We added 300 lbs of weight to our Camaro Street Stock to be able to compete in a special race in the Modified Street Stock class at Tennessee National Raceway, Hohenwald, TN.
We learned the adding a significant amount of ballast would drastically change how the car drives and it also upset our polar moment characteristics for the car. Luckily we figured out a good change to make to correct our setup and make the car handle MUCH better in the Feature race. If you are looking to real down to earth examples of what street stock racing looks like and how to figure out adjustments at the track your hunt is over.

Feature was much better, I truly appreciate you pointing things out, like being tight on and being able to look at the car and tell, watching your driver. I’ve been around racing a long time but, as far as learning set up and changing it at that track, I’m basically a rookie to that. When you told us notice how your front end was point out, then you came out for the feature, I was paying more attention to that, it stinks watching a car like yours out there stuck behind a cars, when you could tell you where definitely faster than them but they was just fast enough to be in the way, it really made you work hard to get around them. Thanks for taking time out to show and explain things that was going on, and how to notice it as a driver or a crew member, and to explain how you went about correcting it! Thanks again greatly appreciate you! Go J2!🏁🏁🏁🏁

Thanks Thomas, I think videoing has helped me in that area because it has made me be honest with myself about where I suck and it was sure that area. ALSO let me tell you the secret....I have my pedal setup with a huge amount of travel. I drilled more holes in the lever so I could get about 5 inches pedal travel. From idle to full is literally the total range I can move my toes. It makes it SO much easier and comfortable for me to work in that 1/2 to 3/4 throttle area when coming off the corner on dry slick. Figure out the total range you "could" work your toes and then rework your throttle to match it. I promise you it will make a big difference in your control. :)

My friend David Cove's son is driving it and usually we get to race together a few times a year. Hopefully he will get in a few races this year as well. :)

Car might not have been setup perfect for how you like it in the feature but was a huge improvement. One thing I did notice you made a big throttle control adjustment at 20:13 looked a lot smoother and faster through the corners. Loved the video man!

I see it now. You caught that one and I missed it in review. Let off sooner and smoothed out that entry and you could see the car handle much better through the middle.

Forgot to say have to convert every measurement as well as we are split imperial and metric like small measurements under an inch we will do in metric no need for fractions then but anything bigger goes in imperial. All our temps are done in Celsius no Fahrenheit ,but things like speed we still do mph and tyre pressure is still psi (some spelling is different) and don't get me started on them torx bolts sizes we just go on the size of the hammer to get the biggest bit in

Ha! I work extensively with Metric in my regular work but do everything in the shop in english units. I agree metric is simple but converting back and forth is a pain. I should make a T shirt with just "25.4" on it.... inside joke for engineers. :)

Thanks Nick, I appreciate the feedback. That 54% rear was definitely helping me put all I had to the ground off the corner in that feature :)

I think I would change lf spring pressure, u have alot of swing wieght if u put wieght in trunk? But I never ran front stagger also I ran min stagger on rear as possible, I also ran a swaybar, that will get u in and off corner, more fine tuning on chassis.
