Not sure if you've seen it, but Junji Ito's Enigma of Amigara Fault is a classic. It's just short oneshot, but you'll never forget it. It's one of those stories you'll find yourself using as a metaphor or analogy for some other situation years later.

Thanks for the recommendation. It was in middle of the night I read this comment and read the manga. While trying to sleep my thoughts kept wandering and after wandering for while, they returned to the ending of that damn story. 0/5 experience. 5/5 manga

Remina is one of my absolute favorite Ito works. Seeing humanity’s evil be scarier than the actual planet trying to eat Earth is a crazy good twist.

I remember a channel called Horrorshowmickey who did really good narrations of hellstar remina and a lot of other ito Manga, loved these stories ever since.

As much as I would LOVE a big budget adaptation of a story like this, hollywood would deem it too ambitious and pass on it or even try intervening and force a PG-13 rating or add elements that don't fit the story like a romance subplot and a happy ending. They did the same thing to Guillermo Del Toro when he wanted to adapt 'At The Mountains of Madness'. I do hope that these stories are adapted in some way or another because these stories are so fucking good that if done right, a movie could really benefit their popularity.

I'm not sure from what volumes they where from, but I particularly loved "Bully" (fucking terrifying), "Long Dream", the mini-arc about Oshikiri, "City without Streets" and "The Hanging Balloons"

A better adaptation of this would be a dead space adaptation encompassing all three games, because the planet eater is very similar to the brother moons and when he turns those other astronauts into parts of its bodies was similar to the convergence concept as if it's a strange evolution on a multiverse level as if humans were meant to converge into a planet sized mammal, it's a very uncomfortable truth out of left field. I wish there was more back story on it though on the planet sized monster to enhance its mystique.
