Crazy how stuff like this is therapeutic for depression. Work, dating, hanging with friends, none of that really helped. Since my mother passed away, I've just wanted out of this world but since CBL, I actually enjoy living. Thank you for helping me detox and find the magic in life.

@@YardaFreeman What brings peace is the mind focused on something that the individual enjoys while letting go of unwanted thoughts. As opposed to a wandering mind imaging all kinds of unwanted scenarios. Anything can be used to focus: chants, breath, a word repeated in your mind, singing, dancing, writing, listening to external sound of life around you. So yes, being dependent upon music isn't ideal, but just using it as another means of focus is fine. Use whatever is closes at hand. I mean meditation is basically focusing on your focus/awareness, haha.

This music is a new discovery for me, but the idea of time as a strange concept really hit a nerve while listening to this. I forget that I am 60, I am still the 20 something whose life was turned upside down by loss. It takes you back, makes time fluid, non existent. Listening to this album reminds me of when I first discovered it in my early teens. I met my first true love while I was listening to this album for the first time, and this album stayed with me throughout our entire 5 year relationship. The track "Frog" in particular was the soundtrack to the first kiss we shared. My childhood sweetheart and I broke up many years ago and haven't spoke since. Although I've moved on and live my own life now, it's strange how this album still holds so many raw emotions, which all come flooding back every time I listen to it. A truly incredible sensation of nostalgia unlike any other I've ever felt before... I still wonder, sometimes, how she's doing and if she's okay. But as with all memories, they can never be re-lived. However, we can thank them for what they gave us, and what they helped us develop into. So in case you ever happen to stumble upon this comment, Carbon Based Lifeforms. I just wanted to say thank you for for giving me a beautiful adolescence. I'll never forget everything you've done. Take care.

@@greatestytcommentatorThat’s an interesting critique. I wonder what she means. Perhaps it sounds to her like long intros that never hand off to an actual song. What we experience as “immersive”, she experiences as inert, or stuck, or frozen. The patent structures of typical “songs”, the cycles of tension and resolution, are absent here, or are stretched to unrecognizability. She may feel that’s missing, and that this music fails to deliver the expected payoffs. She would be correct in all of this, of course, but I can’t help believing she is missing something profound, and might benefit from a relaxation of expectation.

10-13y ago I used to listen to CBL when falling asleep. The albums were usually on loop. In almost every case, I experienced vivid lucid dreams (I woke up and walked around the room, listening to their music whilst watching my body sleeping on the bed). After those dreams, I remember waking up in the morning super rested, like it was the best sleep of my life. Years passed by, I was still often listening to CBL, but not before sleep anymore. Recently I did it again, played Derelicts before sleep, and there it happened again, both to me and my partner. Vivid dreams, body's sleeping, but both of us awake within the sleep and listening. In the morning I shared it with my partner and described the spontaneus geometric colorful shapes I was seeing in front of my eyes, like in the caleidoscopio. And she said she experienced exactly the same. No drugs involved, just the music playing during the night. I mean, there is something shamanic and hypnotic within their music. Something I like to describe as universally good.

Before setting off from Ireland to Germany on a road trip i had recently discovered this music. I decided to use it as my driving playlist for the most interesting parts of the journey with the intention it would imprint the memory and music together. Here I am now 5 years later, back home and listening to this. It worked. It does trigger some awesome memories and adds that slightly melancholic feel to it which the journey had...(Leaving things behind).

Does this kind of music leads you to depression and anxiety when you realize how vast our opportunities and potentials are as human beings floating in this cosmic infinity? It kinda opens my mind so much that i lose my identity and ego in this physical realm, a moment of realization that everything connects to the same thing, circular, over and over again, and yet every next circle opens up new manifestations. Why are we not making any progress collectively?
@joshi35187 жыл бұрын
Stefanos Lalić Social media and a shit education system that only values the people willing to be slaves to the elite company's we are raised to be weak by elites. This is why we achieve little as a collective 🤔

Well if you believe in God then you wouldn't think that way.
@milanstevic84246 жыл бұрын
why? because we care more about what we wear?
@lokihammerfall77815 жыл бұрын
Because spretually we are very weak due to being too much materialistic.
@MrMichiel19834 жыл бұрын
@@DanielFlores-fo1ee I would rather say belief in God exactly makes one think that way. OP mentions the "one thing everything connects to". If that isn't a (one of many) definition for God, I am not sure what could be. But maybe I don't understand, so please elucidate what "God" has to do with the OPs comment that humans are not making collective progress? Do you think belief in God suffices to resolve all the issues in the world. God frowns upon that assumption, I think. It takes hard work to steward Earth and if we fail, it's gone forever. See if God cares about you then, when this world eats you up and spits you back out. See if you still praise it when you get eaten. God told me it is the greatest thing out there we will never meet. Our journey home will take an eternity. Don't let a beautiful belief be the basis of our downfall, though. If your belief in God stops you from actually serving God (working together to improve the world) there is a big gap to be overcome. Please next time, don't stop after saying "but but God", because that's literally preaching to the quire. Explain why you think your thought is correct. As in why you think a belief in God would prevent any of the OPs thoughts. Because for me they don't, rather they're the basis for it. Take care all.

You don't need to understand it. you only need to be it; to change with it and to move flow forward with it. It's not taking any where and it has no destination, and because of that you could never be lost.

Funny how big CBL has been apart of my adult life thus far....I still recall vividly the first time listening to them the summer after I graduated High School in 2011...I was just getting into Psybient/Psychill and the name "Carbon Based Lifeforms" really struck with me so when I ingested morning glory seeds and came to a state of euphoria the whole CBL discography was playing in the dimly-lit room on shuffle. They've been my all time favorite group ever since.

I used to listen to the entirety of the this album on my psychedelic journeys and it would always bring me on the most dazzling trips. There is such a feeling of adventure to this album. Its brought tears to my eyes on numerous occasions. I would eat my mushrooms, turn all the lights off for COMPLETE darkness, turn interloper on and just stare into the dark. It would be so dark that there would be no difference if I closed or opened my eyes. From the darkness would slowly come light and geometry, eventually forming into full on worlds. One of the most insane things I saw listening to this album on mushrooms was transitioning from seeing thousands of ballerinas dancing in the air to flying through a futuristic complex city. These guys make this music for tripping I swear. And they are DAMN good at it! This album will forever be a part of my heart. It will forever remind me of the deep dives into my own mind.

I love this music, I found this some time ago and was attached instantly...I used to run to this music, damn that was and still ist awesome! BUT: the last time I listened to these tracks I was doing Tai Chi, Holy Moly, this nearly made my mind go places...crazy, fluent and powerful, yet soft and easy moves just came to my mind and I was able to let go anything around me and just feel and perform the Tai Chi forms...that was absofrigginlutely next level!!!
