This video begins at Edsall Rd. / VA 648 (Exit 2) in Fairfax County, VA and concludes at New York Ave. / US 50 in Washington DC. Along the way you'll see the popular Shirley Highway reversible HOV lanes, the Pentagon, and the tunnels under the US Capitol.
I apologize for the video quality in this video. Like the last one, there was a lot of salt still on the road due to a prior snow storm.

Love the video and the ride, you were so lucky, I have never seen traffic that good along that route, save for crossing the Potomac (That always seems to be sluggish). I especially love the Tunnel complex, it is always a thrill to drive through there.

Great video! Last time I was in the DC area, I did not fully "clinch" I-395, but it is definitely in the roadgeek "bucket list". Thanks for sharing!

Great video, and outstanding editing. Any road video that showcases the governmental buildings of the U.S. automatically qualifies as interesting. By the way, Exit 3B leads to H-Mart (my favorite Korean supermarket chain) and Korean BBQ restaurants, galore. Yummy, yummy, yummy...

@aswchris Thank you, Chris! :-) Actually, a little bit of both. There were a couple of left-lane hogs in this video doing about 45-50 mph on a road where everyone normally goes between 65-80. However, there are some who drive well over that (BMW at 5:51). I believe the speed limit is 55 mph, but hardly anyone obeys it. In the parts where I'm passing people and doing NASCAR maneuvers, I'm doing between 70 and 80.

@FreewayTitan Thanks! I just boosted the contrast levels on the video to get rid of the gray tint that the salt caused.

@CAMINOANDALUZ Thank you! I've got one more DC video that I'll release in the next week depending on when I get done with it. That will probably be one of my last road videos for a while due to escalating gas prices here in the US... >:-{

@necroslair Glad you enjoyed! I believe the minivan had broken down (of all places...).

Extremely useful video. One minor mistake, Seminary Road is Exit 4, not 6. Even still, excellent video. Wish I had seen this when I first moved to the area.

Very nice job! VDOT also wants to put HOT lanes on I-395 as well but is currently being sued by Arlington County on the basis that HOT lanes discriminate against lower-income residents.

@Freewayjim Thanks, Jim! Besides the broken down minivan at 5:00 and a few slow-pokes, it was an easy drive. I've passed through those tunnels a lot and have always seen these luxury sedans and SUVs flying through. I always wondered why until I learned that senators and congressmen cannot be ticketed for speeding if they're on their way to the floor or a meeting. Have to love our laws...haha

@VaFreeways Thanks! That's interesting; I didn't know that. I believe some Orange County, CA residents raised a similar concern about the discrimination against lower-income residents. CalTrans' answer was that they do not favor privileged citizens because "the time you waste in congestion can result in being late for work and even being fired. You can pay a toll and arrive to work faster and on-time." I had to chuckle at that a little. haha

The very large complex on the left in 2:13 is a brand new defense office building. It houses 4000 defense employees and obviously is super secure and fresh. There was a lot of controversy over it because the federal govt just came and built it but the state and local govts have to deal with the excess traffic.

Nice work. Thanks for the ride. BTW, what was that minivan at 5:00 doing in the lane just to your left?

You missed the massive traffic backups from Springfeild to the 14th street bridge. Something to consider if you do a re-shoot of this. I suggest a 7:30am northbound trek on the same section of 395.

@FreewayTitan Thanks! Yeah, the salt is a real pain in the ass. I would have stopped to clean my windshield, but the salt would have just picked up on it again due to the speeds I was traveling. The windshield wipers and fluid would have just left streaks of dried liquid salt if I had used those. Fortunately, the next video around the streets of DC at night has a spotless and clean windshield.

@FreewayBrent Thanks, man! You should like my next video then as I passed by almost every major governmental department through DC at night. I have yet to try Korean BBQ. But, knowing how you swear by it, I'm going to have to locate a place here in NC that serves it.

@CosmoPhotography: Hmmmm, something about North Carolina and Korean BBQ that doesn't seem to go together quite well, lol. I'd probably wait until you make it back out to Los Angeles. I had Korean BBQ in Louisville; meh. :-X

@CosmoPhotography This is just the latest example of obstructionist behavior on Arlington's part when it comes to roads. They fought I-66 inside the beltway tooth and nail and finally when they did build it the result was a narrow 4-lane highway (although that is being widened in some spots).
