@Hate_JJYT3 ай бұрын
Oh really can you tell me some of them? I remember out just being really high during this era
@nickyhaugh23903 ай бұрын
@@Hate_JJYT - Well it was mostly verbal showdowns, but they were still showdowns and all just as entertaining all the same. They bickered in 2000 when being held hostage in the Frescho Siege, and then 2001 saw the two rivals clashing over custody for Adam following Susan's death. The aftermath of this and Toyah's rape storyline in which Ken and Mike argued over Peter being around Adam at the time saw their rivalry toned down when Alma died. I'd say it all ended in 2006 with their last scene together when Mike remembers his affair with Deirdre and taunts Ken in his final moments. For me even though Mike was suffering from Alzheimer's Disease at the time, the words he uttered to Ken seemed genuine as it recounts the history of their compelling rivalry that practically dominated the show's headlines for over two decades since the love triangle with Dierdre back in 1982-1983 itself. Plus in the 1990s they also had a few showdowns over Maggie Redman, as she was Mike's old flame who dated Ken and that fallout was over Maggie's choice about not wanting Mike to know he is the father of their child Mark - it was something that Ken supported partially for Maggie's sake but mainly because of his rivalry with Mike. I remember in the last episode of 1992 in the last ever seen of the show's year in fact. Mike and Alma were about to go out for a New Year celebration meal when Ken came over to warn Mike in staying away from Maggie and Mark, which led to the two rivals bitterly arguing until Alma intervened. Having said that, I also reckon Ken and Mike clashed over Alma as well as Mike's discovery of Ken's affair with Wendy Crozier if I am correct on that.

A wee bit more complex methinks. Ken was quite self centred, had told Deirdre that he wanted no more children when she suggested having a baby (right decision as he was a hopeless father across several decades) and tended to stay in watching Chekhov, while his younger wife festered in a corner, to the extent that even Albert Tatlock said he should be taking her out now and then.

At somepoint you should probably try and do the complete feud of Mike Baldwin and his other nemesis Don Brennan in Coronation Street. This may have occurred throughout Don's stint from 1987-1997 but it was the later 1990s that saw their conflict really turning out for the worst. Mind you Mike and Don started out as mere competitive opponents in that poker game with Alan Bradley and Jack Duckworth back in 1988 itself. From then onwards they were mere neighbours who had few problematic interactions in pre-1996. Then the year itself came when Mike conned Don into buying his garage for a lot worth than it's original valuation and this led to Don's bankruptcy and mental breakdown in which he took his frustrations out on Mike for what happened and Mike reacted indifferently to the matter by pointing out that Don isn't totally blameless on his situation himself. And then their quarrel became nastier in 1997 with Mike's indifference and Don's descent into madness that results in the latter embarking on a dangerously obsessive vendetta against the former himself. They had many confrontations up to the point where Don's campaign of revenge involved setting fire to Mike's factory, kidnapping Alma before trying to kill her along with himself in a failed suicide attempt by driving the vehicle with them inside it into a canal, and finally attempting to murder Mike himself that culminated with Don's death when he unsuccessfully tried to run over Mike on the street.

@@Hate_JJYT - You can do their poker game competition in December 1988, particularly in their most recent one in the last episode of the year that gets even more tense up to the point where Mike and Don go all-in with their cash. Mike wins and Don loses in the end. Then 1996 would see their differences heating up from time to time, especially in June 1996. At one point Mike visits Don to see if his girlfriend Josie Clarke, who was working for Mike at the time, can help with a fax problem and Don has a go at Mike for interrupting their date. Then a few episodes later they get into an argument in the corner shop when Mike arrives just as Don is getting something. Don is telling Rita about the problems with his relationship with Josie and their ownership of the garage. Mike walks in during the discussion and gets involved, to which Don responds by having a go at Mike for tricking him and Josie into buying the garage for much more than it was originally valued. July 1996 sees Don shutting down Mike when the latter wants to know if Josie can return to work for him. Then a few episodes later in a memorable scene Mike is about to have a drink when Don drunkenly confronts him over the garage scandal. Don attempts to punch Mike but misses and he tries again, but Mike blocks him and instead punches Don to the ground in self-defence. The next episode Mike sees Don in the cafe where Alma is and they almost fight in front of Nick when Don goads him to try and hit him. Mike instead tells Don to calmly go and then goes on to say that Don is not blameless for the mess he was brought upon himself. I would say December 1996 they had another dispute when Mike calls a taxi and Don realizes that Mike is his intended customer. Don refuses to drive Mike and they get into an argument until a policeman intervenes and notices that Don has been drinking and gets him cautioned in front of Mike. It is then 1997 happens and the story of the year in Corrie for me is the ongoing conflict between Mike and Don that swiftly becomes more nastier and dangerous as time goes on. January that year sees Mike confronting Don for trying to slander him with messages that he even sent to Alma and warns him off. Stephen Reid listens in to their argument at one point if I am correct. On a few occasions Mike and Don have more confrontations, such as when Mike hires Ashley and Don tries to advise Ashley against it. Then of course April 1997 sees the first of it's episodes conclude with Mike confronting Don for setting fire to his factory. Don admits it and discloses his hatred for Mike. That month sees the pair have several interactive confrontations over the fire factory and Don's vendetta. Mike often visits Don to confront him or they just exchange harsh words in the pub. But then after the Don-Alma horror episode in which they ended up in the canal and then in hospital, Mike rushes to confront Don as he is being examined by a nurse. Mike barges in and goes to throttle Don, even calling him an evil bastard, for kidnapping Alma and trying to kill her. Mike starts throttling the unconscious Don when both Martin Platt and the policeman guarding the door restrain him as he says he'll kill Don for what he did to Alma. And then of course there is their final confrontation in October 1997 when Don ambushes Mike at his factory and attempts to kill him by beating him to death. That fails and the scenario concludes with Don attempting to run over Mike in Alma's car, but he misses and ends up killing himself as Mike watches on alongside Ken Barlow and Rita Fairclough as well as several other people at the climax. Perhaps you can even do the next episode in the aftermath of Don's death when Mike constantly makes it clear to everyone that he is glad that Don is dead, thus signifying the extent of their hatred. If anything this feud is the British non-gangland version of Gustavo Fring and Hector Salamanca if you ask me.
