@glamdolly303 жыл бұрын
@@elterrifico9522 True, the first 'Tracy', Christabel Finch, was a real sweetheart, and so natural on camera. Of course playing it from birth, she was so young she didn't realise she was on camera - and that was her charm! It was very sweet to see her rapport with Eileen Derbyshire as her Auntie Emily, and even grumpy Albert Tatlock struck up a friendship with her. Though it sometimes worried me she was being called a different name - and being told to call a different woman 'mummy', aged three upwards. Very confusing for the poor little mite! Someone on these pages once commented that Christabel Finch's parents moved many miles away from Manchester and abruptly pulled her from the show in 1983 without warning the producers - which if true, seems a shame for all concerned. The role of Tracy wasn't re-cast for another two years - Deirdre would just mention she was at a friend's house for tea or upstairs! The worst version of 'Tracy' for my money was robotic Holly Chamarette, unaccountably picked from 60 child actors who auditioned for the coveted role in 1985. It was a casting mistake, and she was 'let go' in 1988. With her dreadful, monotonous Dalek voice and delivery, no wonder her mother Deirdre was forever sending her out of the room to 'wash her hands', 'run a bath' or 'listen to some tapes'. The next incarnation of Tracy the almost equally wooden Dawn Acton, in late '88 aged 11, and stayed off and on to 1999. I think Kate Ford who got the plumb job of playing adult Tracy in 2002, has done a pretty good job with some challenging storylines, the toughest of which was making her a murderer! I no longer watch modern Corrie - is she still in it?
@elterrifico95223 жыл бұрын
I think Christabel moved to Australia and started a family. As for Kate Ford, she makes occasional appearances but the Tracy character is more of a cartoonish caricature these days. Today’s storylines are absurd

The way Deirdre championed that relationship between creepy Arnold and Emily was a bit disturbing to me! All her 'nudge, nudge, wink, wink' jokes about him to Emily got a bit sickening - it was almost voyeuristic! Deirdre didn't know the bloke from Adam, yet she was keen to see them married off at warp speed - and of course he turned out to be a bigamist and total maniac! With friends like Deirdre, etc. It didn't even make sense her pushing them together, because it got her evicted. As soon as they were engaged Arnold got his feet under Emily's table and ordered Deirdre and little Tracy out. He practically threw them onto the streets. Served Deirdre right really!

@@MarcoNegrisEye To many of us actor Geoffrey Hughes will always be Eddie Yeates first and foremost! Eddie was a legend I wish he had stayed in the Street. I just watched the November 1987 episodes when Eddie made a surprise, one-off return to visit his friend and former landlady Hilda in hospital, after she had her nasty run in with burglars at Dr and Mrs Lowther's house. Geoffrey Hughes wanted to have one final chance to play Eddie opposite Hilda, before she said goodbye to the Street for good in December that year. It was a lovely surprise - for Hilda and viewers at home - when the familiar figure of Eddie lumbered into the hospital ward to visit his old pal 'Mrs O', bless him! He'd hardly aged a day in the near 4 years since he left! That wasn't the last time Geoffrey Hughes and Jean Alexander acted together though - she made a number of guest appearances as Lily Barton in ITV's 'Heartbeat' with him in 2001 and 2003. He played conman and lovable rogue Vernon Scripps from 2001-2005.
