Yes, that is exactly what I just did with a new floor in my 2012 class A. Called the flooring factory first and they confirmed silicone for an RV, then they told me "no warranty" on the RV application. I hired a pro as well and I'm glad I did.

I did constrution and like what I see. The small space would have moved without silicone. The foam pad you did not put in makes tapping sound. This silicon will be solid. Remember if you flood floor with big puddles of water it will still buckle. Normal water is fine. Good job!

@moosedrummer15 жыл бұрын
Installed 20 years. And I promise that silicone is not going to do a thing. Should have left the pad and glued the joints. You just defeated the whole purpose of the floor. And second, he said since it’s waterproof you don’t need the pad? Ok. Well one you just cut the floor life in half removing the pad and second you just took away added insulation. There are several things I could mention but just no sense in it. I just can’t believe you nailed and fastened a floating floor. Hell should have just used engineered glue down. This was hard to watch.
@drivingmylifeaway71494 жыл бұрын
Hello, currently putting this style floor in my bus, it's Pro core vinyl plank. Have to get my floor a little bit level keeps popping a part. Then plan on screwing everything over top of it. Cabinets, bed, it etc The box says it does not require underlayment, has like a black etch x in the back of the tile...
@moosedrummer14 жыл бұрын
Midnight Chevy you don’t have to put the pad under it but it makes it a lot more comfortable to walk on, as well as added insulation and some noise dampening. A common misunderstanding people have about “waterproof” flooring is that it is fail proof as well. Well the actual product is waterproof, meaning it will not break down from water exposure or rot. But if it floods it will get water under the actual floor covering and it will be trapped under the floor and start to mildew. I suggest sealing the perimeter with a good silicone like Lexel. But I would NEVER fasten a floating floor. It will most likely buckle over time. It’s made to move, and expand and contract. If you’re going to fasten it the go with a direct glue down with a high moisture content glue. There are a lot of options out there.
@moosedrummer14 жыл бұрын
Midnight Chevy and yes if it isn’t level within tolerance it will buckle. It’s a pain. Only thing about screwing stuff on top of it is if you change the flooring it’s a pain to demo. Plus you waste material. But it makes it easier for someone that doesn’t do it for a living to not have to make net cuts to cabinets. Good luck man.

Yep. As a floor layer, this is definitely hard to watch. No kneepads and no tape measure, I think his nickname should be "laser-eye". With a business name like that I hope he offers install warranty, cause with his concept of flooring, it's not going to last a "lifetime". I'd be surprised if expansion issues haven't already shown up.
@c0pyimitati0n8 ай бұрын
Why did you decide to install the flooring after everything else? Is it just because if you need to replace the flooring this makes it easier? I can't imagine will ever want to replace the flooring in my bus so I plan to install it first. That way there are less cuts.

Having installed flooring over the thin foam underlayment, I will agree that the way you did it will be much more pleasing to the ear. That stuff just causes the sound of footsteps to echo up back into the room. Using the silicone will transfer all that sound to the frame of the bus.
