Let's be clear. this guy Seheult is giving rare and much-needed information EVERY DAY, alongside his regular medical shifts and his MedCram business. He's the ONLY person I have seen that is proposing research-based, time-proven, proactive therapies that have been largely left behind by western medicine to give some modicum of control and hope in a largely out-of-control situation. He gives powerful and valuable starting points for us all to carry forward and do follow-up study on. It's up to us and our unique situation's to decide where and when these can help us. 20 years ago, 25 trips to the library and hours of paid consultation with an average physician MIGHT have exposed some of the useful ideas that this guy posts here for free every day. Some of the petty "but you missed this" is pretty audacious. Thanks again Doc!!!!

I agree with commending Dr. Seheult. He is a calm, logical source of good information. The best guy on KZbin, in my opinion. However, I do not agree when you say that he is the "ONLY person...that is proposing research-based, time-proven, proactive therapies that have largely been left behind by western medicine..." First of all, the papers that Dr. Seheult calls to attention are the epitome of western medicine. Western medicine preaches basic science followed by placebo-controlled double-blind studies to establish the efficacy of either newly developed drugs or new uses for already licensed drugs. It is not for "us" to decide "where and when these can help us". If is for us to wait for proper controlled clinical trials and then use the drugs indicated. I say this as an MD, an infectious disease doc, and a molecular virologist with 45 years of experience studying viruses. One would be ill-advised to self-medicate or to think that the paper on Ivermectin justifies its clinical use against COVID19, at this point in time.

Lul N It’s best to drink plenty of water as it helps to stabilize your body’s lymphatic state and also your blood will get clean from toxins by the filters that water gives, it should help open your lungs oxygen, it’s best to hydrate no matter what, as it aids in replenishment and balances the fluids of our bodies, water is always best for our body no matter what, and as for the oxygen being produced by the water we give ourselves, I would agree and say yes drinking water will provide more oxygen to the lungs and throughout the bloodstream wiping out the toxins we don’t need that day, through the urine and sweating! Be safe and if anyone else that knows about waters benefits, please comment and feel free to correct what needs to be! Thanks!

Evening. In our service, we _have_ seen patients with a normal PAO2 and a low (80%) SO2. Moreover, they were completely asymptomatic, with normal chest x-rays and minimal ground-glass images in chest CR scans. Such factors would be in line with the heme theory. There may also be a correlation with blood type susceptibility (which has been observed) if we consider Covid-19 has a hematological component. Seeing as hydroxicloroquine (despite not having it's mechanism truly known) is used to treat other red blood cell intracellular parasites, there may also be some connection to its effect on Covid-19 if one considers the possible hematological connection. I believe it is a path worth investigating.

People are also being told to not seek help until it becomes severe. In discounting the hemoglobin binding model, you forget to consider that BOTH alveolar membrane inflammation AND dysfunctional hemoglobin could be occurring at the same time. I think this model explains the severe inflammation - from the free Iron released. It explains the elevated ferritin levels (trying to scavenge that iron), the diabetics who are higher risk than expected (due to already having dysfunctional hemoglobin and high ferritin and high free iron), the lag in symptom onset because the ferritin initially keeps up and the patient is gradually placed in functional anemia. In carbon monoxide poisoning, which also affects gas exchange at the cellular level, a study I read on pubmed by Dogan, et al, cites only a modest increase in lactate by the patients sick enough to need HBO, with the average lactate being 2.3. Before discounting that this could be part of the clinical picture, please investigate it further. I’m not saying it’s the Only piece of the puzzle, but it deserves a valid look. Why is the blood so dark if it is not affected? I’ve heard reports of greenish serum from the iron. Please reconsider. Thank you.

Herd immunity may be establishing and we don't know, many people get infected and have very few or no symptoms at all, and do not get tested. The time of quarantine plus the time of "returning to normality" could be enough to get enough people infected and naturally immunized, so that new severe cases are not as massive and abrupt, and therefore not enough to collapse the healthcare system. Remember that the "new cases" are only the ones tested, the real cases are estimated to at least double that number.

