brits saw in the 1890s that the Asante were trying to revive their Confederacy and had reabsorbed Bono and Ahafo, and once they saw France trying to expand into the North, that's when the Brits invaded Kumasi in 1896 and established control. Later in 1900-1901,when the British Governor Sir Arnold Hodgson demanded possession of the Golden Stool, that's when there was a rebellion led by Yaa Asantewaa which as we know was crushed by the Brits although the Asante managed to hold on to the golden stool. The Ashanti Order in Council was made on 26 September 1901 and on 1 January 1902, Asante was fully annexed by the Brits as a separate Crown colony (ie separate from the Gold Coast colony) with its administration undertaken by a British Chief Commissioner under the authority of the Governor of the Gold Coast Colony.

As I sat here in Florida watching this coronation, I got sick to my stomach and outraged because knowing what atrocities that England and the West has committed against my motherland. I think it is shameful that no leaders of the West have come forward to apologise for the hell and destruction they have caused to Africa. From what the news broadcasters were saying during this ceremony, Charles is going to open up all documents and reveal the history associated with Britian and Africa. I hope he does because he as well as other Western countries have a lot of explaining to do. Much Love Africa!❤

It’s perhaps a small mercy that the slave trade, which was endemic for centuries throughout Africa and the Arab world, was eventually abolished by the British in 1874 and by the huge efforts and sacrifices of the Royal Navy’s West Africa Squadron.
@cypriantertullian7495
@cypriantertullian7495 Жыл бұрын
@@anthonyferris8912 ...The British like using that lie to pat themselves on the backs, that they ended the Slave Trade, when in actuality they did not. They just changed the strategy. Instead of taking Africans off their continent into slavery, why not just enslave them on their own continent? And that's exactly what they did. They became the biggest colonizer in Africa, followed by France. It's like a bank robber who decides to quit robbing banks by stick-ups, and instead becomes a bank manager and steals from inside. Same robber, new stealing strategy.
@graceforalways6445
@graceforalways6445 Жыл бұрын
Let go of the outrage please. Africa's leaders have done arguably more harm to the Continent than any colonizer ever did. Let us leave the past behind, stop the corruption, all the money from Africa going to Swiss banks and help the people!
@cypriantertullian7495
@cypriantertullian7495 Жыл бұрын
@@graceforalways6445...Corrupt African leaders are mere puppets in the hands of the same colonizer. The Colonizer never really left the African continent. He just pretended to. While in 1885 He came through the front door, now he comes through the back door. He has a puppet with a black face to help him continue looting the continent. If African people try to put into office a person who loves his people, his country and wants to develop it, and resists being turned into a puppet by the former colonizer, the colonizers hate him, and so come up with a strategy to eliminate him. So it happened to Lumumba, Sankala, Nkrumah, Gaddafi and many more. France is still economically colonizing 14 West African countries. Yes, the colonizer is still alive and well on the African continent. He never left. So, we can't talk about corruption in Africa, without bringing up the colonizer in the conversation.

Slavery was also endemic in the Asante Empire. In his analysis of slavery in African societies Boniface I. Obichere writes that: “The philosophical attitude to slavery in Asante was that it was a natural institution…time honoured, practiced by the ancestors and sanctioned and approved by the Gods.” As an aggressive society, the Asante had a great demand for slaves to provide military service. Slave labor actually formed a significant component of the economy according to Ivor Wilks: “Slaves were in fact of crucial importance to the Asante economy not so much for the export trade as for satisfying the labour requirements of agriculture and industry.

@BANTU Queen as a Bantu, and with the understanding that more Bantu peoples were sold into slavery than any other group but also that Ghana/ Gold Coast has NzO Bantu groups, why would you be looking to ANY group in that region for an apology to you? The thing is, if you were from any of the ethnic donations there it would be understood that the various inter ethnic conflicts created POWs. Those amongst the group's that were conquered that could not or would not be incorporated into the ground that conquered them were the ones removed from those societies. A group that conquered and sold POWs by the hundreds in the 1600s to the Portuguese could themselves have been conquered and sold by the thousands in the 1700s to the Danes and Dutch. So before playing victim centuries after the fact when there has been gestures towards reconciliation extended, one has to consider and ask themselves how many folks their ancestors were responsible for sending West before finding themselves on a boat? In your case, that question should be posed with regards to the specific Bantu groups that you hail from. Those groups would not be found amongst us. As such, the apology would have what meaning?

This pitch-Black village chief scrambled to go smile at Charles III after he *explicitly* stated to Meagan Markle he didn’t want baby Archie to have dark skin. The UK royals don’t like Meagan because she’s mixed, so what does that tell you what they think of a whole African?
@sandraatkins2539

Actually Meghan would be classified as a White woman in the Chief's culture. A completely different racial vibe exists in the continent if Africa. Moreover, that man never made such a statement to Meghan. Even though, you dont like him, why make up a lie about him. If the truth be known, what you accuse the king of saying is a commonly-held sentiment among many Black Americans. This self-hatred is a very sad, sick situation.

So you perhaps didn’t see Meghan and Harry’s wedding that cost Charles and the UK tax pater an estimated £32million, Or her in her £390,000 wedding dress, when being walked down the aisle Charles, who stood in for her estranged father. The lady didn’t accuse any of them ‘explicitly’, you made that up. She is a phoney, who is estranged from own entire her family and hasn’t had the decency to even introduce her children and husband to her own father...Oh and by the way, she's Canadian and not 'African'.
@TheCWMHALL

Nothing to do with Markle's bi racial heritage , rather the appalling disrespectful behaviour to the BRF . The woman had no intention to be a working royal , money and glory was her goal . Prince Harry , had he married a true African woman with decorum and manners , everyone would have applauded him . Harry has become a lapdog of an ambitious woman , turning his back on his father a king , not sure what spell MM has put on him .

Bringing up his name alongside Otumfuo is to fulfill his will. He always want the fame by comparing himself to Otumfuo that’s why we shouldn’t promote that by comparing him to Otumfuo. His forefathers had served under manhyia so if nothing at all he is just like any of the Amanhene under Otumfuo.

The difference between the Ashantihene and Dormaahene is very simple. The Asantihene is a slave while dormaahene is a sovereign or independent. Ashantihene is nothing but inferior to King Charles.
