My dad is a Veteran WWII UDT Frogman. Growing up, I was not much of a distance swimmer. He didn't teach me to swim fast, he taught me how to keep myself afloat and how to swim underwater. I could never outswim someone in a race, but I could float for hours, though I floated on my back. And I loved bobbing, just never knew it was a "thing." :D Love this video, I'll share it with dad.

Lol and here my dad trained me to do this as a kid "for fun". He was in the navy and worked with special ops, and he made it seem like a game when I was younger, but it actually is meant to keep you afloat in case you are thrown into the water and your limbs are all tied up. So if that ever happens to me, I'm prepared haha.

Went through Navy 2nd Class Dive school in 1983 Amphib Base Coronado. It was/is called "drownproofing" and eliminated a few folks from the class. Not that hard but it will find out if you have any fear of the water. Point I took from it going on to a career as a Navy Diver was if there is a problem..... relax. Panicking will kill you. Unless things have changed, all Navy Dive Programs do Drown Proofing (Navy Diver, EOD & SEAL) so not sure why this is called Navy Seal Water Challenge when the whole SpecOp community does it.

The bobbing isn't practical, it's a stress testing exercise. In 50ft water you just float or tread water
@MonumentToSin7 жыл бұрын
Keep as much air in your lungs as possible, which will keep your body floating near the surface. Each time you bob back up to the surface, release and suck in air as fast as possible before you sink down again. Repeat. This technique is not actually meant for shallow water, therefore you really shouldn't be sinking to the bottom in the first place. It's actually an exercise for the SEALS in case they are even thrown in the water with their limbs tied up.
@omerashraf21136 жыл бұрын

People. It`s not as hard as it looks. I´m not here to bragg, fact is from I was 15 to 19 I was training water trampolin and underwater rugby. We did this Navy Seal water challenge just to try if we could do it. It wasnt hard. Pool was actually 15 feet deep. We also made it more challenging and ziptied our feet and hands.....doesnt make it easier for the mind or physical aspect. Seeing ppl doing this and almost cheating, kicking with spread legs and doing bad turns...hmpf!! Trying to say that almost anyone can do this. It s all about beeing used to beeing under, in and on the water. Beeing safe in your mind and knowing where your limits are...you can train this in a couple of weeks. Sure some will have to get more used to it, just saying that it s your mind that s stoping you. Pretty sure proffesional swimmers will see this challenge as a easy, fun thing. A little practice and it s done. If you wanna try it, start easy...try to calm yourself, it IS a mindfuck but you can do it. Get used to beeing underwater and move around, get control of your body and know your limits...over time you will get better and finally you understand what I m saying :)

@IntricateCyborg6 жыл бұрын
You are blowing out too much air. Generally you will be able to sink with 2/3 of your air out. The 1/3 should be sufficient for you to. Move at least several metres. The crushing feeling generally occurs due to anxiety by not being confident