Historically most outbreaks took as long as about 2 years, including Spanish Flu and H1N1. They eventually began to wane and disappear or become endemic like ebola. Covid19 is more contagious than any of those which is a factor that should speed up herd immunity; if this theory is true it should improve much faster than 2 years.

If SARS-CoV-2 is dissociating iron from hemoglobin, a given volume of blood leaving the lungs at near-100% PaO2 in the plasma would carry less oxygen than in a healthy patient. So on leaving the lungs, PaO2 should be the same but SpO2 should be lower. The fingertip monitor sees the blood after tissues have pulled some oxygen from it, decreasing PaO2 even further, and driving SpO2 down with it. One thing that might confirm the iron dissociation hypothesis is if patients show a shift in the hemoglobin saturation curve between SpO2 and PaO2. If the iron is dissociated I would expect the blood to act as if it is carrying less iron and for the relationship between the two saturations to become more linear. Presumably this could be tested in a lab by repeatedly measuring PaO2 and SpO2 while either increasing or decreasing the total amount of oxygen in the sample blood.

I could add though that high ferritin is typical in cases involving inflammation so ferritin specifically could just be associated with that.

New Zealand is probably only doing so well because they are coming out of a long summer so everyone's immune systems are good, unlike the northern hemisphere who have been hit by Covid-19 mid-winter. New Zealand may be testing more than Australia, Argentina and South Africa but in terms of deaths per population they are are all relatively low because these countries have all just come out of summer.

Keri Sutt don’t think so, we have the advantage of being at the end of the world so the virus didn’t reached us with the force of other countries with greater global people movement. They also recently issued no trips to beaches/out of town etc via car or going to your holiday home for Easter. No international travellers incoming or outgoing and limited domestic air travel. The last two days are beginning to see a reduction in reported cases after two weeks of the intended 4 weeks of these lockdown procedures. It's the same for the UK. The number of ICU beds they have for the UK is way too few, even for before the pandemic started. It's like they got their data from 1952 or something. They say they will update the information, but you would think that they would be as up to date as possible before publishing a country's page, and actually bothering to get the correct information before they do. Several news outlets have seen the page and are putting out stories of doom and gloom on the back of it, even though it is incorrect when it comes to basic facts, and the data that are given as projections for days past are way off to what the actual data was. Very poor scholarship from an establishment that should know better.

i still that it's accelerating, a week ago new york said that their hospitals were nearing capacity. It would make sense that hospitalizations were slowing if they stopped taking in patients, mean while the NYPD are reporting an increase in officer infections, the hospital ships that were supposed to be used for none covid-19 patients are now starting to be used for covid-19 patients, the death rate for NYC and New Jersey are both increasing by about 50 - 60 deaths a day, and emergency workers are still reporting an increase in illness. The CDC chair said that 90% of americans are abiding by the social distancing rules and I can tell you that just isn't the case because they're still closing places that people congregate too in large groups. just the other day fish markets in DC were forcefully closed because people were not following the social distancing guidelines along with a multitude of other areas. I feel like the government is either leaving out crucial data to re assure trump, or to keep people from panicking, it's so wide spread now that meat packing plants and slaughter houses are closing because their workers are getting sick.

Dear dark qasar, there is a report about a 30year old Ben in the US. His wife called the ambulance for him and they put him on a respirator for some hours. Then they gave him some paracetamol against his high fever and sent him home. He went to bed and next morning his wife found him dead. This is no surprise. When a hospital sends somebody home with a seriously damaged lung and fever due to covid 19, they can as well not treat him at all. All over the world they would have kept Ben in hospital. Everybody knows you need minimum 5 days on the respirator. Plus some testing etc. As long as there is fever the patient is fighting against the virus. In USA there is no treatment if you got no bundle of cash, isn't it?

