@Iexpedite15 жыл бұрын
Not J The only thing worse than the opti you took out is the one you just put in. You can’t trust an opti that isn’t equipped with a Mitsubishi opti sensor. All others are garbage that will fail in short order. Even high priced units from MSD are suspect. Mitsubishi stopped making sensors years ago. There is a guy on EBay called the opti doctor that rebuilds opti's with Mitsubishi sensors. They are pricey but you can trust them to last more than 6 months. Also while you were in there a water pump swap is a smart move. When the pump goes it often takes the opti with it. Coolant is the death of many opti sparks. Later opti's are vented which extends their life. You can, and should retrofit older opti’s with a vent.

@@TrakSpock1 Good brand new AC Delco optisparks work good. But you can't find those easily anymore. They're all reman and will go out in a couple months unless you go MSD which are $500. Those early obd1 lt1s will kick your ass, I have a 93 6speed, rebuilt with a hotcam, the opti spark plugs/wires/coil/icm should all just be replaced right away then you can put it behind you and will most likely fix the miss. You can also get modernized Bosch 3 injectors for it for cheap. All the parts can be had for so cheap just replace it all till the miss or problem goes away. Fuel pressure regulators can leak, make sure your intake gaskets and vacuum lines aren't leaking. Replace the 02 sensors too. All the parts I mentioned if aftermarket total less than 400 bucks for all new stuff. Rock auto is a c4 owner's friend.

Wish I caught you before you put it back together. The pre 1995 Optisparks were not vented and had some issues. The '95, and '96 Corvette Optisparks were very reliable. The one thing you should do with all of them, if you pull off the water pump, tap the bleed hole in the bottom of the water pump casting, install a simple brass fitting with a piece of vacuum tube on it and direct it away from the Opti-Spark so if the diaphram on the water pump blows out, it won't spray coolant all over your Opti and short it out. You should hang on to that Opti you removed. It's probably still good, and you know it's already been replaced at least once. I bet if you put some wires and plugs on that LT-1 it'll run like a champ. You guys are characters. Good videos. Take care.

So what you guys have is an LT1, which is a 92-95/96, and the opti runs directly off the camshaft. Unfortunately the opti you guys put in isn't known for reliability (it's chinesium) but it should get you going, just for God's sake put on new plug wires... Before you blow another $3-500 on optis you should look at the 24x LT1 conversions for running LS coils. The '86 in your yard has an L98, which is just an EFI Gen 1 sbc. I'm really digging the videos on the C4, make sure you bring it by the burnyard bash in July if you can, I'll bring mine.

When the optispark went out in mine, the car just stopped running. No misfire or anything else to give a warning. The design flaw has it right under the water pump. If the water pump leaks it can wreck the opti. The optispark is only in the 1992 to 1996 LT1 Vettes. I believe that they improved its design on the '95 and '96 models.

heat isnt removed from cab, air is either taken from outside (usually under windshield cowl) or recirculated within the cab which is also considered max A/C. heat is removed at condenser to change refrigerant state from high pressure gas to high pressure liquid and at evaporator core to change refrigerant state from low pressure liquid to low pressure gas, thats only place A/C system is removing heat. In the cab the blower motor blows air through a freezing cold evaporator always, when heater is on it blows through evaporator still to dry the air Then through the heater core but there is always cold (dried) air being blown in inside temperature is just adjusted with the temperature blend door within the case. on max A/C the car is recirculating air INSIDE the cab not taking any air out or removing heat just cooling cold inside air
