Love Ena’s sparkly hairnet for Christmas - and you can tell when an episode was written by Tony Warren, just like you could when Jonathan Harvey wrote one. They were always pure comedic joy.

Why did she wear those hair nets? She didn't wear them the first couple of years.
@whyayetv4 жыл бұрын
Geena Smith She first wore a hairnet in episode 5, when in hospital. In an interview given by Violet Carson many years later, she claimed that the idea of the hairnet was her own, saying: “My hair looked rather nice, you see, I've got... and still am, thank God, blessed with nice hair...and they started to pull it about. I said, 'don't you touch my hair - it costs me money to have my hair done like this'. So they said, 'What are you going to do?'. I said, 'Well, I'll put a hairnet on it.' And that is the answer to the hairnet, you see?"

Imagine if at the end of part one, when Jed said the curtain was ‘stuck’, Leonard Swindley went ‘You stupid boy...’
@alberttatlock52374 жыл бұрын
Jed first appeared as a pretty nasty threatening character, yet within a few episodes he was totally transformed into a wise cracking clownish Scouse baffoon, always joking around

Tho 'we' jump in gaps from various episodes to episodes may annoy some, but for me it's like Dr Who style time travel stopping here then there known that in Coronation Street world nothing changes much does it😉.

It bugs me that so many of your 60s ones are getting blocked here when ITV never rerun them! If they want to stop us viewing them here and so on, why don't they just show us what they have! Grr!

Dailymotion tends to block less videos of soap operas. In fact I had a load blocked and a few months ago they all got unblocked.

Christine is a very attractive lady & a great actress, it's a pity she left the show so soon.

Even more of a pity that Christine Hargreaves died relatively young ( she was only 45) 😢😢
@murphy90394 жыл бұрын
@@alexanderjones9572 yes, that was far too young to die, I wonder what were the reasons she left Corrie, was she written out of the show or just decided she had enough and left? If she had lived I would love to have seen her return to the street years later as she had connections with Ken, she even went out with his Dad!!!

Anyone else know the Beatles connection here ? The actress playing Christine Hardman was once married to Klaus Voorman, friend of the Fabs from Hamburg and designer of the Revolver cover. (Christine sits next to Annie Walker on the 'stage' with the black band and brooch round her neck.) She was a fantastic actress who died ridiculously young in the mid 80s.

Arthur Lowe's character here was so well known and loved across the country, that when he appeared on dad's Army he was simply playing his coronation street character. He Took Leonard swindley and Turned him into Captain mainwaring, ultimately this is what drove him into a deep depression and alcohol abuse. Easy money I guess, but typecast and remembered for a character that ultimately was just a reinvention of an old character, most of his best work was done prior to 1967, and he knew this, as did many other's, but he got stuck with being Captain mainwaring, which was nothing more than Leonard swindley with a different name

He did a series called Bless Me Father and Potter. The character in Bless Me Father was very different to other characters played. He was great ss Potter too.

Hello! Your channel is a fantastic source of Coronation Street episodes! You have quite a lot of ones I haven't managed to find on here yet! If you don't mind me asking, could you please upload 1st March and 20th September 1965, 26th June 1968, 26th January 1970 and 24th February 1971 if you have them? Thanks.

Also with your missing episodes, have you managed to find any of them yet? I have 31st May 2000 which appears to be in it's entirety. I've also found a KZbin channel with 22nd January 2001 (kzbin.info/www/bejne/g4rVe2xpdtilirs). And sorry to bother you but do you only have Coronation Street? Do you have Emmerdale Farm?

26th June 1968 in the next few days... thanks for the link, but that is a partial ep (same that I have..) Does your May 31 2000 have 3 minutes of some other show in the middle (starting around 9:50)? ps - no Emmerdale

Harry Hewitt was a Hard-core socialist and communist in real life, which seemed odd seeing as he was a well paid television actor earning about 10 times the average wage at the time and living the life of Riley. Almost polar opposite beliefs