Good points! I also think it's a total mistake for people to continue to order take-out food. Consider the infected cruise ships....people were isolated in their cabins while workers brought food to their door and it was later found out that the transmission of the virus was probably from those working in the kitchens. This virus can hide in asymptomatic carriers for a long time. 'Front-line and essential workers' might be able to prepare food for people, but they are also the super-spreaders. Pick up the take-out food all packaged up nicely and BAM!...you just succeeded in bringing the virus into your home. The virus is definitely a trickster....time to think on our feet and revamp our daily lives. Simply be self-reliant for awhile---your own cook, cleaner, etc, etc. Also a total mistake for school systems to continue to feed children packaged meals...eek! If the virus isn't on the food, it might be on the packaging or residing in the person the parent is standing next to in the food line. I don't know why people keep trying to continue their habits when those same habits are the perfect breeding ground for the virus. You mentioned police officers getting it----I'm now hearing about mass transit workers(bus drivers, etc.) also getting it more than law enforcement. I see the buses in my area (Denver, Colorado) continuing to drive around and I think, "whaaaaat???' Apparently, we are not yet smart enough to outwit the virus....lastly----from cruise ship data, the virus can live for up to 17 days on surfaces. Holy crap!

I have a question, but first a preamble: In the absence of a Federal Government with a clue - we the people need to 'engineer' a method to bring our country back to economic function. First observation: is that people with the antibodies need to be recognized so that they can go back to work and support the economy, provide relief, and contribute to the herd immunity. THEREFORE the entire country needs to have massive testing, and in a similar way to what the German government is doing we need certificates that confirm our immunity via the antibody test. Second: A plan to allow those persons at little risk to return to normal activities needs to be generated. These people may NOT be immune but perhaps at LOW risk. This population will be the younger among us - perhaps those less than 40years old. Certainly there needs to be more than a simple age below which return to work is sensible. Perhaps the absence of co-morbidity, living arrangements that do not risk older populations, etc. Third: A national plan to use blood plasma from the recovered patients to support the lives of those at risk people that come down with the disease. Fourth: My question - which may be too extreme - Would a therapy that includes two steps be possible? A: first develop a method of purposefully infecting a low risk population with a low virus load followed by B: using blood serum with antibodies 3-4 days later to suppress the infection, thus bringing the person to immunity and making them ready for the work force. Personally I am not a medical professional, I am an engineer, I ask questions with the intent of getting people thinking about creative solutions. WE need to do it since the Federal government is incompetent and incapable.

If I'm not mistaken Israel's strategy from the beginning was to lock-down and protect their at-risk population and let the rest have at it, get sick and get over it. I'm guessing we aren't capable of doing this in the U.S. is because we can't even track people well enough to control immigration. It's looking like we may have an effective drug therapy now so lifting restrictions can begin soon as long as we keep hospitalizations at a manageable level.

QUESTION: If viruses are sensitive to Ph levels then why not try to use baking soda to alkalize the body of patients to as far as possible (without killing the patient)?

If you propose such treatment,know your physiology first.
@kimberleeadams77314 жыл бұрын
I found the following online to answer your question but first I wanted to say there’s been a movement toward self-care, especially among those who distrust the medical practitioners or where healthcare is difficult to obtain. Do we know what seemingly innocuous self-administered treatments patients are using? Effects of baking soda on oxegen and carbon dioxide: The supplemental bicarbonate will push the acid/base buffer equation towards increased CO2 production; however, if the patient’s ventilation is inadequate, the equation will move back towards more H+ production, worsening the acidosis. With a respiratory acidosis, the kidneys try to compensate by increasing H+ secretion, raising the HCO3- concentration, assuming the patient has adequate kidney function. In acute respiratory acidosis, the serum HCO3- increases 1 mEq/L for every 10 mmHg elevation in PaCO2. If PaCO2 remains elevated for three to five days despite compensatory mechanisms, it is considered chronic respiratory acidosis. In this state, the serum HCO3- increases from 3.5 to 5 mEq/L for every 10 mmHg elevation in PaCO2.

