Besides the secret ending, the orange orbs also unlock concept art you can view from an extras menu you can access at the world map, one picture per orb collected. There's a ton of 'em and they're really dang cool to look at.

I've recently been watching Tealgamemaster do a walkthrough of this game and now I see you doing a review of it 😁 Nice to see this game get the recognition that it truly deserves. To me this game is a criminally underrated hidden gem on the Ps2. I love this game and still own it to this day ❤ Thank you for reviewing this game Pete.

Not sure who else is talking about Scaler, but I know Tealgamemaster has been playing it on his channel recently and been uploading it daily. He is genuinely loving this game, and it's his first time playing it according to him 😜 The only review that I've seen of this game is from NitroRad and I know he loves his platforming games. Hopefully this game will start to get some recognition, imagine if it got a remake or something, though I doubt that'll ever happen.

I got this game as a kid from the bargain bin at GameStop and it blew my mind. Definitely had it's problems, but the environment/character design of the lizard world totally captured my imagination as a kid. Still does as an adult artist! I think it's really inspired, I haven't seen much like it. I recently scrubbed through the credits for names and looked up some of the artists for the game on art station and stuff, it was a real treat seeing the concept art in high definition.
@Petronious3 жыл бұрын
Why have I never considered looking up the artists online before now?! That sounds pretty cool and I may do the same now you've mentioned it to have a look at it all in HD, like you said!

I couldn't help but think to myself throughout this whole video that this game took a LOT of inspiration from Ratchet and Clank : The environments and level structures, the characters animations, the rail grinding, the "vehicle" segments, the pause menu design etc... The only thing that was missing really was the combat system that actually could've used some of the R&C formula with encounters that feel more natural and don't force you into that unescapable circular arena. The combat kinda reminded me of Sonic Boom (aka the worst Sonic), even though that came out much later.
@Petronious2 жыл бұрын
Yeah its one of those times where I wouldn't have minded it borrowing more from its inspiration, especially the combat. Was nice seeing little ideas appear though, like the wide shots at the start of levels.

@Wrathchild19953 жыл бұрын
Now I think about it, this game does have it's flaws like with the difficulty spikes and those combat sections, but it is a genuinely good time in my opinion. It doesn't really bother me all that much that the story isn't the main focus, although I've never actually beaten this game as I gave up at the General Bootcamp boss with the grind rails, as I couldn't figure out how you defeat him. I was a kid when I first played this game and I didn't really have great access to the internet, so I couldn't exactly look up a guide on how to beat this game. The transformations are cool, but I'm glad that two of them are only used once in the game. Those being the creature that allows you to fly, I'm not a fan of that level at all, and the level where you're able to swim underwater is seriously frustrating.

I take it your copy didn't come with the instruction manual, huh? That's a shame because not only is it a well designed manual, but it also has all the info you need about the characters and story that took place before the game proper. It details Bobby's lizard activism which is... let's just say morally questionable at times and how he ran afoul of Looger and the rest of the lizard people before he was taken to their base at the start of the game. It also has profiles of each of the individual bosses as well as the human forms of those who were only seen as lizards in the game proper. Speaking of the human designs, they're all 2D drawn and sketched in the manual as opposed to rendered. Trust me, even though Bobby's original human form was fugly in the game, it's nowhere near as bad in the manual because apparently some designs just don't translate well from 2D to 3D. Also, the manual has this really nice conciete of being a notebook that got sketched in. If you can track it down, whether through physical means or a pdf, it's well worth a look. Yeah, it kinda went a surprisingly old school route of platformer storytelling in an era where storytelling everything in the games themselves was really taking off, but there you go. It is what it is.
