Jean Alexander was by the far the best British actress. She was iconic not only in Corrie but Last of the Summer Wine. She was simply amazing and she is very sorely missed. She could have taught these talentless hacks today a thing or two. The argument between Ernest & Emily in 1976 'I am going out now and when I get back I want Mavis out and an apology for that last remark' Their argument today in 2024 Emily - ' Who the hell do you think you are talking too?' Mavis has moved in, hell bi**h is on the electoral roll before he blinks. Ernest arrives home - Emily and Mavis are pissed as F on white wine, blaring out Taylor Swift and his shit is outside on the street. Universal Credit have been told he's left and B is now single.

Plus Ken has a very standoffish attitude to Stan & Hilda considering his brother married their daughter!! I suppose way back then, viewers werent so eagle eyed & inquisitive to past story lines & their continuity as we are today! I loved the storylines back then though! It certainly was Britain's best loved soap at one time! We lived abroad alot in those early days & my uncle filmed the episodes to send us as we missed Corrie so much! No chance now! Corrie hasnt been up to much these last 20 odd years Different lifestyle back then & how we viewed & what we accepted then is a trillion miles from todays viewing & expectations! Still the best though these early ones.. triple gold! Regards 🇬🇧👧
