Episode 325
Myra (Susan Jameson) is delayed by Walter Potts' (Christopher Sandford) fans outside her house. Walter who is unhappy about leaving wants to stay with the Tanners and confides in Laurie Frazer (Stanley Meadows) that he hates having to hide from fans. Laurie encourages him not to remain a window cleaner. Dennis (Philip Lowrie) plans to smuggle Walter out. Jerry (Graham Haberfield) measures the corner shop for Florrie’s (Betty Alberge) sub-Post Office suggesting a door change to stop draughts. Ena (Violet Carson) believes Walter should return to window cleaning. Walter asks Dennis to say goodbye to Elsie (Pat Phoenix) and Lucille (Jennifer Moss). He gives Dennis money for a bathroom to be installed at No.11. Disguised, Walter makes his escape. Lucille is upset he's gone. Ken (Bill Roache) and Val (Anne Reid) argue about him risking his job by writing to the papers over the lack of a school crossing. Val tells Dave Robbins (Jon Rollason) of her dislike for him but she soon changes her view when he tells her how lonely he has been since his Mother died. Ena submits a petition against Laurie's plans for a nightclub. An ambulance passes and Jerry reports that somebody has been knocked down. A devastated Albert (Jack Howarth) informs Val and Concepta (Doreen Keogh) that Susan Schofield (Ann Mitton) was the one knocked down as Dave led the school children across the street. A distraught Dave returns and Val comforts him while Ken criticises the authorities for their inaction.

These episodes really are excellent. People are right to say comparatively excellent (compared to Corrie in the last 4/5 years in particular), but just in general great television. Camera movements, thoughtful compositions. Things the show seriously lacks now.

Yes, Ken has to be the most self centered character on the street. Plus he cheats on his wife.

Thanks for uploading. I have seen this episode before but now I've seen it in context with the episodes around it and I know why Albert was so upset. Dont know why Anonymous is so upset. You're not doing any harm freely sharing episodes which we cant see otherwise.

Yes my thoughts exactly. Ive seen this one but susan schoffield was just a name then, now having been fortunate enough thanks to this subscription, i could put a face and personality to the name. Really good episode when seen in context.🎉

16:10 now Ken, Val is not Ida, nor will ever be. You must remember that. Val has opinions and will speak her mind

You are really pushing your luck now. This channel has been reported to ITV as many of the episodes on this channel are clearly from their archive and not available on dvd or any other available streaming services and you dont have permission to upload them. I will continue to post comments here until you comply with my demands.

Watching these episodes brings pleasure to people; whether that be re-living memories past or viewing for the first time. If these episodes were behind a paywall elsewhere, your comments would come across as mean (we are talking about episodes of Coronation Street from the 1960s being watched by a small audience!). The fact is, they aren't and no harm is being down to anyone whatsoever. Indeed, the person posting them is going out of their way to bring a little joy to other people. Therefore, "comply with my demands" is a bizarre turn of phrase. Perhaps, given one can only assume you are trying to take a moral stance, consider how that reads. Why would ITV remotely care anyway? If anything, it's potentially bringing (of course very minor) publicity to one of their flagship shows: it's certainly more likely to create interest in archive footage ITV do share, rather than to have the opposite effect. If ITV are reading this, why not stream all the old episodes? Then everyone will be happy!

@@DavidGordon-w4sHAHA! rules are rules. These episodes are ITV's property and sharing them without permission is illegal no matter how much joy it brings. If people really want to see these classics, they should encourage ITV to make them available commercially so they can make a profit from their work and edit the content for today’s audience.

@@Anonymousanonymous-c3w If you are worried about illegal activities, I reckon there are more pressing places to start than here. It's a really odd crusade. "HAHA!"? Eh? "If people really want to watch"; they aren't doing it because they don't want to watch, but they want to offend you somehow, that is for sure. ITV won't be concerned (indeed, they clearly aren't; otherwise you wouldn't need to keep on!)...which is probably what is really annoying you.

@@DavidGordon-w4s How can you not see the bigger picture here? It's not just about following rules for the sake of it. It's about standing up for what's right and making sure creators get the respect they deserve. If we just ignore this blatant infringement of copyright what message does that send? I'm not about to let this slide just because "there are bigger issues." Every little thing adds up, and it's about time we hold people accountable in a court of law even for the small stuff
