Eric, I really appreciate how often you say things like, "It doesn't matter." It's so easy, especially with patterns, to get into the mindset that we have to stick the specific formula provided. However, you are always reminding us that there is SO MUCH room to customize or just wing it. You're a true artist, and it shows. Cheers!

Thank you for this. I’ve been away from leatherwork for two years ( health) This is a project I can go back into my workshop to do - and complete. Huge thanks xx

Simple but elegant design. Really enjoy these bags. Like your laced `hippy`bags, so much fun to make them. Thank you.

I found that using a shoe hammer to hammer down on leather is much more convenient with my luck. The edges are all rounded so it doesn't dent or damage the leather you are hammering next to (Which, with my luck, happened a bunch of times) 🙂

Thank you for making easily accessible content! I’m currently making a custom leather wallet for my dad’s retirement using your videos as a guide. Here’s hoping I don’t mess it up! 🤞

With some weathering and distressing this would make a good cosplay bag. Maybe a different type of clasp. Good stuff‼️

I enjoy your videos. I've been doing leatherwork since I was 14 years old in Oceanside high school when Tandy sponsored a summer school leather class, I'm now 65. I made my own molds, not easy. I don't like how you bypassed the difficulty in pressing the leather around the mold which is what most people have a problem doing. I've made hundreds of these bags. I have a you tube channel, not in leather work. I know that creating a relationship with your videos and getting the algorythims is important, but please, be realistic when it comes to making these. It's not an hour. Leodis Leather has fantastic videos on these. I could do them on kinesmaster but no reason. Perhaps other videos on what issues someone might find in making these bags. Not everyone is as tanlented as you. Thanks again.

With these style molds you don't need to manually mold the bag body, you just use the frame and clamps to do that and it's very easy - maybe 10 minutes the night before :) I do have videos on making one piece molds and molding by hand too, that's also an option if you'd like

Can you advise what kind of the cushion under the leather when you are punching holes? As I always cannot penetrate the leather. Can you advise whether it is any problems with my punch hole tool or the pad I am using. I am using plastic bag. Thank you.

Hey they! Search for a leather working punch board or punch mat. There are various kinds that are pretty affordable! I was using stacked cardboard for a long time 😂

Would this size make a good belt bag? Add belt strap or straps to the back to hang on a belt.
@Corter2 ай бұрын
The smaller size would be pretty large for a belt bag but possible if you need to carry a lot of stuff, it'd be more like a waist pack

Just before the 4 minute, you speak of cut down and scoring the bag. I don't understand why you would do that & I don't see this anywhere later in the video. Also, did you show how yo mark for the magnetic clasp location or is that in another video?
@Corter2 ай бұрын
Do you mean cutting the top off the bag using the dividers? That's done so it can be a bag, otherwise there would be no inside :) I do not show marking for the clasp because you can use dozens of different closure types and it's all dependent on the thickness of leather you use - it'll change with those things so there's no universal way to do it
@mariagoetz53912 ай бұрын
Ah yes, I missed that one quick moment before you went on to cut the flap! Sorry, thank you! Of course, each clasp different.

You make nice stuff Eric. I'm just surprised that it looks like everything you make is practically plain veg tan. I would think the demand for products that have color would be much higher, but I guess not.
