One day about 10 years ago, I pulled into a gas station to pump gas. Someone had left a little sticker on the gas pump that said, "Read Chomsky." I knew who he was, but put it off. But one day, I bought a Chomsky book & have been a fan ever since. We need more intellectuals like him, who are willing to do the research & educate the rest of us.

@JimboParadox Chomsky never says that you should believe him just because he has studied a certain topic. On the contrary. He says: do not believe me. Go and study this topic for yourself. Chomsky offers advice and ideas. But he would not want you to accept any idea just because it comes from him. His point is: do not just accept what other people tell you. Go and and find out for yourself! Think for yourself!
@dfghj2415 жыл бұрын
@JimboParadox but the interesting is that you won't find Chomskys information anywhere else without some rigourous research of your own. and i mean reading several books from authors you didn't know existed from back 200 years ago and then analyzing the impact of their ideas (which you have to understand fully, and compare with traditional developments of the time) with data avaiability from the time as well, and then do this until today. With the fact that alot of the works of scholars that have influence on policy makers on all the major empires in history are simple propaganda, written to convince sectors of their respective countries population that "this is the way foward" while some more technical works indeed carry out the frankness of their methods, whatever they were, makes the task even more daunting at a second glance. So you can see what chomsky is (at least to me). He seems to be a translator between gargantuan amounts of information of which i would have no hope (let alone training) to go through in my lifetime, and my life experience. and i personally think thats very valuable. yes there are biases, thats how the world seems to work on the human level, but damn the amount of sources he cites on most of his lectures and books gives you a direction to begin doing your own research if you have that time. Per example, most of his "opinion" on the imperialistic nature present in the founding of the USA comes straight from the mouth (or pen) of the founding fathers.

Thanks for sharing! Noam Is one of my all time favorite teachers. Mostly it's a state of Crisis in Consciousness our world is suffering from. People are so use to looking outside themselves they can't awaken enough to see that unity amongst all humans. ( The Divinity from within ) We become brutal and selfish not thinking of the others. The parents are raising their children this way. I see it in my daughters school. Problems will always arise more greed, more policies in place less for the majority of the population because people forgot we belong to one another..Because peoples energies are focused on what they see all around them. Everyone is busy today running around. The. Neighbourhoods are empty in the day because people are trying too hard to bite a chuck of what the 1% has. Fancy Vacations, Monster homes, Designer clothes, fancy cars..etc, We have become an external world. If the 99% focused on each other the tables could be reversed to an abundant world for all. Policies would change, people would see the miracles in giving and be happy like our parents before us. Because More never made anyone happy. But It will take a shift in consciousness to make this happen for people to see themselves in others. Thank you. Noella Oneness Canada

Seeing this play out right now. Under Michigan’s Emergency Financial Act, the state has the ability to step-in and help out public schools when they have repeatedly tested poorly (MEAPS etc). Michigan’s plan involves privatizing education. A charter school system set the standard for education and received state money for doing so. This eliminates the democratic process (involving OUR EDUCATION) for communities. It also shifts accountability from the state. The impact on teachers and children is severe. It jeopardizes the future of communities that continue to cycle through poverty. Our schools are becoming more segregated, education should serve as an opportunity--the great equalizer....Michigan's Emergency Financial Act is a double-edged sword, it helped us get out corruption like Detroit's Kwame, but the wording and the power it gives should cause more concern.

Under the current UN league table, the preeminent education system is that of Finland - much good content here on KZbin. The decline of Western Education (there being a few rare exceptions, such as some found in North-Western Europe), could scarcely have come at a worse time - much of the West being in the grip of chronic deficit; China turning out more high quality graduates in 1 field, than what many other nations turn out for *all* graduates (as a responsible state, withe capacity to do so, should). Unethical as it may be, but whilst China enjoys the speed of policy creation, and practical implementation, offered by totalitarian direction, the false democracies of some Western states offers the worst of all worlds - slow policy creation and implementation, steered by the inept at one of end of the spectrum, and the unabashedly corrupt at the other. If things don't change, many of us, our children, and their children... could be condemned to a very bleak future. Change is not only long overdue, it's vital.

Thank for your reply. I agree that we will always have those who "can" yet "won't" succeed or attain independence. But the current state of things is making it hard for even the well educated to find or keep good jobs. The mortgage crisis was fueled largely by eased regulations and greed, and states like California are paying for it by cutting funds from various areas. We can't base our values and ideas for success on what robber barons did a century ago, but privatizing ed. is no the way.
@daisyhardiman777610 жыл бұрын
It is evident that all systems fail because people in great mayority tend to forget about each other's rights and needs. A person can be very smart doing business and creating jobs, however, that doesn't give that person the right to dominate the rest of the population and subyugate them to his will, and that I think is the biggest failure of capitalism. The drive for compensantion becomes into a greedy monster where those with different qualifications unwillingly become entangled, and are seen as dead weight so they must be enslaved and abused. The key to the problem is to respect the earth and our fellow men, sounds simple but we have learn to be individuals, selfreliant , and achievers, and it wouldn't be so bad if this didn't make us believe some people are better than others and hence, they diserve to have more.

Is it the case (I don't have a sure judgement on this) that government should be looked at as the battleground where the awake part of the public fights the predatory plutocracy? Or it it that government has become part of the problem, part of the parasitic plutocracy, or kleptocracy, as some call it? Why should the Maschine stop, in the end every thing plays in the same system, first we got rid of the kings, than the replacement the aristocrats, now we got the land Lords... But they got replaced by the hypercapotalist.... The problem is human society it self...