@fireteamomega23434 жыл бұрын
@@defacto_8840 I would agree with that statement. It more likely has to do with pulmonary surfactant proteins. Which there are articles on with regards to SARS infection... Specifically pulmonary surfactant protein d which affinitively binds to SARS as an immune response. It's primary function however is to keep surface tension in the alveoli to perpetuate alveolar gas exchange. Less protein means less surface tension means less oxygenated blood. As a result the hemoglobin tends to aggregate and binds more iron likely causing the results you are seeing.

Can you do a video please about the two strains of Covid-19 the L and S type, which one is more prevalent, and is it true that the L type might be more aggressive ? and if you get and heal from one type will the antibodies protect you from both types or just the one ?

How about updating about Ivermectin, how it's being used in many countries, including US, and with better effectiveness than Remdesivir (which has dangerous side effects).

Ivermectin !!! This med was around even when I was in med school 25 years ago. It was a test question I think because of its anti-parasitic mechanism of action. I never used it or even saw it prescribed but for some reason , ( maybe because I liked to travel in the tropics :) ),it was one of those test question answers you never forget.....and here it is today as a promising answer to our Covid-19 problem ! Thanks again for the excellent lecture.

I ve been thinking about the benefit of finnish sauna you have mentioned before on the immune system. I am not medically skilled so maybe its just silly what i am about to say but what if the beneficial part of the sauna is mostly or partly just the inhalation of hot air into the lungs ? I ve understood that the coronavirus does not like high temperatures a lot. Could it be that when a person is infected in an early stage and doing finnish sauna daily the spread of the infection is slowed down, giving the immune system more time to do its thing.?And if this would be the case how about heating up the oxigen or air that is given to hospitalised covid19 patients or even intubated patients ? If 60 celsius is killing the virus outside the body why would it survive 60 celsius inside the body ? What if an intubated patients air supply for example is heated up to 60 celsius for like a few minutes every hour ? Sorry for my English. Sorry for wasting anyones time if this is just a silly idea from someone without any medical education.

Thierry, please watch this episode again with sauna. The thing is that your blood develops more of - I don't really remember. Either white blood cells or blood epithels, something like that. These blood cells help to fight against the virus. I think when you got the virus and sit in a 90degree Celsius sauna you will just collapse.
@thierry13124 жыл бұрын
@@doroparker1702 1. not necessarely in an early stage.2. I am not talking about putting sick people into a sauna but heating the air that is ventilated into their lungs to kind of kill of the new virusparticals that came out of previously killed cells. Or maybe some kind of Hot air Vapor Inhaler therapy might have the samen effect.
@jsvendsen62564 жыл бұрын
Thierry Wlazlak - in regards to the sauna, it is not only the heating up of the body, but then the rapid cooling down and heating up again. This triggers the innate immune system from what I can remember. Some have suggested looking into the wim hoff method.
@thierry13124 жыл бұрын
@@jsvendsen6256 What you say is assumed yes but i have not seen any hard evidence. But i have seen scientific studies stating clearly coronavirus and any other virus is destroyed by cooking it or even lower temperatures. A finnish sauna easely reaches temperatures above 80 celsius. Thus making you inhale air with temperature above 80 celsius as well. I wonder how the virus can survive this inside the lungs and not in the open

What I can't wrap my head around as a US Army Registered Respiratory Therapist... why is Canada fairing soo much better on the uncomfortable worldometer numbers? I can only speculate that they are just better citizens that listen to their government. I hope Dr. Seheult can give insight as to why some non-equatorial countries are doing very well such as Canada where it also happens to be where Dr. Seheult was born, and maybe show what they are clearly doing right with countries that use saunas and hydrotherapy. Maybe it's Canada"s Maple syrup? Jokes aside, I hope to someday work fro you when I hanging up my Army uniform in 3 years as a RT/ECMO Specialist, to practice medicine on these front lines. You are my hero Dr. Seheult with an amazing educational gift.

ref: Nordic Countries. While I was originally hopeful they would show low deaths/1 Million or /cases. I see that as unlikely since they have closed the saunas, and one would need to take the data in windows to see how individual policies affecting things. But since, you may not know you are infected for 5+ days, and it's basically free. Contrast showers have become my new thing.

