Thank you for the comparison! Nice work! I think the reason, why the people hear better sound of cort, is the distortion of recorder. The yamaha has louder sound, therefore the recorder overdrived, and distort its sound. I've heard another rewiev from FG830, it sounds cool too. Belevie in Yamaha! They manufacture, and develope acoustic guitars from decades...and still sounds great!!!

I never bought an expensive acoustic guitar. I usually just go with the cheaper ones but when I borrowed a Yamaha from a friend I was amazed how it sounded but when I borrowed a Cort I was blown away how it sounded better than the Yamaha. Trust me, what you hear in this video is exactly what you hear in person.

53 years playing..owning nice guitars ..struggling to keep the necks right, the action good, worrying over humidity/temps..balancing the cost vs the worry about its safety and the investment of money and concern. THEN I bought a carbon fiber ! Tone quality is as high as the yamaha 830 ( got both) and its WELL within a high quality range but this axe has a faster tone delivery response..( best way i can put it)..gives me WAY more room to improvise w strumming/hammering/pulling...its given me more ability to perform and creste more elaborate and energetic riffs. When i pick it up at 6 am to start work its in almost perfect tune so if youre really working on a song this axe rules..The Enya x4 pro comes in well under $700 now .

I like the sound of the Cort better. It's "sweeter" and "smoother", less metallic. But I found it funny that most people think the Yamaha sounds better. I think it's mostly a matter of taste than technical superiority.

Hi, thanks for watching my video, the Cort guitar is a little more aggressive than the Yamaha guitar, but basically they look alike, they are two guitars with the same woods, the Yamaha guitar has the slightly shallower body than the Cort guitar and the shape of the case is a little different, however they are two guitars with an excellent quality / price ratio. Great guitars both, but in this particular case the Cort impressed me more than The FG 830. Even I'm a big fan of Yamaha guitars I have to admit that here the Cort is the winner for my ears.

I think I like the Cort sounds better and definitely like the look better. I have never owned either brand so I only know what I hear here online. I have owned some top notch guitars over my many years of playing. Gibson hummingbird,Guild d40, Taylor, and a very expensive hand made takamine, a BlueRidge BR180.If you play well "which You do" then just about any guitar will sound great. I own an Epiphone Fountier Masterbuilt at present.

I played my FG830 constantly at first. It was my first guitar, played it for almost 1 year but then. I bought a Martin D16E. I can't bear to play the Yamaha. I am older and playing still hurts my hands (even after 2 years.) I need an easy playing guitar. I had action work done on the Yamaha (3 times.) Sure it can be made easier to fret but never come close to that Martin sound. I have 2x FGX5 on order (summer delivery.) These Recording King Series 11's (good first guitar choice) are sounding way cool for the money. There must be thousands that started on a Yamaha.

@@31leoceara Hi. Now I have a Yamaha FGX5 (and the Martin) They cost almost exactly the same. I play them against each other daily. I can't say which one is better. Better electronics with the Yamaha. The narrower body of the D16 is more comfortable. Better looking tuners on the Martin, better wood appearance on the Yamaha. My Martin has a huge "bear claw' on the top,very visible. I just can't say which one sounds better. I can play the Martin better as I have played it right at 800-1000 hrs in a year (4 string changes. Soon I restring the Yamaha from factory selected strings to the same 80/20 phosphor/bronze I am using on the Martin. Then we see. I traded in the FG830, it served its purpose well. Better guitar has made me a better player but the next upgrade won't. Diminishing returns.

Comparing the price tag - Cort wins. Sound is for Yamaha all the way - rich, spanned, clearer. I like you playing style - it is so lively. After this video I start thinking good on Cort guitars. Unfortunately, I don't find difference in Elixir string and standard one on fg830 I own.

I have had a used Cort Earth 70 for a couple of years in very good and recently obtained a Yamaha fg830 in pristine condition that is 2 years old. Both are excellent guitars that suffer poor setup. Both had plastic saddles that wobble in the bridge slot. The Yamaha had a plastic nut that fell out when I removed the strings. It had never been glued in position. The bridge pins were way too tight in the Yamaha so the bridge needed to be reamed. The saddle and nut on both guitars have been replaced with Graph Tech so the fit properly and the action at the 12th fret is 0.090" or less. I have been able to do these upgrades myself. Now they are both competent gig-worthy guitars. The Yamaha is available new on the retail market but I have only seen Cort guitars ocassionally available in the resale market. I obtained my Cort for $70 Can and the Yamaha for $380, both locally on FB market place. I'm not sure what the difference is between the Cort 100 and Cort 70. I don't feel the need to upgrade to Yamaha fg5 but I'm sure it would be nice.

