This is not just a wireless K55. The K57 has the full implication of the ICUE software that the K55 lacks. I returned my K55 to get it. I happen to like the rubber dome switches so that was not an issue for me.
@KT37915A3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for taking the time to review this keyboard. My primary use case is work which is mainly software development, zoom calls, and general documentation, and communication through chat. For thIs, I think that this keyboard would be a good fit for users like me. What I love about this keyboard is that it has RGB lighting. I bought my first RGB keyboard (Razer Blackwidow Elite - Orange Switches) about 10 months ago, and when I was typing on the keyboard, the post on the M-key broke off. It is now not unusable, and shockingly it was not covered by the warranty, so until I find a good replacement, I am having to use an old Corsair k70 with Cherry MX Blue switches. I love it, but the keys are so loud, and I do at least five zoom calls a week with stakeholders, project managers, business analysts, and developers, and I don't like the loud, clicky sound when I am taking notes during the meeting. Although I have used nothing but mechanical keyboards for the past 5 years, I am not opposed to using a rubber-dome keyboard because they are quiet enough to not interrupt speakers when they are talking. But going back to the RGB, I really like the fact that this keyboard has the programmable RGB lighting feature. When I am on a call, I have programmed my pause button to mute my microphone, and when I am muted, the whole keyboard lights up red, and when it is unmuted, it is green. It is very important to know when I am muted and when I am not, so that I am not interrupting the meeting if I am having a side conversation. The only downside that I can think of with this keyboard is that I don't know if I would like to have a keyboard that might quit on me while I am doing a demo to 50 users. That would be terrible, and I am a little concerned that the battery would die, and I would have to scramble to find a backup which would look a little amateurish. I am going to look into other options, but I am considering giving this keyboard a shot. Thanks again for the video review.

The K55 only has 3 lighting zones, so it isn't the same. Also rubber dome is way quieter than mechanical switches which is a huge plus for me!

I have a problem with your claim about who would buy this keyboard, at 4:08 you say that people looking for this keyboard are people just getting into pc gaming, but I disagree, I am not new to pc gaming, however I do not use a mechanical keyboard or ever have, I use a chiclet keyboard from dell, as silence has been a big factor in what keyboard I use. I am also pro wireless. So seeing a keyboard, mechanical or not, that is wireless, and quieter then other keyboards at the same price point, really sells the keyboard to me. The type of switch doesn't matter to me. I guess my main point is, people who look to buy this keyboard are people who don't necessary care about key switches, having a sub 1ms wireless keyboard with bluetooth capabilities, wouldn't necessarily be bothered by having rubber dome switches. And yes, I do understand that in the products name It says "Gaming", but just because something says gaming in the product name doesn't mean that only gamers will buy it. p.s. I have no hate, this is my honest opinion and how I feel. I do not feel "wronged" in any way shape or form, I just wanted to express what I thought was something that was overlooked.

I love that this isn't a mechanical keyboard! I can't stand the sound and feel of mechanical keys. I'm still gaming on a K800. Sadly the sound this Corsair makes is still awful. I will keep waiting for that perfect replacement for my K800.... a wireless, backlit (no RGB would be nice), full-sized non-mechanical keyboard that doesn't look like a 14yo designed it in his spare time.
@GabrielAngelfire4 жыл бұрын
Thank you. I'm a fan of the K800 too, used for many years, but they are extremely fragile. Had 2 of them, a nasty fall and it's a lot of damage to it. Also, for using on the lap (as I do on the couch), in time it'll start to bend. Gave up on buying them. I'm looking at the Azio KB506W seems similar, and if it's fragile, at least it's cheap, lol.

Amen! I totally agree with you, I tried mechanical blue, red, black, brown switches. Romer-G switches as well. But none of them are for me... I still prefer rubber dome or chiclet keyboard. @johnbuscher71194 жыл бұрын
@@lucapiombini4655 The thing is, there's way more switches than that, and you can get a custom board that has switches that are nearly silent. Zilents, for example, are extremely quiet and still tactile. I've heard lubed silent reds are good. Aliaz are also fairly quiet. And they generally last longer than rubber dome, on top of getting good feedback while typing.

