Dude, you killed it with that summary list of minor aspects missing on this watch! Nobody else has done that, that was a fantastic and useful breakdown! And I really liked your review specifically because of how much you showed the watch functionally being used. It seems like you did that more so than others and it really helped because this is such a new experience with the display. Great job!

At 400€ plus the separate cost for the nylon band, the new product keeps the Pace 3 competitively priced and relevant, avoiding market overlap.

Another product tester here. I have to say I've loved it and it's taken the place of my Apex 2, now. During testing I ran with it side by side with my Apex + POD2 + HRM and the data I was getting was so incredibly close to the Apex + accessories. Especially the HR, impressively accurate. It's battery life also outlasts the Apex and that's running with "all systems" on. The AMOLED screen is actually just like a nice to have bonus in reality. Very pleased to have this as my daily watch now.

I’ve been looking at the 265 for a while and this complicates things. To me it seems like the 265 is a more complete watch minus maps. It’s still $100 more though. It looks very impressive, and very good value. It's great for buyers, I'd have thought anyone after a sports watch, ather than a smart watch, would get everything they could want from this, the suunto race or Polar Vantage M3. A bit of an aside, I changed my old Apex from 10 minute to continuous sampling and the battery life dropped from about 30 days to about 20, so quite acceptable.

I like to know how to build on the previous weeks training load and I know straight away how much more I got to do compared to last weeks. Then in training hub or app I can see the months worth week by week. Not sure why you and DC Rainmaker have a problem with it. I have the now ancient Pace 2. And it's just fine... basic and gets the job done for me. I am stuck in the watch world between Apple for everyday use - compatibility with my phone - Apple Pay, messaging, etc abd using my Pace 2 just for running. I am sort of holding out hope for the perfect marriage between Apple & Coros (or Garmin for that matter)... but I don't think that is coming any time soon. I do think I would find value in having my running watch track all factors that could impact training - stress, sleep, daily steps - and have everything in one place. I consider myself a relatively serious runner and I am ready for an upgrade to both watches (my Apple is gen 6) but just not sure this is "smart" enough - HA. Appreciate the review... and now I'll obsess for a few more days/weeks over this decision.

It's funny that Garmin fans will defend the weak processor in the F8, claiming that at least the battery is good thanks to it. Just look at this Coros: you can have a fast processor AND a long battery life. There are no excuses for selling a $1k watch with a several-year-old processor.
@ChaseTheSummit
@ChaseTheSummit 3 ай бұрын
Eh... it's not that simple. Garmin's do a lot more (NFC Payments, Streaming music, Body Battery, Training Readiness, etc...) not to mention out of the box COROS watches sample heart rate every 10 minutes which saves a TON of battery. If you switch the COROS to "Real Time" Heart rate data it basically cuts the battery life in half when you're not in an activity. Another huge difference is the maps. Yes COROS pans/zooms faster but it also lacks a lot of detail compared to a Garmin which has routeable maps and full map label/POI support. All that stuff takes extra CPU power to render. But yes, Garmin's are super expensive! But I'd argue they're sort of aimed at different markets.

Great review, Dave. A no-frills sports-focused Amoled watch with great GNSS and OHR accuracy? Sounds like just the thing I need. I've been holding off getting a Race S. Was looking forward to the M3. But this Pace 3 seems like an ideal middle ground especially for someone like me who just runs, does cardio, and lifts weights and not much else. Previously I had decided to avoid getting a Pace 2 and Pace 3 because their builds were just.. ugh.. even $80 China-made smart watches have better subjective build quality. How's the build quality on this one? Is it more robust and feels more solid?

Looks good. The race s may be a slightly better watch at a similar price. But the question is, is it enough for people to jump ship? I hate switching systems. So this would be an option for me to consider. Will likely wait on the apex pro 3 at this point as my original pro still serves me very well. Watches made to last, not to be replaced every year. That's the coros way.
@ChaseTheSummit
@ChaseTheSummit 3 ай бұрын
I also see them catering to different markets. The Suunto Race S has a nicer build quality and a more complex menu system along with some wellness perks like "Body Resources". COROS as mentioned in my video I view more as a "tool" that doesn't get bogged down with too much fluff or excessive features. I think most people can easily take a Pace Pro out of the box and get up and running in a few minutes while Suunto will require a slight learning curve. Both are great, it just sort of depends which type of person you are!

