Google says radar was used on alot of ships in 1942. The living quarters sure were kinda small. Neat to see this,Thanks Cory.

That was a very cool video, Mel and I really like old historic places or objects. gets me thinking of them when they were first built and the first people that got to use them. I couldn't imagine being in such a cramped environment, being well over 6 feet tall id have to wear protective gear all the time.
@CoryMay81

Yeah! Same. I try to imagine what it was like to actually be on the ship when it was in operation. Lots of history on that shit. I'm 6 feet so I feel ya. We wouldn't survive in those bunk beds. hahaha Cheers for watching and commenting!

That's cool. I've been on one submarine only, but it wasn't in the water. It was on land as a museum feature at Pearl Harbor. I also like watching documentaries about life on board submarines. Thanks for watching!

Yeah, that's the retired U.S.S. Midway CV-41 that my dad was stationed on for 4 years. It's homeport used to be Yokosuka, Japan back in the 80's. I've been on that aircraft carrier tons of times. hehehe

Small world Cory,... I was aboard the LHA3 US Bellauewood too (sorry about the misspelling, never could get it right). Got my Sea Service Deployment Ribbon & saw the last performance of the Thanksgiving Special with none other than Bob Hope! Yeah, I'm dating myself. Late 80's, also went to Korea for the Olympics. It was a magical time before computers. Ha ha.

Interesting and entertaining video. What role did the Soya play at Midway?
@CoryMay81
@CoryMay81 3 ай бұрын
It was used in the Imperial Navy's minesweeper fleet. It also survived a torpedo attack. One of the two torpedos was caught and they brought it on board to celebrate that they didn't blow up. hehehe so crazy
