I have a small bible collection I've kept over the years that includes a Scofield reference bible (copyright renewed 1945), given to me years ago by a now deceased former coworker. Her son was given this bible down on Lester Roloff's ranch in Texas, where he'd been sent by his folks for his drug problem. At the time I was given this bible, I had become an independent baptist and definitely heard more than one man say in those years that he thanked God for Scofield (and Brother Roloff, what a character he was). Thanks for the sentimental memories. Long story short, I'm thankful I met Terry and Carol McLean a few years later at their bookstore in Beavercreek, Ohio, and over time became mid acts in my thinking.

Speaking of books, Haleys Handbook ( not necessarily dispensational), was eventually handed over to Billy Graham. The handbook originally had much content opposing the Catholic Church. When the Billy Graham association reprinted it, they left all of that content out. That's because Billy considered the Pope his brother in Christ.

You do the same thing with Calvinism which obviously does have wrong doctrine but God choosing whom he will save by his good pleasure is a doctrine that runs through the entire scripture
