Appreciate this video as I’ve had a similar sentiment since at least 2022. A few thoughts I have about the situation: - Those that have assets are still winning. Cash is trash. Obviously as you mentioned real estate is hard to get into for Gen Z but stocks aren’t. But if you’re just holding on to cash you’re becoming more and more poor by the day. - Prices are never going back down, no matter what happens, which is a shitty reality. - The internet ruined the dating game forever. Glad I met my girl in 2018 because there’s no value in dating anymore unless you’re rich and can absorb being financially taken advantage of. - Geomaxing provides short term relief if your cool with leaving family behind and all that stuff. From a pure financial perspective I think remote job earning USD and living in Asia/some parts of Europe or living 30-45 minutes from a major city is the only way not to be reminded of how expensive everything is every 10 minutes and still enjoy life a little. Overall our time on this earth is limited, and you probably have less time than you think or the time will go a lot faster than you think. Spend time doing things that bring you joy before you can’t anymore. Enjoy the videos my man keep making them.

Its a double edged sword because if the people in power are doing bad then the people in power need replacing. If the system is bad, and depending on the circumstances, then the system needs replacing.

We’re social creatures and current society feeds a lot of antisocial behaviors. Corporate greed is one of them, as is “online only” culture, traffic violence, regular violence, mass raid-style theft, and war profiteering. It’s not one giant conspiracy but a decentralized network of separate conspiracies motivated by the worse parts of human psychology. People do what’s in their personal direct interest and externalize the costs, rationalizing their impacts on others.

This is much how I feeel like today. I studied mechanical engineering, believing that I could actually create technology that helps people. I am still in college doing my masters, but the outlook in the job market scares me to death. My friends barely get to stay at one company. There is barely anyone doing something that could be called beneficial for society. It is all oil- and gas industry or some programming job such as infortainment for automakers. Who really cares about this work? Who really find meaning in doing infotainment? I can't answer this to me. Is it just a way of exchanging time for money? At the same time, 90% of jobs offered in my country Germany are in the automotive industry. This is the industry, that claims to solve our future by technology but actually lobbies and does everything it can to prevent any change. They prevented hybrids, evs and any changes to public infrastructure through heavy government ties for decades. It is no coincidence that our train network shrunk considerably and that trains are at an all time low of 64% punctuality. It is in the best interest of these companies to make everyone believe that there is no way around driving a car. I know this might sound strange for you Americans. But I believe our people/area density is about 10 times as high. There are countries such as the netherlands that were able to demonstrate that this is enough to actually build great public infrastructure that benifits the people. Whilest here it has become a young vs old, liberal vs conservative societal conflict. People glued themselves on roads to prevent cars. People sue cities once only a singel street got a bike lane. It is absurd. Well, where was I? This industry goes only for the profits. Remember clean diesel? It was only invented to sell the surplus of heavy oil destillates that no one wanted to buy in Europe. A huge list of fake studies were made to claim diesel being Eco friendly. This was used tu pursue the EU to guve major tax breaks on diesel cars. At this time the managers in charge already new that the benifit was neglible and that NOx emissions actually are higher and a risk to public health. Nothing was made about it. Istead they wennt all out to claim that Diesel is now super clean. I remember seeing VW superbowl ad, when I was abroad in 2014. And this idea is still in the heads of the public. Especially the idea that a good diesel car can clean the "dirty" city air throut its great exhaust system. Actually there was technology to acvtually get the exhaust gases to a comparable level as petrol engines. They just deliberately chose not to implement it the right way, because it would have been more expensive. So how di I feel about joining one of these mega-companies? One of their most recent trends is to output more models in shorter time. We are not talking about majorly different models or models that needed rework. It is just done to create more sales. And all of the research currently is about how AI can help create more products. WHO NEEDS MORE? WE NEED BETTER, REPAIRABLE and possibly EV. It has all become absurd.

Definitely true points made. I recently took up running and that’s been my escape from reality. I don’t have to think about anything, just enjoying the views, the breeze, the video I’m listening to and the feeling of accomplishment when I’m done. It definitely feels suffocating though going to the same job everyday waiting for 5 o clock to roll around just to enjoy my 4-5 hours of freedom before going to bed. Life is made better with other people though! Let’s game or talk or something if you need someone!

I was your age during the Great Recession. The job market was terrible then, wages were low, but at least day-to-day things were cheaper. Not sure what I can say to get you out of the existential dread, but things do get better. It took me almost to age 40 before I was able to buy a house, but I also made the tough decision to move out of a high cost of living city (Seattle) to a medium cost of living suburb (Chicago) to make it happen. Renting is fine, especially when you're young - I did that for over 20 years before the home purchase. You and most Gen Z folks can probably do it to, but you have to be patient and have a solid partner you can purchase a home with. Seriously, it gets better.

