The steam clock is an amazing invention!

My grandfather worked for Gibbs fishing tackle when the steam clock was being built. My grandfather supplied 2 large bronze plates from Gibbs for the doors. As payment, Ray traded a number of rose sculptures, which we still have in the family.

Fantastic job Adam! Thanks so much for sharing this piece of Vancouver's history! You need to go back there and see if the future plans of the Steam Clock were completed 😉

Thanks Audrey! And yes, I was thinking the same thing, I want to see if he managed to get that done!

You're very welcome Adam...great minds think alike. I wonder if Raymond is still living...you can do a whole reminiscing thing. 🤔

He is indeed! I discovered he’d actually been injured in a fall late last year, but had (to that point) still been quite active maintaining clocks (which was actually how he hurt himself, falling from a ladder!). Happily he is very much on the mend. Not sure about a reunion but I did pass along this video to a contact of his.

Adam Abrams I'm very glad Raymond is on the mend! If there is no reunion perhaps you can do a follow up piece of Max climbing up onto the clock...or at least a photo of Max climbing the clock and make Raymond's intention of his design a reality in your photo album? 😉
