Whoever thought up the denim factory for Corrie... what a genius. The line up Mike, Ivy, Vera, Elsie, Ida etc. what an array of brilliant actors and the scene of so many fantastic storylines. A joy to watch.
@cicerodiello1 Жыл бұрын
The factory storyline has held the show together long beyond its expiry date. The original line up was indeed brilliant casting. Mike Baldwin was an excellent man you love to hate. He was a great friend and yet could be his own worst enemy. I love that Vera and Jack evolved and feel that it was the last throw of the dice for writers of the show.

How did it take 3 years for this to classic to appear on my feed. What fabulous writing that was SO underestimated in its day. It's fair to say CS is still on the TV today. But it's full of lurid storylines that have no relation to the outstanding observational script of its era. Listening in to what people say amongst themselves today wouldn't be permitted.

I wish characters like Eddie Yates, Bet Gilroy, Elsie Tanner and Hilda hadn't left. I know the actors all had their reasons, but watching elderly Ken, Rita and Audrey still on the programme in 2021, it would have been so wonderful to have had those characters alongside them. Obviously several of the actors died long ago, but I wish they had all stayed in the show until they died. Peter Adamson breaking his contract and getting killed off as a result was a blow to the show. Having him and Rita married for years would have given many more great storylines. And I really feel that Granada should have held on to Julie Goodyear at all costs.

Greetings from Tyne @ Wear! ..... WoW! I am very happy to have stumbled upon this Gem of a series by pure accident! I recently attempted to get into the current version of this programme, but to be totally honest, I found it very unpleasant to watch, and I tuned out! So, when I discovered this vintage version, it piqued my interest! It is great and I am slowly, but happily, working my way through the years. All of the characters, have a good and a not so good side to them of varying degrees, but the one 'resident' I cannot abide, is Hilda Ogden. Thank goodness I do not have to live near to a real life version! She is a trouble making nosy parker who loves to dish out negativity, but she is totally unable and unwilling, to accept the consequences, of her actions and she never seems to realise how nasty and dangerous, her busy bodying is. Yes, it is also true to say, that most of the other characters gossip, such as they would in the real world, but this piece of work, takes it to a whole new level!!!! Incidentally, whereas I think this character seems to leave a lot to be desired, I do however feel that the actress who plays the role of Hilda, is doing an amazing job of portraying such a crazy individual. ..... It just leaves me to thank the uploader, for giving me many a happy hour in allowing me to enjoy this wonderful vintage journey. Kind Regards. xx

Ivy before she got religion - "I quite like going to church, well, once in a while". Just a short time later she would be going to church every week, plus Catholic club and getting to know the priest. I wonder why the decision to transform her attitude towards religion when she moved into the street was taken. It was a good move, it emphasised her sanctimonious, truculent nature, and added another dimension to CN.
