@@saracover8645 Teachers need the same protections we had as paramedics. We went hands on all the time to restrain an out of control kid and if necessary administer medication with medical direction. Teachers need to be able to protect themselves and the students no matter what the status of the kid is. If the special needs is that out of control, they shouldn't be in school that day or at all if it's happening all the time.

What parent? I'm being rhetorical of course but we know where the problem is: lack of parenting and discipline early in life. And some kids are just too dangerous to be in regular schools...school staff are deathly afraid of discipline students either, as lawsuit happy parents suddenly start caring when a money grab is up.

Too many women are overworked and forced to believe they have to be everything in one including a security personnel when they’re just a teacher or principal. This is not Ok!! This is why as a female I stay out of dangerous situations. One of the Staff should’ve called the police! Read the room! We can’t be the hero in every situation. Either stay safe or get hurt. The real issue is that children who would have been institutionalized back in the day are now mainstreamed in general education settings. This includes students who demonstrate extremely violent behaviors, that of which is addressed with and IEP and a BIP, sometimes successfully, and unfortunately, sometimes not. It's not always the fault of the home; there are some kids who just are wired wrong.
