@@1947froggy oh ok. The video being posted recently had me thinking this was recently also. Im 609 certified to be able to buy refrigerant in bulk at a cheaper price. 4yrs ago i remember buying 3 tanks at a time for around $90 each. A year later i went to buy 1 tank and was being charged for my usual 3 tanks. I said, no i just need 1 tank. They said, yeah thats for just 1 tank now. Took me about 20min to wrap my mind around it. Anyway. Thanks for the video. Keep on makin' em cold.

@@johnperez93640 You do know then, that a very small amount of leakage (at least in older systems) is designed in. In particular the compressor shaft seal leaks a little so the pag oil can lube the shaft. Topping off is a service item, like adding air to tires, air leaks out of tires too. Such is life. Thank you for posting, happy 4th!

I've been pretty lucky with my 2006 GMC Yukon. It still blows ice cold with the original charge at 145,000 miles. I always have the Auto A/C on so the compressor is always running - perhaps this keeps all the orings and seal pliable???? On the other hand, our 2006 Honda Accord with the auto a/c and also always running, I've had to add R134 A every 4 years or so. A win for GM!

@1947froggy20 күн бұрын
I did not use the dip tube, probably it's better with as it puts the cold refill water down away from where the hot exits, but yeah it'll still work. Maybe a bit less efficient. If you look hard you can find one (fitting) with dip tube included.

Thank Governor Gruesome for the uptick in crime. I but a bolt and nut through mine a long time ago. No thief is going to carry two set of pliers or the correct sockets.
I'm no mechanic so I always have work done by someone who is a certified mechanic but the guy I found to work on my c5 Corvette allows me to order the parts; the problem is I can't even do that right. My directionals are not working. I wonder if you could help. are you familiar with Rock Auto? I also have the check engine light on and got a code of po440 which everyone is saying could just be the fuel cap but I'm not even confident in getting the right replacement cap. I guess I am so skeptical because I have already ordered parts; brought them to to mechanic and was told they did not fit. The specific part in question was the heater display. Who ever owned the car before me did something to make it so that display is unreadable. Do you know that part number? Here are the other parts I need and this is the direct message from the mechanic: I got part numbers from corvette central. Seat track bushings #485078 Rear weather-strip #635047 Side panel weather strips #635007 Hazard switch #595006 You can get the weather strips and hazard switch from Rock Auto for half the price

Rock auto I have used, get oem or better parts. I can't specifically help with the details. If you trust the guy let him get the parts, just make a deal that he does not mark them up over cost, or just a reasonable amt say 20-25%
@spercoco24 күн бұрын
@@1947froggy Thank you. I am thinking there is a number I can call at Rock Auto with someone who can help .I think if the mechanic orders the parts he should get compensated for his time. He was actually laid off from a place he was working because he was not pushing to sell to customers parts they didn't need; there was like a 100% mark up there but he has no interest in making money off parts. It's just Iam more motivated to order what I need and get it done in a timely manner so I can use this car in the short months of good weather we have here.

Hopefully you kept the old boards. Mine, the light would go out and not work. A couple whacks on the side and the light would come on and work. The problem was the P1 connector had a bad solder on the signal board. And also a bad solder on the pin in the power supply board that feeds the signal board P1. Quick resolver and works perfect ever since.
