Thank you for sharing this video. Having watched the origin video via the link the dr does say to take a 6th breath wich is to be coughed out and although he mentions a pillow he only says "a pillow infront of you" But nothing about exactly where to place the pillow. Would you mind clarifying why you think the pillow should be breathed into in phase 2 please. Do not mean to be a nuisance but just want to make sure I understand the correct method thankyou. And again thankyou 👍

You are not nuisance at all. I cannot confirm what is the exact technique as my only source of information is the video I shared. So you know as much as I do about how to perform it right. In regards to your question on why I think breathing into the pillow can beneficial : In the 1st phase of the exercise the mouth exhalations will be dropping the levels of CO2 at the end of each breath. There are 2 scenarios (and unless some testing is done nobody can know for sure) : • The levels of CO2 gradually drop shifting the body into a hypocapnic state • Because of the 5 sec holds the levels of CO2 remain constant (which is why I assumed when drawing the graph) Either way the chances of the CO2 levels to be reduced prior to the start of the exercise is very high given the population the doctor suggests the exercise for. So we need to gradually increase the levels of CO2 for the safety of the patient. The easiest way for this to happen is by using a mask, or breathing against a pillow or a brown bag, something which will promote the breather to inhale part of the CO2 he just exhaled. If he was having his head against the pillow but the face turned to the side the levels of CO2 in the blood would not build up.

@@AnastasisTzanisYoga When you say lay on your stomach with the pillow infront of you. Do you lie on top of the pillow, ie tipping the lower torso up? Thanks 😊

Rachel Photography lying with the stomach on the pillow would provide some resistance to the diaphragm but would not increase CO2. I think the pillow should you under the head.
