I work as a Community Health Worker on the city's jail team, and one of the things I love most is going to the jail to meet new clients. I'm also a nursing student and man, I cannot wait to be a jail nurse. I can do so much good as a nurse who also has so many connections outside the jail to resources. Other nurses keep telling me that I shouldn't go straight for correctional nursing, but I'm gonna do me.

I always see corrections nurse jobs on indeed and they pay so good I’m thinking about it 🤔 is it scary? I worked as a nurse in a psychiatric facility before and man it was wild af 😩 good thing about the jail is you have actual guards with weapons tho
@NurseAviiiii15 күн бұрын
it was at first but being that one its jail 😂 & two im a new nurse but now I love my job, I would say its probably same as psych just in a jail setting. plus like you said you have guards with you always where I work so you will never do anything alone but no weapons at our just mace so if anything goes down its all man power and mace if need be.

Why everyone say it’s not a good first job for a new grad. You don’t learn alit or get to polish your nursing skills. I understand why, because I’ve worked as a correctional officer. But how do you feel about it though?
@NurseAviiiii7 ай бұрын
I would agree if its a brand new nurse with zero medical experience but see me ive been a MA and PCT so ive worked office and hospital before soooo I didnt care about the " skills " or getting the bedside experience , i been there , done that & im completely okay with correctional health 😂 .

How is it working corrections? I am seriously thinking about switching, need something new.
@NurseAviiiii5 ай бұрын
honestly not too bad , it has its days but thats every job but the only complaint is my schedule tbh , i think I make good money coming in for the things we have to do and dont have to deal with .
