About the producers "ripping up" Abby's 10% contract . . . Abby would have had a SIGNED LEGAL COPY of that contract no matter what the producers ripped up. Evidently there was never a contract giving Abby 10% of what the children made on the show. Abby SHOULD have had contracts with any of the performers who got work through ABBY's DIRECT EFFORTS. I don't think she did - possibly Kendall's video or Mackenzie's "Girl Party" if anything. More often we saw Abby INTERFERING with anyone's ability to get work, like their attempt to do a KZbin video with a young man video "star". As for any of the performers getting work through their being seen first on the Dance Moms Show, that percent would have gone to the owners of the show or Lifetime TV. Abby probably thought she should have gotten a percentage of Maddie's income because SIA saw Maddie on the show. In many instances that would have been the case, but the Dance Moms Show was never expected to be anything when it started, so NOBODY thought about making big money from it down the line when they expected to do only 4 episodes. They all probably had basic contracts and they were all stuck with those terms.

When Abby says we’re rich and don’t need you any more she is talking about Maddie and Melissa because she favored Melissa and Maddie over the other moms and girls.
@ang45882 жыл бұрын
Except Maddie has literally nothing to do with that and was a child. Abby CHOSE to favor Maddie, and still abused (manipulated, groomed, isolated, etc.) and used her, just in a different way to the other girls. She forced her into a co-dependent relationship, and used a give and take method of approval, followed by berating, to allow her to form a deep attachment. Maddie quite literally didn’t have the capacity to “use” her, since Abby was the grown woman, and Maddie was thrown on tv, forced to be around her 24/7, when she hadn’t been previously. All she wanted to do was dance, and suddenly, everything was turned upside down once they realized they were stuck in reality tv contracts. Not to mention, Melissa had been trying to leave the show since S3, before Maddie had outside success. Abby’s literally just narcissistic and someone that enjoys twisting a narrative for sympathy.

@angieliang84753 жыл бұрын
I think that the show was overall very messy and generally a pretty horrible environment for everyone. Abby said that she was in a bad place financially when the show started and she thought it was her ticket out of debt and everything. I feel like the producers are mostly at fault for instigating most things, but the show just amplified and increased what was already there. These people may not have been terrible people, but they certainly weren't exactly saints either (the closest being Holly and Nia). The show provoked everyone in the perfect places and it showed more and added to things like Abby's desperation for money. Hollywood is terribly toxic and the producers were really looking for something that would gain them so much money. I saw Cathy and Abby's call and I agree that they could've made it so much more about dance. Show the full dances, share how they have to re-block numbers when the kid gets sick at the last minute. In fact, I myself as a fan would've loved it more if it followed how the girls rehearsed everyday, things they did outside of competitions like pageants and showcases. And maybe Abby and Gianna could share their creative process. That type of show could've made a much more healthy environment for everyone. Unfortunately the producers were so hung up on gaining money and creating scenes that would go crazy viral due to the insane behaviour from the cast. After all, its so much easier to create anger scenes and just leave after you finish filming it. The internet runs on toxicity most of the time anyway so what a great way to earn tons and tons of money. In the end, really the producers gained the most benefits. The kids were left with terrible experiences, anxiety and so much less passion for dances than they began with. The adults are left with a burning hatred for Abby, Abby is left with less money than she began, and is in a wheelchair. The show did terrible things to everyone and it truly shows the horrible behaviour of Hollywood people that treat people like objects, financial aids. Basically, the show amplified what was already there, added on to it, everyone was affected mostly negatively by it and who knows if the producers ever felt moral remorse in what they were doing