Been checking out the Corts for a while in comparison vids against Taylor, Yamaha, furst and so far Cort has delivered more mid range tones ..not just a booming low E and over bright B and high E strings but a stronger A,D,G presence and thats important for recording your work..

Sounds like brand new strings that aren't stretched yet. Not quite in tune. You can balance tune those guitars, when the strings get stretched. They both sound very good, and I like your playing too. Thanks for the video!

I think its some sort of cheap rosewood, the same sort of trees, but every rosewood no matter Pau Ferro or Indian is rare, because its classic and every musicians needs to have own copy of Martin D-28. However, if that model would not be in stock, I bought Cort Earth 100 in the natural satin, cause I love a natural matte finish. Keep it Up!

Actually, both sounds very pretty. Personally I would not really choose the Cort since Yamaha actually produces higher quality guitars in the same price range. For me I could hear that “traditional” Cort sound which makes me feel bored... And meanwhile Yamaha has nicer dynamic. Cort is the biggest guitar producer but doesn’t mean they produces the best guitars. Me: Former Cort owner current owning Yamaha FG830... XD

I know we aren't supposed to be judgemental. But the 830 gets the nod from me!!! This is why I chose the 830 over the Cort. The 830 just a teenie bit sweeter'n the FG800 I owned. I Used the 800 to trade up to a Martin .

Hi Arthur, yes the Yamaha sounds hotter than Cort, but Cort is more powerful, the Martin guitars are of another level, I own two Martin guitars, D-45 and D-42, I also had J-40 and HJ- 38 but it is a comparison that it would not make sense to do it with Cort or Yamaha. Per la tua domanda, ti rispondo che certamente la Cort è paragonabile, anzi è anche superiore, sia come set up, costruzione e rifiniture, per quello che riguarda il suono è solo questione di gusti. Come puoi sentire anche dal video, la Cort ha più potenza di suono, ed è equalizzata più verso frequenze medio alte, mentre la Yamaha è un po meno aggessiva sulle medio alte, ed ha un suono un po più rotondo e caldo, comunque è solo questione di gusti, sono due ottime chitarre in rapporto al prezzo. La Yamaha ha un costo leggermente superiore, il prezzo di tre anni fa, era di 340€ per la Yamaha, e 309€ per cort. Un punto a favore della Yamaha è che il modello FG, è un modello storico, con più di cinquant'anni di produzione alle spalle, (anche se negli anni ha subito piccole modifiche, ma lo shape è rimasto tale quale) mentre i modelli Cort sono molto molto più recenti. IMO Cort has deeper body hence the bigger sound and also the elixirs on the yamaha are tinny. If you listen to the first fingerstyle comparison you can tell that the yamaha rings like a bell and has way better resonance. I sold my cort then got a sigma, sold the sigma to get a martin djr. I bought a yamaha jr2 for my daughter and I enjoy playing the jr2 compared to the martin. For the price of yamaha, I wasn’t expecting to like the sound of it. Don’t get me wrong the martin djr sounds great compared to the yamaha jr2 of course but I just don’t think it’s worth the price so I sold it and I’m buying the fg30 instead. Also it’s worth noting that the martin djr is very uncomfortable for me to play, maybe it’s the 1-3/4 nut width but I don’t know. After all, what’s the point of having a Martin if I don’t enjoy playing it.

It is so strange, all around the world FG800 costs 199$ and Earth 100 RW costs far more, but we have opposite situation, FG800 is more expensive and FG830 is waaaaay beyond of my budget. And because of that people around tell about that you MUST choose FG because of the Yamaha's magic sound and Cort's boxy sound, but I suspect that it is only a matter of name of brand, each guitar has a unique sound I guess, not worse or better, and it's definitely impossible to hear the real sound from tiny speakers of laptop. Objective plus of Earth 100 RW is better materials and comfort strings' action and it also has a rosewood, which is rare nowadays. The only thing that I worry about Cort is buzzing on higher frets - have you heard it while playing? Sorry for a lot of text.