My 2021 Opinions: Pros: Looks nice (I don't need a metal keyboard) Key Height: I like it - mid key height I don't mind using though I typically prefer low profile Key Feel: This is very subjective but I really like the slight feedback, quiet (not silent) keys Corsair came up with. Intuitive, crisp yet non-clicky soft feel. Battery Life: Great 2.4Ghz, Bluetooth and Wired modes! Cons: The G1 Macro Key often gets hit when I am reaching for escape. I have several PCs and I only use this keyboard on one of them so I will probably never stop hitting it on accident 100% of the time. I don't really use macro keys at all and I would rather just not have them, especially on a wireless model. So far I've had issues controlling the RGB through Bluetooth which is the intended connection type. Overall I feel this Keyboard in 2021 is a good quality keyboard that gives you alot for the price. I use it for my multimedia front room pc, which I also use for gaming from the sofa, or when a visitor is over. My older of two sons uses this pc / keyboard extensively when he is here (around half the week). My Profile: 38 yr old Second Career Grad Student, Heavy Power PC user, Gaming of all but the very latest. Not a brand-loyal fan-boy.

I don't understand the hype of mechanical keyboards, it has the same letters and numbers as a rubber dome switch keyboard and they work the exact same. Only difference I've noticed is a difference in typing noise.
@rubencalzadorosado5 жыл бұрын
Remember that the K57 is the first Wireless RGB keyboard. Sure there are some other ones out there but all of those are not even full. The fact that this is the first proper RGB wireless keyboard, puts it up there as one of the best keyboards out there. Also since this is the first proper RGB Wireless keyboard it makes sense for Corsair to come back to one of there older designs so that they have something to start with. Actually, the fact that they even added more technology to the keyboard is pretty impressive. So if I were to review this keyboard, I would definitely recommend it. And if you do buy it, in the future generations of Wireless RGB keyboards you can say that you bought the first one (once again, I mean that the other ones don't have the necessary keys to be qualified as an actual Wireless RGB keyboard). 😀 I also forgot to mention that the keyboard being membrane doesn't mean it's bad, actually membrane keyboards can be really good too, so the fact that it's not mechanical doesn't mean that it's bad so you shouldn't agree with one of the other comments because it's membrane because it fits more with the RGB lights. Actually when my birthday comes I'm definitely buying this keyboard unless they release another Wireless RGB keyboard.😎

Never heard someone say so much false claims. First off some of the best keyboards you can buy are membrane or what they like to call mech dome now. And the vast majority of people gaming on Pc are gaming on a membrane keyboard not mechanical. Great review, and thank you for making me think about it a bit closer before buying. I personally prefer robber domes to the mechanicals ones but I can see why the majority of people prefer it the other way around. I love keys that give me plenty of feedback/resistance. For games I always map most keys, if not all, on the Num Pad side of the keyboard which is pretty unconventional. This increases the need for me to have high resistant at first, and with no resistance on follow through. Reds almost get there for me but not quite.

I love it and think it suits me quite well. I've had it for approx. a year. It's great for a home PC/theatre set-up like I have and for entertainment. I've also gamed on it and I have no complaints what-so-ever. Bluetooth vs Slipstream doesn't seem to have any noticeable difference in latency and Bluetooth extends the battery life AMAZINGLY! Having mechanical keys would definitely have been nice, but I am getting this for production/design softwares. The specs that made this this best possible choice for me, vs all other keyboards at high and low price ranges, is that fact that it is wireless, can have RGB turned on and off, has 6 additional macro keys on the left, and most importantly can be completely reprogrammed as I see fit. This is huge deal for me, because it means I can take advantage of all the keys that I never use, and utilize them as macro keys for the softwares I use often, such as Rhino or perhaps photoshop. I get this review is centered around a gamers POV, but I thought I would comment in case there is someone else like me watching this, with the intent of using it for production perposes.

