Ena truly had it hard, that's why she played hard. She lived through two world wars, two depressions, her mother abandoned her as a child, her father abused her, she lost her husband to early catastrophe, and had to raise children on a single minimum wage, on her own which during the war was a wonder to endure. So with all that, it was no wonder she was a battleaxe, sharp and narrow minded. She was the one who truly could educate on the definition of suffering. Truly a legendary character, proper production of north britain values during the 20th century...
