I'm 62 years old and don't get around much on the web, but it was very rewarding to find this. I grew up with Coltrane, Tyner, Davis, Monk, etc. These guys make me feel 18 again. Thanks. I am hooked and will be searching for more. My jazz collection needs updating and my current supply will be proud to have this trio sitting along side.

It almost looks like they were having a little game that was based on the idea of the fact that the one who made the funniest face won. The amazing thing with this theory is that they blew of one helluva jam whilst doing it! Observe: (The guy in the corner, in this case, the drummer, was infact not playing the game himself, but he was merely an inspector of the spectacle!)

Herbie is by far the greatest musician on the planet, by way of his accomplishments, (which are only rivaled and perhaps surpassed by Miles, in terms of the breadth and scope of all his innovations), but listening to Cory he can only cry. Cory does things in this solo Herbie never dreamed of. He has more facility and more in the tank than anyone. He was a master as a young child. You have to conceive what that means for a moment. He was playing around with all the random ways you can approach a chord and progression long before others picked up the instrument. He absolutely destroyed Chick in a little battle they had not that long ago. Made him look like a run of the mill chump, and it was EFFORTLESS, like he could have gone on forever. I don't think you are really aware of what you are witnessing. This is perhaps the most gifted musician of all time, with countless miles between him and the next one. God only knows what his actual limits are. I would say he has none.