Dr. Anthony Cardillo has been prescribing the malaria drug hydroxychloroquine, in combination with zinc, to patients who are experiencing severe symptoms of COVID-19. "Every patient I've prescribed it to has been very, very ill, and within eight to 12 hours they were basically symptom-free," Cardillo told ABC7 in Los Angeles. "So clinically, I am seeing a resolution." I actually heard about this combination on your channel first, keep up the very informative work! Thank you!

@@golfinguy423 On further research... Yes, this is a crap "model". The IHME "model" is a three parameter curve fitting exercise, originally based on the curve of deaths ove time from China. It is the least sophisticated of all of the versions of models out there - it had a big wave of self promotion a few weeks ago, and then for some reason, perhaps optimistic numbers, it got picked up by the White House. The fact that it dropped its projected deaths by an order of magnitude isn't a sign of how things or data have changed (for the better). It is a measure of how bad the original assumption was - we can use China exclusively as a predictive model for each of the US states. They just averaged in Italy and Spain, from what I understand, and that is why the model is so different now. But it cannot be taken as any more accurate. It's basic assumptions about self isolation don't hold true in many US states; they assume they will be maintained through may; and if you dig into the assumptions they use for each state, you find out that they are just flat wrong about the steps many of the states have taken. They claim some states are in full lock down which are not, and others that do have stay at home orders do not in their assumptions. Just as an example, they are claiming New Mexico will peak in a couple of weeks. The much more sophisticated models that consider likelihoods of transmission, hospitalization, and recovery say that won't be until almost a month later. The original estimate from this "model" for New Mexico, before the new death curves were considered, was off by almost an order of magnitude from reality.

When I checked yesterday, the website containing the model had been blacklisted on the HSCN, who controls the internet connection for most of the NHS here in the UK. I'm not sure whether NHS England considered it dangerously misleading or whether they would prefer that we utilise other methods of prediction, but it is concerning...

chima chibi I agree. Is this another 'bought the stock, use the stock'? UK health advisor is strong on not promoting ineffective test. For example, 20% of UTI test are false negatives here so symptoms count in determining retesting or treatment. However, there's a percentage of Covid19 infected people who are asymptomatic, and some who have vague symptoms. How many test at 65% efficiency would you have to carry out to be confident. And what would be a 'good' percentage for this test to be useful in flattering the curve? At 65% I'd use up the ineffective stock by testing thrice, I could be wrong but just doing it once seems foolish.

Igm/Igg western blot tests are and always have been useless garbage... False positive negative results honestly you might as well just flip a coin. Not all antibodies are created equal apparently even monoclonal ones. Usually there's to be expected no great quality control. Bioreact separate purify spin down pellet freeze and ship. Then you get a bad cloned batch to test with. Some bind some don't some clump together and you get skewed results. Sometimes you also get like protein binding that occurs and crazy protein bands appear. I could go on and on about why it sucks. It needs to be discarded as testing it's 2020 and just a mess of a thing... I would say further investment to drive down the cost in something like ddpcr is the way to go forward far more controlled and accurate.

I paste the post I sent to the doc just 5 minutes ago... Hi from Italy. I want you to give a look at a peculiar fact that's happening in the province of Ferrara (North Italy Emilia Romagna region, one of the three more hit region in Italy) Doctors observed that in that particular province there are almost no infections. The doctors believe that the people there, having been historically exposed to malaria and thalassemia, have developed a sort of enhanced resistance from contagion. I've listened on this channel about how this virus hits on blood red cells and how maybe antimalaric drugs could help. Maybe there's a link. Not a doctor so I stop here suspecting having already told enough silly things. Big props for your info. You explain things so well that I have a delusion of having nailed a important thing...Maybe is encephalitis affecting my brain...God bless America and especially docs. Hold fast!