After nine months, how's it been? I'm also looking for a wireless keyboard around this one's price range, and this is the closest to what I want that I can find. For making music, I'd need a full-sized one and I'd prefer mechanical but that might not be a dealbreaker.
@ezekielflores2149 Жыл бұрын
@Paul J. Morton Given that I don't use it for gaming, it's still near perfect for me as far as I'm concerned. As I said in the review, I planned to make use of all the keys on the keyboard that I don't usually use, which is exactly what I've done. I use all the macro keys, along with keys like the page up and insert keys to do specific tasks in my software. I like nice feeling keys from a good mechanical keyboard as well, but It's not that noticeable for me at this point, and it's "fake" mechanical keys are good enough for my use case. For your reference, I have been using this keyboard daily for probably 8+ hours in production software and general pc use. One other keyboard that looks to work better than this one for what I would want is the Rog claymore 2, though it's is several times more than this one. It has true mechanical keys as well, for reference.

@@ezekielflores2149 Thanks for the reply. This sounds pretty good then. I personally play games as well, but I already have a great wired mini keyboard for that. When I build my new PC in June after almost 20 years console gaming, I needed to pick a Keyboard as well. I choose the K57 for the following reasons. As I work from home and had limited space this Keyboard combined both worlds. I have the USB cable connected to my PC and the Wireles in my work Lap-Top, as I have my PC on during work (Netflix/YT..etc), there is no space for two Keyboards. Also I don't like the noise of the Mechanical keyboards (reminds me of the earlie 90's Compaq or Dell Keyboards), I was looking for a kind of hybrid with exchanging Key's if needed. This Keyboard fits my needs perfectly and I love it, I paid €95, which is roughly $110.

The thing i dislike most about the K57 is not even the rubberdomes or the build quality, it's actually those macro keys. Macro keys on the left side of the keyboard annoys me so badly, gotta get used to that again. Overall, i actually like the K57 so far, i just wish it didn't have the damn macro keys and i would gladly pay an extra 20€ for it to be mechanical. Here, it's 66% more expensive than the K55, not sure if that can really be considered good value, but my only requirements for a new keyboard was wireless + backlit keys and for that, it is quite nice. I think most people are overlooking the true reason why this keyboard is not mechanical. Part of what makes this keyboard perform well wirelessly is the high efficiency of Corsair's Capellix LEDs, which are proprietary technology owned by Corsair. In their other keyboards with Cherry switches, the RGB LEDs are part of the switch itself, not something that Corsair adds to the switch. Basically, unless Corsair designs their own switches from the ground up, there are no mechanical switches that incorporate the high-efficiency Capellix LEDs necessary to increase the battery life in a wireless product. With the rubber dome switches, this is not a problem as the LEDs can simply be placed under the switch and will still shine through. It is possible that we will be seeing Corsair come out with their own line of switches soon to combat this problem (similar to Razer's proprietary switches), but for now, this is a good compromise to get a per-key addressable wireless keyboard onto the market. The $100 price tag is justified since there is really no competition in this area yet. Most existing RGB wireless keyboards are not per-key addressable and certainly cannot match the battery life of this product. I understand that most of the people who watch videos on this channel prefer mechanical keyboards, but it's fairly clear that the K57 also has its unique spot in the market, and is a decent keyboard, even considering the asking price.

I'm glad I saw this, I was about to buy a Logitech G915 but I was looking around because I have no experience with Logitech switches, my first mechanicals were Gahlil (sp) Brown in an Anne Pro 2, I don't dislike those but wanted to try Cherry MX either Red or White, I hear good things about both of those which is why I'm shopping around even though the Logitech is $60 off because they lost the Lightning USB receiver, which doesn't really matter to me as I would be using Bluetooth. I'm just a bit iffy because I've owned about 6 Logitech mouses (I hate saying mice for computer equipment, I've always said mouses to differentiate between animals and electronics. lol) but through the 2 MX Masters, the MX Master 2, the 2 Master MX 2s's and now I'm on a MX Master 3 I've seen a noticeable trend of them losing their left click life considerably over the years so have little faith in the durability of their keyboard switches, I know they're not close to the same things but still, I just feel Logitech getting cheaper all the time. I used to swear by Logitechs after leaving the MS Intellimouse pros buttons getting to low to the table, I do miss them, they were my first wireless mouses after using the wired Intellimouse with a ball until cleaning it did no more good, I used it to death, Unreal Tournament (The original) was hard on a mouse and by UT2004 I had my first Logitech MX Master, (I think it was that, Logitech anyway, first laser over plain optical, or vice versa. I'm old gimme a break, but long story short (I know, too late) I question Logitech's quality nowadays.

