This was the promo where I realized Jay was special. Briscoes were supposed to be the heels going into NYC against Haas and Benjamin but after (and probably because of) this promo, we cheered them wildly. It’s a shame he and Mark didn’t make millions. Rest in Peace, Jay.

I hope Tony Khan paid them like top superstars for their appearences in ROH last year. They sure deserved it. But I trust they will take care of their families from now on. I hope ROH Supercard Of Honor will be a show dedicated to Jay's memory. And I hope to see Mark in the ring again...even though it will never be the same.
@danielfreer8487 Жыл бұрын
the briscoes most certainly are millionaires lol. we've been out to their property back when they had to do some of the ROH shows in the polebarn in sandyfork because they couldn't get other venues in time. They are EXTREMELY well off. both in love and wealth. Hell of a family. Also, Let's not talk like mark also passed away, he will make millions more and if AEW and tony kahn do him right he can very easily become their top babyface for a couple of years atleast. They need to capitalize off of the situation as sad as it is, the people are loving mark right now and they can definitely play off of it. The thing that always made the briscoes special was the fact they were their own 2 seperate people with their own personalities. They were so good together, but also good apart, they both had singles runs in ROH before. Jay is a multi time world heavyweight champion and i believe mark got it atleast once.

Although this is an old video, the WWE dropped the ball when they didn't hire these guys. True talent in the ring and damn sure can cut a promo. I'd rather have two rough neck gods who know their shit and can deliver in and outside the ring than wrestlers who can't even do a damn drop kick but look like models in the WWE. That's why the WWE is such a joke now. I recently started watching ROH and thank goodness I did because I feel like I'm actually watching wrestling again, not some watered down mockery of wrestling that has become of the WWE.

The problem is, when someone like Jay posts on Twitter that he's gonna shoot people or makes homophobic comments, that creates a PR nightmare for WWE. They need to look at the risk/reward. I think a lot of these promotions should band together and create something new, to compete with WWE. When WCW and the then-WWF were in competition, it created some of the best wrestling I've seen. Once your competition dies, so do you.

You probably had more in common politically than you think. A working-class wrestler who worked hard to provide for his family, egalitarianism and equality might have appealed to him if only someone had been around to relay these to him within the narrow confines of the current political system. His homophobic remarks were a sign of cultural & educational deprivation. It would seem as though he made a sincere attempt to be better in later years.

J Tanashi probably wouldn't hold much water considering - while WWE is a publically traded company - Its still pretty much one mans say. WWE is basically run like any modeling agency would.... they pick who they want based on look & performance: how a model would walk & look; & WWE - how a performer could wrestle & look. WWE could simply pawn it off as "they're not what we're looking for" and technically, they'd be w/in their rights. but more to the point... the Briscoes are WWE worthy, & have been for a long time.
@matthewrago63779 жыл бұрын
J Tanashi truth be told, these guys sound like idiots. I understand that they are talented, but they speak like homeless African Americans. Also, the content of their speech is littered with ignorance. I wouldn't want them representing my company if I were Vinnie Mac
@jrock23109 жыл бұрын
Matthew Rago could be some truth as to why they're not w/ the company.... but they are cutting a promo here. this was at a time when ROH was okay w/ taking shots at WWE. they (WWE) were in the process of taking a handful of ROH's top guys. im sure this was just a produced rant against the WWE that ROH chose the Briscoe to cut a promo on their experience. as of now, WWE & ROH have sort of handshake agreement. they help each other out from time to time. I hear when one of ROH's guys contract comes up & WWE is interested, that WWE cuts ROH a nice check to keep ROH from blasting WWE on their program. that's why u don't hear much WWE talk on ROH these day like we did in the past. its more less a working environment today. less contentious. cut to 6:18 of the video... that's when u see them hyping the match. all the other stuff was just build up to the former WWE guys (haas & benjamin) vs. the indy fan favorites (briscoe brothers).
@jrock23109 жыл бұрын
J Tanashi for that very reason it wouldn't hold much water because WWE could say look at rowan & harper - we do hire guys like that.

the weird reality is... (and im not afraid to say this) they're actually good looking guys. they just happen to have tattoos & their preferred gimmick takes away from the ability to look their best. their slang adds to the perception that their just young, dumb, 'thug like' boys. hell, u could probably put them on a cover of any magazine if u cleaned them up a bit. the true positives are: they're in great shape. very charismatic... but their gimmick calls for them to dumb down, & not to look at those "cosmetic" things. they want u to focus on their work, their promos & their charisma.