It's sad that people your age are also reaching the same conclusion. Generally, I thought this was reserved for people my age (nearing 40). But I think you're right. As a fellow IT specialist working for a multinational bank, making a 6-digit salary, I am overwhelmed by lack of purpose of my activity. It is all devoted to making a handful of rich people even richer. I think you're on the spot, so I don't have much to add. Just ignore those saying, you are playing the game wrong, because you should be doing X, when the game is rigged from the outset, and nothing you can do, apart from winning a lottery or marrying into a millionaire/politician family can make give you any sense of agency. The problem is that dumb people don't know they're dumb. So, cherish your relationships, make friends, read books (all of this has already been predicted by many, now labelled, "leftists"), read while it is still allowed, because it's difficult to say how long it is still going to be. If by any chance you haven't, start with Orwell. Even certain capitalist writers will tell you that existing oligopoly and oligopsony is not good for any of us (that's why suggestions from other generations to just change the job are so hilariously misguided), and it's going to get much worse. Just remember that a million dollars in the right politician's pocket is worth much more than a million votes in some ballot or poll.

In short words, boomers are refusing to lower their prices and we will see inventory rise even higher soon. People refuse to lower rhrir prices befause they will be upside down on their loans. I think our economic problems stem from a variety of reasons. CEOs getting overpaid, people who are both educated and uneducated NOT getting paid fair wages for fair work. The rich and corporations NOT paying the real actual amount of $ in taxes they should pay. Outsourcing jobs to other countries. I also believe too that some people simply don't make enough $ because sometimes it's their own lack of ambition, lack of education, allowing themselves to be manipulated, etc. The list goes on ad infinitum, but I do think the main reasons for our country being less financially successful has a lot to do with simple greed and voting in politicians, who only care about themselves & their own personal finances and not actually listening to their constituents. Great video and I agree with your thoughts! Glad someone else understands our economic problems.

One step at a time. Keep active, keep chugging along. You’ll get where you want to go but it’s a process. You aren’t going to own a home. You will buy a studio first, then sell it and use your greater income for a townhouse. You may need to geo arbitrage for a house, but it ain’t going to be in NYC or probably even Seattle. It’s all a card game, you get dealt cards and roll with it, make smart calls and be ready for your opportunities when they come around.

I agree on all levels man it's tough out there, I'm 37 and have been around awhile I recall prices being much much lower than currently. I grew up going out to fast food and being able to eat under $5-$10 for a meal and being able to eat on a budget if you wanted to. Everything has soared in price, you definitely have to be mindful of spending to get through these times. I always say focus on needs before wants, also never compare yourself to others because on the outside they may appear to be doing ok but really are usually deep in debt themselves. A lot are doing ok and found a way to level up in the current times and that's great as hard work pays off. You will find a path that is right for you and you will make it and reach a lot of your goals so don't sweat it. Everything takes time and sometimes longer than we'd like but everything always ends up working out. Sometimes it's best to ignore what is said to be the American dream or what you're supposed to have or do and just find what realistically makes sense and enjoy your life and family. Does it mean to stop striving for more and reaching for the better life absolutely not. Hang in there man you are still young, we will all get through this rough patch even if it seems impossible. Keep spreading your knowledge and never stop learning you will be going places with your focus and character never let anything derail you!

The American Dream has never been what people think it is. It has always been debt wrapped in the flag. There’s a great article about it on Simple Finance Bytes. Basically, the things people are willing to finance (houses, cars, etc.) generate interest to feed the banking industry. Debt drives the economy so they have to sell you a dream that involves debt. There is a way to stop it - stop paying interest and stop buying things that aren’t necessary. If we all did that, we’d bring the system to its knees.

It's a crappy situation man, drown us in endless unproductive media and useless and unethically created products and make us little numb noodles walking around just paying for our own demise. Ive deleted a lot of my socials and trying to do community organizing and just trying to be present and grounded to whats important. Its a tough battle and we may not win it in our lifetimes, but we need to fight to win back control of our lives from mega corporations, and every little bit counts. Keep pushing, keep energizing your community, we got this.

“Corporate Greed” is the boogeyman that is an easy scapegoat for the real issue. When you print money at unprecedented rates you wind up with too much money chasing too few goods, which leads to inflation. People want to think that prices go up because of greedy companies. If that’s true then the opposite would be true as well. A 42 inch flat screen is way better and cheaper than it was 15 years ago. Does that mean the companies that make TVs are somehow benevolent instead of greedy? How do you measure greed anyway? 🤔 Blame the money supply, not the boogeyman

While the people who live at home or can barely afford rent eat out a lot. 4) Airfare is still the same price as it was 30 years go - just less service 5) You moved to NYC, how bad can it be? 6) Get employment that you enjoy, that's what I did as well as an additional part time job that I enjoyed, you will never work a day in your life. 7) When I was five years old I knew I was blessed being born in this country - traveling around the world just confirms it.
