Those cults that were prevalent in the 1970s & 80s in Britain were dangerous places! I remember going to a kind of open evening with a group of friends mainly because they were to speak about purity, crystal healing which id already been studying on my own, herbs, just about all the things that Zoe was being told about. During the talks & demonstrations etc, i got shivers up my spine, there was something pernicious about their glued on smiles, glassy eyes & gushing platitudes.. It really set my teeth on edge & I informed the friends i was with, my concerns that there was something ulterior behind the gloss! I noticed alot of types of Mandalas or hypnotic shapes being projected on to the walls of the large hall we were in & this strange background music just audible that i was sure matched up to certain frequencies that stimulated certain cerebral areas. Looking around at many of the audience they certainly looked Under some kind of subtle control I began to gather my friends so we could leave. Some of the members of this group standing in the aisle & sides of the hall, tried to stop us from leaving, still with the creepy wide smile, offering us herb tea !!!! Which we declined Strongly. We were allowed to leave but you could tell they were annoyed but we were polite but very firm & got out of there asap. We all said the same thing afterwards, that it was defo a cult group, masquerading as something like a nice calm hippie type gathering... but it was NO such thing. I still believe these cults have evil intent & insidious backers. They are so sickly sweet its tantamount to the sweet smell of rot & corruption. Best stay clear of these organisations with all your power of resistance! Cheers 🇬🇧👧

That was so well written Italia666 , I was invited to something very like what you described , but told it was about herbs & crystals. I never went but those that did go , changed & not in a good way .. They became sickeningly sweet , and had that fake smile you described , so well it was very creepy . It was in the early 70s …… not unlike the women in the movie STEPFORD WIVES .. It wasn’t anything I wanted to go to . I still like studying crystals & Gem stones, and have a nice collection .. I married an American in the 70s , and have been marred 52yrs , I love living in America ,I’m 75 now . I had long forgotten those strange women from the factory in Burnley England were I worked long ago . I lived their for 3 yrs , but I grew up in London England . I always go by my instincts , if it doesn’t feel right , I’m not going to attend, or join any group . Even to this day , I’m very much a loner . If your gutt tells you theirs something fishy about this , listen to your inner voice . I just recently found these old episodes of Coronation street , they remind me of the time I spent up north in Burnley .. they have a saying their , they say … “ theirs nowt as funny as folk “ … ?

4:07:22 and 4:11:04 - two of the (very rare) occasions I can appreciate Judy Mallett, for her assessment of Creepy Ruth of Nirab, the cult which does a very good imitation of those religious door-knockers who do their rounds on Saturday mornings, dressed like 1950s librarians. The "join us or you are doomed" brigade. When Judy says (of Zoe), "I don't think they'll let her go that easily," she couldn't be more right, about Nirab and the others mentioned. I 'lost' my sister to that very cult. So the storyline for Zoe hits home, though is done rather unrealistically.

Shes a natural comedienne & great in this role of ex con Jackie Margi was pretty stunning when younger & sparkled in any role she played Im sure she started in Stand Up but im not sure when. She'd be brilliant in Corrie! Like a Live wire But knowing the producers of these Corries i'll bet she wont be in Corrie very long They always hit on a great character then phase them out or Kill them off or just disappear them!! Other times i think she has to have a man, even an ex con gangster as long as he pays her attention. Yet a friend of mine married at 17yrs, she & her husband were great friends, did everything together & shared equally, they both had brilliant senses of humour & only had eyes for each other! They had 3 children, never strayed, nor had affairs & they are still together after 52 years together & are still very happy & fulfilled & laugh alot Its just finding the right one!
