Can we give it up for my girl Victoria for a second?? Poor thing was being forced into an arranged marriage, and after meeting him and realizing it might not be so bad bc he actually seemed like a nice man, she hears he’s run off with someone else and then she’s forced to be with a man she feels absolutely nothing good for. And once she finds out what’s really going on, she does everything in her power to try to help Victor even though she really could have been locked away in her room or sent to an asylum, as happened frequently with women in this era who disobeyed. This girl risked everything for that man 😤

People talk about how Victor never loved Emily which is true but more people gotta realize that Emily didn’t love Victor either. She simply loved the idea of marrying him because she wanted to be married but she truly did not love him. Some families and eras were much more strict in what was believed as proper. Sewing and learning about gardening was utilitarian. Music, art, and reading of novels (anything other than recipes and the Bible, really) was considered a waste of time and even, for some, unwomanly and ungodly. It wasn't all Jane Austen-y for many women, especially during the stringent Victorian era... hence the names Victor and Victoria, to show this as something gothic -- which means narrow and unbending in manners, freedoms, and personal destiny. The same for the concept of love and/in marriage.

@@hillietyfae Or...you can see it as on-the-job training. Boys and girls learned lifelong skill sets with minimal or no academics, depending on era and socioeconomical level. But poor girls learned how to sew, keep house, cook, and could be a housewife or maid, cook, or whatever in a great house. So, unless a parent was a musician or they had a talent someone saw in him or her, all that stuff was left for general festivals, church, etc.
@LA_HA4 жыл бұрын
@Linette Sutherland Apologies for the first response. I wrote Emma in error. Here is the corrected response... Yes, this is so. Parents want the best for their children, boys And girls. But, what they believed was best depended on much, including the time in which they lived. Here's a simple truth, while people are slow to change, Time does so quickly. We're discussing a different time period. And while there were women who did amazing things throughout history, most were women of their time; just as you will be a woman of yours. If you're willing, there are some books or their TV/movie versions you can view to get a sense of what it was like for people during this time period. For example, Pride and Prejudice. The novel is by Jane Austen. The best version of it is the BBC series with Colin Firth. There's a movie version and an older BBC version, but I highly recommend the Colin Firth version. This shows the upper class version of life for women of their time. To see dramas about women of the lower class, there's a BBC series that's a bit of a soap opera, but it shows a shift in time periods between the late 1800s to just after WW1 called Upstairs Downstairs. This covers some interesting insights about the time in which men and women lived, so though it's a work of fiction, look at this story as true enough. There's a more recent series called Downton Abbey, but for the purpose of this conversation, the older is probably a little better. If you decide to check out both, either, or all, if you haven't already, it would be cool to hear back from you about what you think of them.

There are some fanarts of Emily in her "alive version" and she's extremely beautiful. I like both, Victoria and Emily, both are sweet, both are nice, kind and innocent; however, Victor has to be with Victoria, they're a great match and they have a sweet chemistry. Usually people prefers Emily because she interacted more with Victor than Victoria did, but you can see Victor liked Victoria. Hee just felt pity for Emily's story, but he didn't love her. I like how Emily was set free and turned into butterflies. She couldn’t move on when she was killed as she wanted to be married. Sure, Victor loved Victoria more than Emily, but he was willing to give her dream by marrying her. Though Emily saw the truth and believed Victor and Victoria are meant to be than she is with him. She turns into butterflies due to finally feeling at peace and that even though she didn’t get married, she was able to have a wedding that was every bride’s dream. I think in my opinion is the true beauty of the movie. By having Victor help Emily’s soul and setting her free so she could move on.

Fun fact, some people say if a person died suddenly or violently they usually linger around instead of moving on. Due to their cause of death without reason or even knowledge about why they died, the soul stays in limbo until they have an answer if any or they stick around until they've right the wrongs. It is also said that if they have purpose keeping them around, they'll stay until it's done. If you see the end Emily finally moved on, she knew who killed her and why. On top of that, she found love although he didn't exactly see a future with her being dead and all.

Just finished watching this movie 10 seconds ago and honestly I'm so glad Victor and Emily did not end up together. Tho I empathize with Emily's tragic death, I also don't think that's enough for her to take Victor's honest mistake and use it completely against him. In fact, throughout the entire movie I actually found myself rooting more for Victoria. The lengths at which she went thru to save the man she loves is really admirable. Personally, I just think her and Victor r a better fit because both of them actually grew a connection right from the get go when they first met. While some might say Victor fell in love with Emily during his stay in the underworld, I personally don't think that's the case. They shared a cute moment in the piano scene together but I don't think Victor reciprocated Emily's love. Even when he finally agreed to marry her for real, I felt like it was only because he found out Victoria was already bethroded to another and there wasn't much left for him to live for anyway. Which sucks because I think he should marry who he actually loves... And he did. It was honestly so refreshing for a story to actually give the protagonist a love interest that makes sense instead of going for the main lead just because they're the main lead. Emily seeing herself in Victoria's shoes and learning the lesson that if he truly loves Victor then she must let him be happy even if it means letting him go makes this movie far more impactful and deeper in meaning. This movie is truly unlike any other and I recommend to anyone interested.

The blue butterflies are actually blue morphos, which are known for being attracted to corpses. The fact that Emily gave up her shot at happiness, just because she knew he wouldn't be. The way they aged each skeleton for their time periods. The way they changed the entire theme of the movie from victorian london to the underworld. The children being happy again. the way they recognized their family members when they came back "upstairs". The way she danced in the moonlight when she came back. And honestly the small comic relief of her losing body parts all time time. This whole movie is just beautifully written. I will die on the hill that this movie is perfection

The corpse bride (2005) was actually the first stop motion film shot using digital cameras. This meant that they could look back on their work instantly and be more innovative with the camera work. Before then only film cameras were used in stop motion, meaning that they wouldn’t know how a scene turned out until the film was developed, so if there was a mistake the entire scene would need to be redone.

Emily is already adorable. But the fact that Helena Bonham Carter makes her voice makes her more adorable. I mean... She is great singing! And her cute laugh/ giggle, I love it 🥺🖤💛

"With this hand I will cup your" imma use that line on my partner and end it with "chin" and see what happens. Will edit with the result when I see him next. Result: I did this when he came over, we were in the kitchen, and I didn't realize he was getting a drink since his back was to me. I said the line, and he started choking before I finished and took his chin into my hand. "That's not where I was expecting you to go." we laughed and I made sure he was fine. We watched this video together afterwards so he'd understand what I was doing. He says Hi to all of you btw.

I got goose bumps watching this again. The corpse bride was my favorite movie as a kid and Emily’s dress was everything to me, heck I even wanted my wedding to be corpse bride themed and Tim Burton’s art definitely inspired my current art style.

I don't know enough about Johnny Depp's situation to know either way. But if he's innocent, I hope the truth comes out. Nobody deserves to be punished for false preconceived notions.
@MF-oj6pi4 жыл бұрын
@@everestcanyon5647 amber heard admitted she faked her evidence in court, and Johnny still got asked to step down from fantastic beasts. All his exes spoke in his defence, and his children. Even ambers exes came forward and said she was a total abuser herself. It’s a horrible situation for him and if u want all the details look up the case, I believe it’s still going on. ♥️
@everestcanyon56474 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I haven't been following it, I just heard the initial ruling and was like "There goes Fantastic Beast's continuity." If Johnny Depp is innocent, then this situation is just wrong. Of course, if Johnny Depp is innocent, the media is probably going to try to censor anything that says so anyway.
