The very basics of the job is protecting a company’s network by monitoring internet traffic coming into or out of the network. Then have figure out if the traffic is malicious or not and take appropriate actions. Also, typically you won’t make 100k starting out… not sure where this guy got this info.

It was hard to make a change because I felt like I would be leaving behind a decent salary (90k+) but it wasn’t that great of money in exchange for killing myself. It helped to have someone offer me a job in IT but I think there are many ways to get into IT with different certifications.

If that's the case than it should fricken count. You've got to pay someone to tell you how to do something!! Unless nepotism/friend/your about to be asulted...then they give you a 'chance' teaching you A&B but not C,D,and E because "you might get confused" aka, you're a threat/not giving them the blow/rim job they want. It's a racket and all to get money so you can responsibly & reliably be a productive member of society until you die.... Spending most of your life wasted and being so envious of the youth that you fight to keep the same/worse systems in place, because how dare they get to live there life. Unless they were born/marry into money....than you gotta be there friends, which should be easy, because they like screwing over others without their privallaged as well. Unless they married into it, then they basically"forget" that if it wasn't for their hubby's family hook ups, they'd still be paying for college..... Run on sentence because I was educated by a public school system that claims I know geometry well and that it was smart to sell hoodies when wearing hoodies is against the dress code.

Yup! And it is all expensive! Just not AS expensive as college. Programming boot camps can be 10k+. For a lot of these jobs you need aptitude for the jobs AND lots of experience working much lower paying jobs. Computer programming is where it is at, but I’m aiming for database manager because my language learning skills suck.

Man I still feel so bummed about how I was offered a apprenticeship in my 20s (with no degree) by the father of my girlfriend at the time who was a successful construction manager. He was offering to teach me everything about the trade, and even talked to me about building a house for us to move into. Was an incredible opportunity, and the father was one of the nicest people I’ve ever met, but unfortunately that relationship didn’t work out and even though he kept the offer on the table, I had to decline out of respect for his daughter. Learned a few years ago that her next boyfriend and her got married, and her dad made the same offer to him, and bought them a house as a wedding gift. Her husband now owns his own construction company, and based on their lifestyle is making an easy 150k+, while I’m still stuck making 50k a year in my 30s. Thinking about it still hurts.

Go to college if you’re academically incline and love to study or do research. A trade school can get you really great high paying skills e.g. micro blading, coding boot camps, machine operator, etc

I am failing, it is the first time I have been on the verge if failing lol. Next semester I am taking a different route, but complex maths or sciences are a bitch. Air traffic control is a very stress heavy job, definitely not something that you can just "do right out of high school" all of the training mentioned for this takes years to complete and there are age limits to this career (if past like 29 you can't even get in the training) Not trying to discourage anyone though, this is a really important job; just find it odd to be mentioned as an alternative to college. Arguably this path is more challenging than a standard college degree.

To get into Power Plant Operator which we call Process Operator you will need a 2 years associates. The job is extremely hard to get because every community college has the degree. Its a good career if you can gain employment.

I just know how things work and how they fit together. Give me enough time alone with something and let me take it apart and I can pretty much figure out how it works. Communication skills are low and actually regressing even further though do to anxiety problems. So that sucks...

What Vincent leaves out about the construction management position is the immense stress. This is coming from someone who is on the design side. You'll typically notice a lot of turnover in the construction industry - that's not an accident. I find it's especially odd to suggest this after watching Vincent's videos about quitting the rat race of finance. A/E can have similarly bad hours, emails at all time of the night, and putting out fires constantly. I know he means well, but whew - Vincent clearly did not perform much diligence before including it in this list.

I’m a construction superintendent and let me tell you there’s a reason I’m watching videos like these. You’re absolutely correct when talking about the immense stress of the position/industry. We don’t get to hang it up at the end of a day or night. Weekends are almost unavoidable and don’t get me started on turnover.. Most people don’t want the stress if they’re not entirely invested in the culture that goes along with the job.

Elevator mechanics makes more than 123k you can make 290k and you need apprentice ship 5 years and work your way up to a jurneyman and you need a state licenses

I do commercial electrical and I can’t imagine doing line work. If you think construction people are rough they’re nothing compared to widebacks. I’ve seen linemen and utility types physically assault their apprentices for making the smallest mistakes or being too slow. The trades are extremely demoralizing and outside of line work or elevator constructors 80k is nowhere near the average pay unless you’re working 65 hour weeks. Stay in the office and A/C , it’s much better than destroying your body for 30/$hr at most and putting up with GCs, violent and drug addicted co workers and cheap ass business owners. The union side isn’t much better either barring a couple of halls in places like Seattle or Portland. I’m speaking from experience. If I could do it all over again I’d get the best office job without a degree I could or be a professional street pharmacist/ “money borrower”.

Another great potential career that people can get into without a degree would be Sales. A lot of entry level positions do not require degrees and with the commission earned people can make 6figure incomes. Of course it isn't easy and it takes a lot of work and grind, but just like anything if you put in the effort to learn and use as many resources like training programs, books, etc then you can make a good to amazing salary.

When I first started working with solar panels it was like Chinese to me these days I’m considered a solar pro I thought electrical was difficult to learn but it’s really not u don’t have to be scared of electricity just respect it at all times wires always go somewhere and stop somewhere so u just gotta figure out the issues from start to end it’s so simple

Solar install is hardly considered electrical. It’s mostly installing rails and panels on roofs. Not hating but just saying … also how’s the 20/$hr treating you ?

@@deezenutzz69 yea if your just doing roof installs sometimes you got ground mounts that involve trenching you got battery’s you got generators sometimes cities require electrical upgrades before solar can be installed so I’ve been doing this almost 10 years which qualifies me a solar pro but I mainly do electrical we have rackers that rack and set panels most solar companies don’t pay by the hour they pay by the watt so I make well over a 100k plus it’s my dads company and will be mine in about 5 more years so I’m doing ok 👍🏼 thanks for asking!

I wish I could keep saving my money for it and do cleaning around the house to comprise and help them. If not, I can only be grateful I have a roof over my head and keep saving what I can 🙂

The only thing I can think of is cosmetology- but that hardly pays well if you don't put a personal spin to it. Nursing, mostly LPN, is both a womans and mans type of deal now but it pays better than cosmetology. You can get a license through a trade/technical school.

Programming requires extensive proof of personal work and projects that display your knowledge. Employers utilise your experience for their own purpose. If you are a programmer, know that its not a long term job, just until you gain the funds to start your own business with your skills and get it rolling.
