Congrats on the new car! I just bought a '77 Corvette a few months ago, too. It's definitely a cool throw-back and the view from that low seat over the long hood is priceless. Mine is all original, bright orange and has the 4-speed manual transmission. What exhaust does yours have? Mine still has the original catalytic converter and mufflers and is really quiet. I want a bit more of that rumble! Enjoy!

I have an '82 Corvette, the two tone blue/gray with blue interior, and it's easily the best looking car I've ever owned - and I've owned a lot of cool cars (if not quite as many as this guy). Wherever you go people are always stopping you, always commenting. The car isn't by any means fast - the '82 is also the first year of the Crossfire engine and I'm not a fan of it as it will just, all by itself, go out of tune. But as a cruising car, it's amazing, get on the interstate and do around 75mph and the car is super smooth, super stable and very comfortable. Just don't get in a drag race as it's 95% show, and 5% go - it's not super slow or anything, but with age and such I'd guess the 0-60 is well into the 8-sec range - although in the car it feels faster as you're low to the ground and you get some really good sound. Overall I love the car - but I don't get how the value on these things has not taken off. Everything else from that era, and I mean everything, has skyrocketed in value over the past few years.

Nice score and everything that is flawed worn or doesn’t work is all fixable or replaceable. I have a ‘68 C3 and I’m so in love with her, all original and numbers matching and she’s almost done with her first full tuneup, brake rebuild, vacuum hoses and exhaust. She sat in a garage for just over a decade and I’m giving her the love she deserves. Next is some minor interior work and she’s done.

A '77 is one of the sexiest of all Corvettes but it is probably the most unique of the C3s because it has so many parts that are one year only. I don't remember which ones in particular but there are a number.

Very cool example of a late 70s vette! Make sure to find the lower air dam for the front if there’s a spot for one since that’s how air actually gets into the tilted radiator. Very cool c3 and welcome to the club!

Very cool... thanks for sharing! I have a 1976 L-82 4-speed that I bought from a relative. I had to do a lot of work to it, but still not done. Rebuilt the floor boards and put in new carpets, etc. because there was water standing in it for a long time. Rebuilt the carb., the tail piece and nose. It has true dual exhaust with no cats, old Holly double pumper on an Edelbrock manifold. The car has 3:70 rear gears which makes it terrible for the highway, but fun around town. I'd love to put in a 5 or 6 speed Tremec trans. some day.

These are great, and peculiar cars. The style always turns heads. They're sporty enough to be fun to drive, and T-tops are just awesome. I have a '72 and I love to see different years in different colors. I haven't seen this color before, and I don't think I've ever seen a 68-77 with rear defrost. I like to see cars that are time capsules. The more out of fashion the better. a 76 in metallic brown, 73 in Elkhart Green, 2 tone 80's cars.

Thank you for posting a vehicle that allows for transparency . Buying a used vehicle is always a gamble and buying a classic/vintage vehicle is even more so. But here is the reality...Desireable classic cars will always sell regardless of blown engine or missing tranny. Buyers just need to know EXACTLY what is wrong with the car. The problem always in dealing with cars in the 'unknown'...but instead of hiding defects to make a sell ...try being honest and make a sell. Some people are in a position to replace the entire drive train and some are not. Point is for anyone selling a car private or dealer JUST BE UPFRONT about everything that you know about the vehicle you are selling and leave it there. Someone will buy it and then you'll also have made a friend because they know exactly what they are getting in to. From there you won't be receiving nasty phone calls or emails you'll get friendly updates on how they are rebuilding the vehicle. Blessings to all...Honesty just work best guys. Thanks again for your detailed video.

Your C3 has been repainted, the factory dark blue is similar but a half shade darker. Something odd I noticed immediately were the side mirrors. The side mirrors changed to a sport mirror matching the car color in 1977. The chrome side mirrors were changed for 1977. I used to own a 1977 Corvette in the factory Dark Blue exterior and dark blue/white leather interior. The car came standard with an alarm system that was activated by the drivers side key hole but it never worked right. I've always thought that 1977 model was the sexiest looking of all the models, it was the last year the stingray with that bodyline was made. The next year, 1978 the model changed. They went with a fastback rear window, which I thought resembled an aquarium but it was selected for the Indianapolis Race as the Pace car with a special black/silver paint job.

Unique to 77 is the horn button. Stainless steel I believe.
@nefaurora5 жыл бұрын
Actually, The Stainless Steel Horn Button was only 'til Mid 1977 Production...It was later Deleted by GM in Mid 1977. Later '77 Vettes had their Horn buttons painted interior color due to complaints back to GM from customers that the Stainless Horn Buttons were causing huge glare issues for drivers! I had a Late '77 with the "Painted" Horn Button. It was the same Horn Button, just painted....but always wondered if it was Stainless Steel still underneath the paint or if GM just went with a "Cast" piece for the Painted ones. I knew other guys with other '77 Vettes that also had the "Painted" Horn buttons... :0) Tony K.

There are a few C3 buying guides on the internet as well as a few videos here on YT. The big things to look out for are rust in the "bird cage" and frame. From the factory the later ones are total smogged out dogs but they are chevy engines so the possibilities are endless if you want to go fast. I have a bone stock 180HP L48 vette. Its S-L-O-W but still a very fun car to drive.

But then you fire it up and start driving, and, um… Then I realize my dream car, my futuristic spaceship, probably sounds, feels, smells and drives more like an old tractor. And then I think, maybe I'd be better off just saving my pennies for my next Tesla.

The C3 is one of those cars that is special, in the same way my 1987 Citroen CX Wagon, Lotus Europa, and Porsche 911 SC Targa is also special. Great cars offer something unique for the driver, be it luxury like the Rolls Royce Wraith I recently tested, or in the case of the C3 Corvette, a light weight fiberglass automotive topeless sculpture with lots of brute power (for 1977) and a truly unique driving experience. The Tesla is also that sort of car for the different feelings it inspires in its driver! Check out my Tesla review elsewhere on KZbin. Thanks for watching and commenting! damianjones_art OK, so it may be too late having just found this post. Here’s the scoop,feel free to check my facts. 1. They don’t have a stingray in 1980, that ended in 1976. 2. 1980 vettes are considered one if not the least desirable years. They had a union strike at the assembly plant,so the cars were put together by people with no prior skills. It horribly affects the resale value to Corvette enthusiasts. Also look it up you will find an old Car & Driver article where it was voted worst car of the year in its class. Please don’t get me wrong I am a manor Vette lover. Just that some models are better than others. For instance some people dog the 1975 because it was the lowest horse power model since the early 1950,s . But so what that’s an easy fix, It was also the last year for a convertible for a long time. I would own a 75 in a heartbeat.
