Hi Don I am not a big fan of monokote and solartex I really like using fiberglass and resin, but I am trying to make my this plane more scale looking, and I must say all your videos are very informative, thank you for all your help.

HI Don have you tried using a heat gun to help shrinking the pinking tape?

Hi Don, I have question on using pink- it, this may be a dum question, do you apply it after covering the elevator with solar tex?, thanks, Joe

Hi Joe. Yes, The pinks go on over to top of everything. On older planes, like WW I types...they used needle and string to tie the covering down to the ribs, which placed knots on top of the ribs. They then applied pinked, or torn fabric, on top of that lacing. On the Corsair, they used aluminum battens, that screwed down through the fabric into the top of the rib. They then applied pinked fabric on top of the battens, along with several coats of dope, to seal it all together. When the painting is 100% complete, you should still be able to see the pinked edges.

Hi Don It's Joe again I have the Ziroli hellcat and I am covering the tail surfaces with solar tex what is the proper heat for laying the material, I have some fine crinkels in the solar tex any solutions on that, you seem to be very knowledgable about doing this. Also the the pointed iron you were using did you purchase that through pink it.

Hi Joe. I usually have my Monokote iron set on something less than full blast. I don't have one of those Coverite thermometers, but they are probably a good investment for those just learning to cover. The little iron I'm using in the video is a Monokote Trim Tool. Very handy. Solartex can be forced to go around very compound curves very nicely, as can be seen in this video...but it takes patience, and about 4 hands...LOL
