I used brake lube as well. worked great. I was starting to have issues going into reverse and sometimes 1st would pop out. Since I adjusted the shifter, all is running smooth again!!

First off Froggy, thank you very much for your "how to" videos. You've been a great source for me more than once as I wrench on my 2001 z/06. I needed a shifter adjustment after I had a new clutch and both master and slave cylinders were installed. I had the dreaded lack of clutch pedal return issue and a heavier spring wouldn't address the real problem which was the slave cylinder. Apparently the shop that did the replacement didn't understand the shifter was not right so I just fixed it myself. I ran into the same issue several others have with the pin not properly dropping. I took the shifter out which allowed me to totally remove the pin. Once I did that, it was easy to align the shaft using a small screwdriver as a guide and the rubber butt of a screwdriver in the shifter socket.

Thanks for the updated video! I am doing this tomorrow and appreciate the info on pulling the pin back out. I was unsure. Awesome videos!

Welcome, not hard. Getting to it is a little more work than the adjustment, I think I have another video on this if you need more. :)

Cam lube(moly grease) is also a great lube for the shifter ball socket. A vendor on Ebay is selling new socket balls for $20 bucks. As of 4/20/2020

I think you forgot to mention that the shifter must be in neutral unless I missed it.

Would this apply to an aftermarket shifter like the hurst short shifter ? Also I don’t have that pin since the shifter is aftermarket would I be able to order that from GM?

Sorry I have no way to know how/if the Hurst shifter adjusts. Or if it uses a pin.

I just used an allen key in and that seemed to work just fine for me. (I know this is a 2yr old comment though lol)

Will that pin remove to clean without a problem? Mine is slightly rusted and will not drop down far enough after wire brushing and lubing it well. Thanks much!

It should, grab with vise grips & twits/push/pull/wiggle. :)

Thanks Froggy i have a similar issue in my 1985 Corvette with 4+3 Doug Nash box where the shifter needs to be twicked (laterally as i down shift from 3 to 2) lil in order to slide into gear. Does the Doug Nash allow shifter adjusting?
