This keyboard is using cherry switches after all, so it might have chord split- actually, since it does have an 8k polling rate, it'll likely not have chord splitting. I honestly don't know how they implemented this high of a polling rate on a standard mechanical switch.

I just got the corsair k95 platinum xt with cherry mx blues in Jan and i've been happy thus far, I'm new to the mechanical keyboard community so I guess it hasn't really gotten old me yet. As a 60% keyboard, I'm happy 60% keyboards are now getting more populated in the market. The K65 seems to be a good buy-and-use kind of scenario, or even for the slightly enthusiastic that will put foam in the case and lube the switches+stabs. For me though, I would really like to see brands like Corsair, Razer, etc, to come in and bring us an aluminium case and/or backplate, some brass would be absolutely brilliant too.

@@tasmanbr3385 How? Mini has objectively better switches, more powerful software, an aluminum top plate, and better cable placement. It doesn’t have the same sound issues that the K65 does. It’s $120, but most people are willing to pay $10 more for a way better keyboard. It’s fine if you have Corsair products and are in the ecosystem, but it’s not fine to ignore actual specs and be blinded by brand loyalty.

I bought this keyboard for $75 and am waiting for it. I was surprised to see the negative impression on various channels, many people disappointed, but at the same time no one gives any objective information (except about superfluous things like the position of the cable in the back). It's all about "feelings" while I think the most important thing would be to show gaming performance, input lag, etc. By the way, if I am not mistaken this keyboard is in first place in the rtings latency test (0.1s), involving 173 analyzed keyboards, so at least the relevant objective information seems to me to be extremely favorable to the keyboard.

I've owned a Ducky One 2 mini, a razer huntsman mini, and now a k65 mini, and I've got to say, this Corsair k65 keyboard really is a pretty good keyboard for the price. While my Ducky and Razer keyboards were tactile (brown and purple switches) and my k65 is a linear (silver speed), I can't really compare the switches quality since they are all different kinds, however, the build quality of this keyboard overall is very, very good, and is very similar to the quality of a Ducky keyboard, if not better. While the razer huntsman keyboard has more of a cheap feel to it being lightweight and feeling like mostly plastic, the switches however, felt very fast (faster than my Ducky with MX brown switches). Because this corsair k65 is my first linear keyboard, I don't have any linear keyboards to compare it to, but I can say that the switches do feel very good and premium. If you're looking to get a 60% keyboard for gaming I would highly recommend getting this one or building a custom one.

I agree with pretty much everything you said. Starting with the name, it should've been at least a 65% (I think 75% should become the sought after small form factor). Pretty much everyone that held off on buying the K100 was wanting it in TKL, so they should've just done that honestly. They definitely should move their cables over to the left. I thought for sure that they would have gone for a metal case since every keyboard they've made up to this point is always praised for having a metal body. Overall, I think they should stick to full size and TKL. Not that this was so terrible that they should just give up, but their customer base loves those 2 form factors and that tank-like build quality. I think this was someone in the marketing team pointing at Razer and HyperX wanting to jump on the bandwagon. If there was a hype train I want to see them board, it's lightweight mice. I'd love to see that Corsair quality built into an ultralight mouse.

The reason the cable is not perfectly centered is because you are supposed to offset the keyboard slightly to the left so that the cable is centered to your setup then you will have more space for your mouse on your right

It won't. You're either on beat or you're not. And from a mechanics perspective, i think the key switch and your fingers ability to actuate at the right time means more than how often the keyboard interfaces with the USB.

@@envysmith6832 Not true at all. Polling rate 100% matters on rhythm games where an 8ms delay could mean the difference between a perfect score and a low accuracy hit, or a low accuracy hit and a miss. You'd be artificially trying to hit the beat earlier than it actually is.

Disagree on the 8k polling rate doesnt matter :/ Love your channel tho :) I was looking for a higher polling rate keyboard to reduce latency and quicker space bar smash to do a bunny hop in COD. Its easier to bunnyhop on controller because you change directions with a joystick and have a paddle on the back to spam jump. But, on a keyboard i loose momentum of the jump if the click isn't timed right. Hopefully, i explained that well. But after all the time I have put into this game, i can tell that my RK71 isnt keeping up. Getting myself razer viper 8k and a new 8k keyboard for my birthday 😀 Agree that corsair should have used faster switches 🙄

Cherry Reds are so outdated on a keyboard these days and for me at least all Corsair needs to do is offer the keyboard with optical switches and put foam inside it and as for the lube on the spacebar key I think it could have been a mistake since they did have lube on other switches. I am not really a small form factor keyboard guy since I like using the numpad but I think even with these issues so many people will buy them since they are iCUE compatible and iCUE is is pretty good for RGB and macros and Corsair sells at least one of each type of pretty much every common RGB component or peripheral that makes sense to be RGB which for me is why my whole setup is pretty much almost just Corsair stuff because they have one of the best RGB and macro softwares and have such a wide variety of products supported in the software and even support the RGB on MSI MOBO's and ASUS MOBO's and GPU's with iCUE and I have an ASUS MOBO and GPU Also whilst I do mostly agree with Hardware Canucks and RandomFrankP I think BrainBean's review was way way too harsh and too bad and I think it's because he doesn't like linear switches because he said he wanted clicky/tactile switches and most major gaming peripheral companies have been moving away from tactile and clicky switches and so have consumers. My personal favourite keyboard from Corsair would be a K100 if they integrated the Corsair Nexus in to the top middle where their logo is and removed the iCUE logo on the customisable dial in the top left with their OP-X switches which I have yet to try since I still use a K70 RGB Rapidfire with Cherry MX Speeds from 2016 and am looking to replacing it with a new keyboard that prefferebly supports iCUE and has dedicated macros and is full size and has linear optical switches

Very well put. As I was listening to the typing, I was thinking "That spacebar needs some love, but the rest of the stabilizer keys seem to sound ok." and "there's a hollow-ness to this sound, and some pinging". Then you went and pointed out all of those. Adding foam is something I do to all my keyboards and tends to help greatly to give them a more muted and satisfying sound. Seems like in this case, it helped, but the keyboard is what it is; lower materials than in other designs from the same company, and they're just pushing their PBT caps. I'm curious if something like the KinesisGaming TKO would at least provide with more for the 60% club...I think I'll try that one next; this one was a bit of a disappointment.

5:15 absolutely smooth brained logic. this keyboard is faster than the wooting 60he according to rtings which means the debounce delay is far lower than he thinks and if the switches feel scratchy just apply grease lol

I too enjoy having the arrow cluster mapped to UHJK and needing to awkwardly stretch my pinky to the bottom right Fn key! Almost like IJKL might have been an infinitely and more widely accepted decision!

Corsair is like blockbuster, whereas other companies are like netflix. Corsair is stuck in the past with cherry switches and heavy clunky mice, and other companies are expanding their horizons by using kailh, gateron, even their own switches which are far superior
