Adventure in Cosmoteer as a fleet captain. Destroying a level 16 pirate base.

Was looking at your fleet on the steam workshop and browsing youtube at the same time, when i clicked on this video lol. didn't notice it was the same dude until i saw the name of the ships in the video. Was thinking about trying your ships, but after seeing them in action its a safe bet. cheers!

The fight itself was only 30 seconds, it's all the pausing that made it 20 minutes long! I'm joking of course, and I must say the way you kited that first ship back into your fleet all alone was pretty slick.

Pausing is basically necessary to make strategic adjustments to your ships and do other stuff like that, like abusing weakspots in enemy ships.

Interestingly that base also appears as a faction base to destroy at the 16-18 lvl imperium region. Only took 4 dual rail gun shots.

Possible, it's all randomized as far as I know.

Let me give a quick explanation: Pirate bases can be bases of any faction in the game, seemingly hijacked by pirates and stolen from that faction. This base was in fact a 16-18 difficulty Cabal of Sol base. Imperium are the ones who use nukes, spiky jagged armor details and red and black paint, while Cabal are the ones who have pretty curved details, bright glowy paint and use blasters and ion beams.

So many ships and so much micromanagement. All you need is a full length 600m range railgun to selectively pull aggro and fast reverse engines to kite the bugger out. Then you only need 1 or 2 more fast ship(s) to shoot up the rear of the poor bastard from the flanks. After a set distance, all the enemy ships will turn back and you get free pot shots in the back with a rail gun, and missiles if you can catch up. Even my big ass storage ship with 6 missile launchers can do the job from the flanks. Good use of an otherwise pure logistics ship. So you probably only need 3 good ships. 1 railgunner, 1 missile ship, and 1 disruptor+ion/laser ship. Or just 1 high spec all-in-one 2-barrel railgun ship that reverses at 100m/s. I think I made one with 27 accelerators and destroyed everything in classic. It was the full length of the build grid. I'm aiming for this in grand admiral starwright.

Nice, I read a lot about kiting builds, I tried building one myself, it does wonders. But I like my battles up close and personal, hence the cannon focused ships.

@@inotna2001 , just built a dual barrel 15 accelerator railgun ship because I made enough credits to buy up the tristeel. Had a ton of shields up front and 4 flak batteries. Got 8 HE missile bays too. Killed about a dozen bogeys and 1 pirate base (7-9 zone). Didn't take a single hit from anything. Never fired a single missile either (other than the EMP missile when I was chasing a runner. Kind of took the frustration as well as the excitement out of the game. Grand admiral starwright to boot. Guess I can skip a few zones. I think the next zone I clear, I should have enough credits to buy up more tristeel to make it a quad barrel. Railguns are too OP.

It might look the same but feels very different. If you liked Starsector, you might like this. One big difference is that you have to build your ships yourself (or copy paste from the workshop).

I think the variety and the creativity with railsguns and the Lasers are pretty good already. Im just a bit fucked up by enemys with much atomic bombe because they are so strong

I find that focusing on 1 ship using 1 style of weapon is where most people get the least out of the game. There is plenty to keep some one interested if you work on building a fleet, like attackers and defenders, side and rear flankers, cargo haulers and factory builder ships. It's interesting to find what style of ships that work together to best take out all enemies but I understand that alot of people just don't have the imagination or ingenuity to think outside the box.

What a circus, I think I can destroy this with my only double rail gun from lvl 10. Well, or together with a mini nuker with one rear-attack missile to speed up the process. This guy has invested 10 times more resources and thinks it should be impressive. And he continues to pause when shelling the base, as if his decisions affect something at this stage.

Dude chill, that was my first ever playthrough, I was still learning the game. Of course you can just cheese it with rail-fanning easily. But yes, that was impressive for me at that time.