The adapter is cool but you still have to "bring something to charge it". Would have been better if it had a USB-C port. All modern phones have it with some sort of IP rating.
@ChaseTheSummit
@ChaseTheSummit 3 ай бұрын
The problem with USB-C is it's water resistance. It's fine for phones that are moderately "splash proof" but it's not so great for watches with ATM5 water resistance for swimming. The only real answer is to move to a wireless charger like Apple or Google but then you're still carrying something around to charge it. I don't mind the little USB-C adapter on the COROS!

I need your input. I have been in an Apple Watch 3 but I can’t stand the battery life. I am a casual fitness guy who runs, hikes, jump rope, lifts weights and ski’s. I am trying to decide on the best bang for my buck and overall value. Heart rate accuracy and battery life matter to me along with decent gps….. Anyway, I was able to get a Garmin fénix 7 sapphire solar for 490 bucks on sale BUT it’s still in the box… since I am also researching the Amazfit T- Rex 3 and this watch. I care more about the overall value and a watch that will serve me well for a long time. I have also considered the coros vertix 2s. I do like the look of a slightly beefed up watch even tho my wrists are smalller. Which watch do you think is the best deal and value ? Should I keep the Garmin fénix 7 sapphire solar that I got at a great deal ? Or should I return it and go for the amazefit t-rex3 or a coros? Any input is greatly appreciated and thank you so much for all the great content you put out for us all
@ChaseTheSummit
@ChaseTheSummit 3 ай бұрын
This really depends on what you're doing and what features you value. None of these sports watches will compare to an Apple watch when it comes to "smart features" like LTE, speaker/microphone, apps, etc... But as a dedicated sport watch the Fenix 7 Sapphire is a great option and it has superior mapping/navigation compared to just about any other brand. Do you value mapping? That's the easy answer. If you don't care about smartwatch features or mapping as much the COROS Pace Pro would make a great option and is arguably the best value in your list.

Absolutely! The Pace Pro could handle distances of 100 miles for most people as long as you're not running Hard Rock or something!

so, why is the apex 2 pro $100 more? cos the titanium? and this seems to be coros answer to the forerunner 265. i'm thinking of ditching my forerunner 265 for this. $100 cheaper and seemingly all the same fitness features. i think the beauty of coros is not having the bloat - wallet, spotify, etc. hopefully they stick to strickly fitness. if you want an apple watch, buy an apple watch.

Mainly the build materials. Sapphire lens, titanium front/back. But also keep in mind the Apex 2 Pro is an older device and will likely be updated in the near future.

Does the PacePro have the well-known Coros Pace delay issue?
@ChaseTheSummit
@ChaseTheSummit 3 ай бұрын
It seems slightly better but every GPS watch in existence has some level of pace delay. That's the reality of using GPS position for pace.

Surely this and the suunto race s will force Garmin to eventually make their prices more sensible. Those two are comparable to the 965 which is almost double the price. Garmin can’t rely on brand loyalty forever and their Fenix prices are ludicrous.
@ChaseTheSummit
@ChaseTheSummit 2 ай бұрын
@@stedoesstuff the 965 still has a few advantages like far more advanced mapping and useful training/wellness tools like body battery and training readiness. But for $350 the Pace Pro and Race S are certainly banger devices!

Coros hit a homerun here, or have they? It's 399€ in Europe so it is competing with Polar M3, Suunto Race/Race S and Forerunner 265. What I think they fall on here is the design. It doesn't look good at all if you compare to Polars M3 or Suunto's Race. Or am I so different that I don't see the beauty in it?

Faster Processor, Mapping, AMOLED Display, significantly longer GPS-On battery life, ECG, slightly better build quality... those are the main differences compared to the Pace 3. Is that worth $100 USD premium? In my opinion yes!

That's an issue with just about every GPS watch due to a bit of GPS lag. It's slightly better on the Pace Pro but still not exactly "real time"
