Corrupted Kin is Nickc01's second modded Hollow Knight boss after Inferno King Grimm, and it might be my favorite modded boss yet. It's extremely satisfying, fair yet challenging, and very unique. Similar to Inferno King Grimm, it takes some of the same mechanics from the fight, but makes the fight feel very fresh and enjoyable. I highly recommend trying this boss out!
This was played on a beta version of the boss which I helped test. It has since been updated and has been nerfed and buffed in different ways. Overall, this version is a little easier than the newest version. Give it a try and see the differences! :)

well, the infection wave part is really neat, but honestly, it doesnt seem so hard, the main reason i find the lost kin hard is because of the random ghosts spawning in the arena, and in this fight they don't spawn for most of the fight, don't get me wrong, i like this better, being screwed by RNG on the ghosts sucks, but the sheer amount of them makes lost kin fight harder for me

I meant by insane the design of the boss : when you see the lost lord's one it's just way better (waves physics are perfect, animations are smooth af, the general idea is great and the result is just giving me a bonn*r) This boss looks easy and freakin fun to play (not like markoth)

@@ebgurif The infectoin waves dont act like normal shockwaves, not even slightly. Normal shockwaves are just sprites with a hitbox, the infection waves need some kind of physics engine, something hollow knight probably doesnt even has in itself.

If I had to guess...the Pantheon takes the bosses in their "Prime State"...basically Pure Vessel was way stronger than what you see in the base game when it was taken over by the Infection...that would mean that Lost Kin is actually much stronger as it is now than when it was not corrupted. Sad thoughts but what can we do

@@cozeecofycat6531 Except Lost Kin isn't a Pantheon exclusive boss, it's just the dream version of Broken Vessel, so it's not the "Prime State" of Broken Vessel in the eyes of the Godseekers, it's what Broken Vessel thinks of itself as in its dreams.

@@cliffthecrafter what if they aren't thinking? What if it's the infection? I mean, they're already dead before the fight, and yeah they reach out their hand when they die, but lost kin doesn't. That's something i've often wondered, why doesn't lost kin reach their hand out? I think it's because the light seeds are thinking of being more powerful so they can fend you off are being chased around in the ancient basin. This could be the same with soul tyrant, because i feel like more bosses should've been in their not corrupted state but soul tyrant's eyes are still orange.

The name lost kin might be the Knight realizing that he and broken vessel are basically the same, but broken vessel was lost to the infection.

Great boss. Even though I love the mechanics of the lava/corruption waves and they sync up great with the vessel it still kinda breaks the 2D perspective for me which I'm not a giant fan of. They are very nicely animated though.

The game has never had a full 2D perspective, there's parallax in every area that shows depth and the game is 3D under the surface to make that parallax look good.

@@twistedgwazi5727 The fact that I don't have the technical know-how to express the point 100% airtight doesn't make it wrong though and honestly it's a bit obtuse to zero in on my misuse of "2D perspective" in this context. Things on the front and back layer(s) don't damage the player in this game and other than Deepnest I can't think of an example where they even have anything more than very subtle animations. So the actual game still basically plays entirely on a single 2D layer with some added decoration layers. Suddenly having a boss attack on the foreground layer AND clipping through/over the floor of the game layer is a significant change to game mechanics. I probably still didn't use all these correctly but I'm hoping I got my point across

I know this sounds strange, but if Corrupted Kin had dream nail dialogue, it would probably be, "...ENEMY CLOSER..." It's the Radiance partly saying the phrase keep your friends close and your enemies closer, in reference to her using the Broken Vessel as a vessel of destruction. It could also be viewed as the Radiance's acknowledgment of the knight as her true enemy within her reach.

Finally! He is harder! This is the mod I NEED! (Or I'm gonna hate) Why I love it: The use of projectiles with the flying dash attack, theninfection water, the use of explosive life seeds, and the fact that the balloons are an actual threat because they will try to swarm you... I guess that explosive wave barrage is at the end so you can just you mantis claw to avoid the waves. Smart!

This is the perfect mix of challenge and enjoyability. As not everyone is a god gamer a lot of the other modded boss fights can make you feel you haven’t chipped the health down very much. This boss fight is reasonable in that you won’t be taking an insane amount of time to beat it but you can still enjoy the mini parkor in between.
