People should be washing their hands for 20 seconds to protect themselves from the virus known as Covid-19. That's according to Public Health England.
The UK government is still working to contain the outbreak but the prime minister has warned that it's "highly likely" the UK will see further infection.
Lucy Hockings finds out what Covid-19 is, how it spreads and answers your questions about what action you should take at home, work and when travelling, in a BBC News Special.

Instead of telling people to not wear mask becuase they don’t know how to, why don’t the govt train the public on how to safely wear a mask.

Last year I had an heated conversation with my manager director in a dairy about hand washing. I ask if we could get taps with sensor to avoid the spray of germs he say that stainless steel was "self cleaning" 🤨 , I say it's not true and explain the hand washing procedure he got very angry so I told him that I was just asking. I bet now he wish that he took what I say differently. I was just worried about people I work with and he was worried about money!

Reported 3.18.20: "up to one-fifth of infected people ages 20-44 have been hospitalized, including 2%-4% who required treatment in an intensive care unit. Still, the most severe cases, and the highest rates of death, are among the elderly. Although 17% of the U.S. population is 65 or older, 31% of cases were in that age group, CDC experts concluded in the Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report. While it is possible that the elderly have more chances to be infected than younger people, such as by living in nursing homes, that is considered unlikely, since younger adults encounter many others at work and school." Full article here: www.statnews.com/2020/03/18/coronavirus-new-age-analysis-of-risk-confirms-young-adults-not-invincible Summary: mask nose n mouth, wear gloves, carry alcohol or bleach decontamination fluid and wiping cloth w you. Avoid surfaces outside the home and ppl in general for the next few months, maybe longer to "hide" from the viral "wave" that's passing by around us all. The fewer people who become carriers means fewer ppl transmitting to others, esp those with few defenses like elders and ppl pressed into poverty.

reported 3.20.20: new data show that up to one-fifth of infected people ages 20-44 have been hospitalized, including 2%-4% who required treatment in an intensive care unit. Still, the most severe cases, and the highest rates of death, are among the elderly. Although 17% of the U.S. population is 65 or older, 31% of cases were in that age group, CDC experts concluded in the Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report. While it is possible that the elderly have more chances to be infected than younger people, such as by living in nursing homes, that is considered unlikely, since younger adults encounter many others at work and school. Instead, the higher case rate among older Americans strongly suggests a true underlying, biological vulnerability, probably exacerbated by preexisting illnesses which, according to data from China, sharply raise the risk of both infection and serious illness. That likely explains why although older Americans represented 31% of the cases, they accounted for 45% of hospitalizations, 53% of ICU admissions, and 80% of deaths, the CDC reported. In contrast, no ICU admissions or deaths were reported among people younger than 20. That, too, fits with data from other countries. In South Korea, for example, which had an early surge of cases, the death rate in Covid-19 patients ages 80 and over was 10.4%, compared to 5.35% in 70-somethings, 1.51% in patients 60 to 69, 0.37% in 50-somethings. Even lower rates were seen in younger people, dropping to zero in those 29 and younger. In an alarming development, however, scientists in China are now reporting that the new coronavirus does not spare the very young. In the first retrospective study of Covid-19 among children in the country where the pandemic began, they count 2,143 cases in children. Of those, they report in the journal Pediatrics, more than 90% were mild or moderate, confirming earlier observations that children are at lower risk of severe disease. (That may be because the molecule that allows the virus to enter human cells seems to be less developed in children.) But 6% of pediatric cases were severe and even critical, compared to 19% of adult cases. And in an unexplained finding, nearly 11% of the Covid-19 cases in infants were severe or critical, though no babies died. An important caveat, however, is that some of what doctors believed to be Covid-19 might have been another respiratory disease, including respiratory syncytial virus, which is known to cause severe illness in children. I went into town today, i've come to the conclusion that this is going to spread like wildfire. One bloke didn't wash his hands after using the public toilet. There were no precautions being taken in the bank that I went to, and there were thousands of elderly people needlessly pottering about the high street without a care in the world. Recipe for disaster.

Masks are useful for prevention, according to experts in Hong Kong. Why you should trust Hong Kong experts more than those in the West? Because HK people fought SARS, also a kind of coronavirus disease, 17 years ago. And it worked. Hong Kong had the COVID-19 problem earlier than the West, but it has now contained the outbreak, because most people wear masks in the public area to prevent droplets transmission. TRUST HONG KONG experts (not necessarily the government though) .

Citizens are being brainwashed that "wearing mask is useless". For them, "Not Wearing mask" = "behave stay calm". They worry too much of being seen as "Overreact". The government overly gives positive words for reassuring and calming citizens, so they really believe "it is minor issue, minor sick, will stop soon". Then they may lower their sense of alert in daily life. The number of cases is soaring every day, and if they got infected one day, they will accept it is inevitably to avoid it. They won't judge themselves haven't done enough to avoid or any mistakes or misbelief. So Do not remind people if they are going to slipped by banana skin. They won't say thank you. Instead laugh you idiot, stupid and they never admit their own mistakes .

In Singapore, the citiciship of an infected man was removed by the Singapore government because he didn't obey the Self-isolated at home and attempted to secretly travel overseas, while he returned, he was refused to enter Singapore again. Most Asian countries' governments may supervise the immigration record of all infected people and followup checking their self-isolation. People are found who don't obey it will be accused legally. So has anyone ever questioned about the related issue in UK? Is it compulsory ? What will the UK government do to infected people who doesn't obey self-isolation ? Most of the strategies by the UK government rely on the citizens' self-discipline such as washing hands, avoid large gathering, self-isolation at home, that related to trust and assumed every one has a high quality of morality. However London is a population of such a mix, including many Territorists and lunatics, stabbing can happen every week... those could be happier to help you spreading virus. So how strict and responsible the supervision to infected individuals by the UK government ? Since I never hear about this bit from the UK news, but I even know more how other countries are doing.