I bought this keyboard and have since replaced it with something else. The wireless kept disconnecting on me and it feels very cheap. I’d suggest getting it on sale or looking elsewhere

I've tried mechanical keyboards and they don't exactly do it for me because of the noise they produce I am perfectly fine with membrane keyboards but I do still want a wireless keyboard however sadly there aren't any good wireless membrane keyboards since the one reviewed in this video uses an obsolete form of bluetooth and charges with micro USB but I really hope that the market for membrane gaming keyboards doesn't die and stays in existence and I really hope that eventually companies make better wireless membrane keyboards for the people who still prefer the classic system for keyboards

Good but the paint on the keyboard keys wears off very quickly. The one i have after 7 months the paint of the W-S-D-A and the space bar and the shift are gone. And i keep it verry clean... Its good if you dont do gamming.

People are complaining about the fact that it is a rubber dome keyboard for $100 BUT they fail to realise that big companies such as Corsair, Logitech and Razer have WIRED mechanical keyboards for around $100 and they usually come with NO RGB or only a single colour backlight or are either 60% or tenkeyless I mean Corsair's CHEAPEST RGB mechanical keyboard which is basically just a wired mechanical version of this keyboard without the macro's and is $120 on their site and their cheapest overall mechanical keyboard is a tenkeyless wired version of this keyboard for $80 BUT has no RGB ALSO Logitech and Razer sell Wireless Mechanical keyboards BUT they sell them for $250
@zahidshabir40385 жыл бұрын
also at least it improved on the K55 one thing i truly hated about that keyboard was the fact that it only had 3 RGB zones which was just cheap crappy way of saying we got RGB and multiple spots can be a different colour simultaneously whereas this one has per key RGB lighting AND ALSO I somewhat understand why this keyboard was not RGB it is because Corsair EXCLUSIVELY uses Cherry switches on their mechanical keyboards and they use the Capellix LED's to improve the battery life vs standard RGB lighting which uses too much power and big brands as far as I know big companies in the gaming keyboard market do NOT use Cherry RGB switches on a wireless keyboard also Corsair would need to work with Cherry to produce custom switches that can house Capeliix RGB lighting or something

I'm waiting for wireless to come to the k95, my favorite wired keyboard.
@Blaquegold5 жыл бұрын
That would be a direct competition for the g915 from Logitech. Just got that and is great! Price is steep but got mine for a good price. I would like to see what Corsair does with a wireless k95 though. It’s past due.
@johnbuscher71194 жыл бұрын
@@Blaquegold Especially if you really only need one dongle and that doesn't inhibit the use of multiple peripherals. I have a G915 TKL and a 603 now, and I saw that I'll need a receiver for each, which isn't a problem for me at the moment, but it is something that can be improved on later.

I got a question which switch is the quietest. red type or brown type
@KT37915A3 жыл бұрын
Red switches are quieter than brown, but they sure are easy to actuate comparatively. For me, red switches are for games, brown switches are more multi-use, and blue switches are for kids or adults who live alone. Hope this helps.

personally i use a cynosa razer K.B. and i'm pretty sure it's rubber dome. A the sound is amazingly quite and not fucking annoying like mechanical but also it works very well in gaming. i hate mechanical and to say that only 1% of the population wants non-mechanical is ridiculous i know a ton of people that think mech are too noisy.

I really dont think that the price is that bad, Yeah the old k55 is 50 bucks but its not wireless or has as much options when it comes to rgb. Ill be getting this keyboard because i want something wireless and individual key lighting. Unless a mechanical one from corsair gets slipstream soon and isnt close to 200 dollars.

I mean to compare Logitech wireless or wired K70 corsair with mechanical switches apart from look it made no difference for me (2016). Both got the job done I used them for. But yeah since ive built a living room gaming rig and have a kiddo yes quite rubber keyboard all day long :D Rather that than a keyboard with 4m cable

For being double the price of it's wired twin, it's not that much different. It's cool that it has single key RGB, but definitely could have made it mechanical. I own the K55 and paid $45 for it, so I love it for what it is, but would not upgrade to the K57.
