I make animations in biology with PowerPoint, this animation video is about the standard coronavirus test, real time RT-PCR method, which is a laboratory technique combining reverse transcription of RNA into complementary DNA, and amplification of specific DNA targets using polymerase chain reaction (PCR).

Certain terms such as genome, lysis, and polymerase are mispronounced, because the voiceover is a synthesized audio.

@@shraddhaeknathkhaire9787 you mean antibody test? Its so easy if you have antibodies in your blood (serum) it will travel through the cellulose membrane of the test kit which there are stationary anti immunoglobulins made from goat blood that will attach to your antibodies (if you have them) which will result in a colored line in the test kit. So how colored line formed is like this: antibodies to corona+anti-immunglobulins with colloidal gold->travels through test membrane->anti-Ig in test region attaches to that complex=colored line. Its called sandwich immunochromatography.

Not every people working on these things is super duper smart. Running the test doesn't necessarily mean you understand what you're doing. It can be done mechanically by anyone who can memorize the steps and have basic knowledge of it. Science is a collective effort of many researchers throughout our history. That's why on one side we have exceptional scientists who are more famous for their amazing contributions and on the other side we have regular scientists who aren't as geniuses but they also contribute to the human knowledge working with peers as teams.

Taking an intro biochem course right now over the summer and just learned about PCR. This video was up next from a PCR animation recommended and I was curious. I got the PCR stuff and some of the centrifuge stuff (from what I've done in bioengineering labs) and I'm honestly very surprised with how much I understood.

This is how they "soft" the test, by making it pretty, its a amplification and copy machine, just that

Pretty simple when you're doing it. Just takes a long time to process. Can be done on a 96 or 384 well plate. In my experience it's about 4 hrs per plate plus about an hour per 92 samples to prep them and get them into the plate

@@tiberio1352 they have pipetting robots, who do the entirety of the pipetting fully automatic. There is no single person doing all these tests, that would take way too long
