Jaws is one of the most iconic films of all time, but its production was an absolute mess. At the center of it all was a trio of animatronic sharks that caused an already struggling Steven Spielberg to fear for his job. That strife would lead to one of the biggest successes in special effects film history. Learn the full story here!
Thanks so much for watching today's Cosmavoid video. Have a specific film you'd like me to cover? Let me know in the comments below! Thanks again, stay tuned.
Today's outro song is "Brainwave" by Great Giant Gnome:

@@itspenguin7187 Cause it is true at least on the everyone part. I don't think modern times is horrible I do believe socially we are in a crisis.. Look at how films are seen in the last 5 years give or take. People don't care anymore about the movie other than to troll on it. Although I believe its more of a example of current society and not just simply everyone is messed up. For the most part a good portion of people are openly hostile doesn't matter if its good or bad. I believe it has more to do with the social issues now. PC idiots, trolls, Political hostility, gender or racial hostility they all contribute. Add to social media where you have people who literally made careers bashing films, people, actors or society and its just the new norm. This won't end until society stabilizes.

That scene wasn't prepared or anything, it just happened that they were filming when that happened and just kept it for the film

It really is incredible how well this movie turned out and all the little methods Spielberg used to show the shark without showing the Shark were fantastic. The use of music has never been better in any other film and then the use of the barrels in the second half of the movie is ingenious because Shaw's character constantly says that the Shark cannot submerge with 3 Barrels attached to him and yet he somehow does which just intensifies the fear.

So many interesting tidbits about filming, preproduction, postproduction, and audience and critical reception. I saw Jaws when it came out in theaters, and I just watched it again. First time in years. In addition to the restraint in shark use mentioned in this video, I think a lot of the film's power comes from the second half. This 'Clunky' mechanical contrivance is scarier than any CGI Shark/Sharknado (I love that film by the way). In exactly the same way that the Ray Harryhausen Stop-Motion Skeleton Army in Jason and the Argonauts are and will always be the scariest walking dead in cinema. There is something in our brains that knows that did actually happen, therefore it is real, therefore (if the acting is good) so is the story, consequently we are terrified and that is why when I fight skeletons I wear protection, and that ladies and gentleman is why I do what I do. BRAVO This is a fantastic video. Thank you 🏆
