Raven BK girl go for it! I just made the switch from university to cosmetology and I start next month. I have not been so happy about life in a long time. If you want to do nails, there are schools that offer nail tech programs and can have you licensed and practicing by the end of the year! Also look up local classes on IG. Great nail artists travel and teach all the time and you’ll get up on game quick. We got this 👌🏽

Kallie Lopes follow your heart. I know I’m not anyone to you but I will give you my advice..... at the end of the day you have to do what makes you happy. If you are hard working, committed and passionate about what you do you will find success. I hope my daughters follow their heart and I am here to support them in their dreams. Parents and home is the soft place to fall and/or go to for help and advice. I have known lots of cosmetologists that are highly successful both in financial means and creativity. I hope this helps if not don’t listen to me lol I’m just a 38 year old momma who does hair because I love it!

You need to be happy with your career choice not them because you are the one who is going to be living that life. Take it from someone who listened to her dad until she was 29 and married and finally did what she wanted. I wasted so much time trying to make him happy I didn't know who I was as a person. Anyway, law enforcement and cosmetology are completely opposite. Law enforcement is about being tied to the law and being a little standoffish from the public. Cosmetology is about embracing the public and giving them great customer service.

I'm not completely sure but I'm in cosmetology school and my teacher has told us if you get your state cosmetology license then you can do what ever you want where it be nail technician, make up artist, hair stylist etc

Honestly I wanted to be a cosmologist when grew up but I heard it's very competitive and you can't make money unless you're really good. So I changed and I want to be a doctor or surgeon. It makes a lot of money even though I will have debts but I like helping people and seeing them smile. I'm happy you're cool with your career. You could be the best as a hairstylist. You are too young to not believe it, and that’s a really terrible mindset. Even if you want to be a surgeon, the amount of study you will have to do is crazy, but if you don’t take yourself serious and try to be the best at whatever you do, then the mediocre life will be your destination and that’s misery in, even as a super star.

I remember one time I got my hair straighten at a cosmo school the same one that I will actually be starting in February and I wanted my hair straightened my hair is VERY thick curly and voluminous. There where two girls on my head and they both honestly did not know what they where doing at all long story short yes they tried the hardest they could but my hair looked like a bad blow dry. The girl stood by me when I waz paying which made me feel pressured to tip her but the thing is I was not happy with my hair AT ALL so when I didnt tip she like scuffed and walked away.

But you have to factor in the rent, supplies, utilities, etc. I don't pay for anything like color, product, etc at my salon. I get to go home and have nothing to worry about which is amazing. So for now that definitely not something I want to do :) maybe in the future.

Oh, and you also have to worry about setting aside money for taxes as well. Believe me, I've done my research and talked to many girls who have done it. Almost every stylist at my work has been booth rent before.
