@@DreadMakerRoberts yeah, dollarama won't ship to the US 😢 it's cheap enough that it might be worth it to purchase through a 3rd party shipping service...

Woah I always looked at that clay at dollerama and thought about it I was so worried I was going to have to go over budget on my next cosplay (lots of spikes) now I’m stoked to pick this up and some flexi bond

Hi I bought a kids cos clay box set,,it does dry like foam,, and is non stick, it takes a mould very well I actually bought it hoping to make pendents and earrings,, as normal Air dry clay tends to stick to my new moulds, foam clay would be ok for a wall hanging if small, but I like working with it, and it don't stain your hands,, I've even made cold porcelain clay myself, and worked out fine with a slight transparent look to it,, which is what I wanted,,, so done a few experiments and compared it with other clays. Thankyou for your video I was looking for a video on foam clay. Have a great week.

Awesome to hear your journey. Here is a trick@EvilTedSmith gave me. Put the clay in a mold and then put it in the freezer overnight. Then pull out the molded part and let it thaw and cure. VOILA!

@@DreadMakerRoberts Thankyou I will most definitely try that idea,, but I have a shallow seahorse mould,, but because the kids air dry foam mould is none stick, I cant seem to get it to stay in the mould when working with it,, and realy want to use this mould with the clay,,, as I wanted to do each section in the colors of my choice for the seahorse mould,,,I tryed my homemade air dry clay but it stuck to fast to the mould,,,and had to take it out,,, and wash the mould I said a few naughty words it was a right pain,,, just wondering if the bought type porcelain clay would work for it,,, as that what I need help with at the moment,, sorry for long comment, 😊

@@Tiger804 All good. I have not tried the clay you mention. In the end take a small piece (does not even need to be in a mold) and put it in the freezer and then pull it out after a few hours and see if it cures ok. If you can do a small molding test it really will only cost you a small amount of clay and some time...
@Tiger804 Жыл бұрын
@@DreadMakerRoberts Hi its not the curing that I have a problem With,,, its trying to get the clay to fill my mould,,,,,but because it is a kids foam air dry clay ,,, it just don't want to stick to the mould I'm using,,, it it a foam clay and acts similar to the the foam clay that you use in the video, just won't stick to the mould it works with my berry moulds but because I'm using a shallow seahorse mould it won't stick to it to it,, as soon as you put a piece of the clay into the mould it pops out if I were able to get it to stick to the mould so it filled up my mould ,,,,,, then it would be able to go in the freezer for a few hours then thaw and cure!!!! so I know what you mean about putting it in the freezer that's what I mean, like a non stick frying pan nothing sticks to it, same with my mould.

Very nice! This is probably very useful. Flex Bond sounds like its a good way to preserve the elasticity of cosplay, especially armor plates and other pieces. :) This might be a good alternative until I save up to buy a 3-d printer.

It's a little different but it's much tougher. I think with some of your builds it will be a great addition!
@bluefernlove3 жыл бұрын
Careful not to get it wet after it dries out. In my experience, a bit of water makes it degrade somehow. The surface becomes slimy-ish and the color seeps. Not sure if this happens with all brands though.
@thecrazy88883 жыл бұрын
Are there any alternatives to flexbond? Seems like the clay stays flexible cause it's prevented from drying fully. Maybe all we need is a flexible sealer?
@DreadMakerRoberts3 жыл бұрын
There are flexible acrylics you can use. Or platidip spray for sealing.

Thank you for the video! Any recommendation for finding Flexbond in Canada? I bought the clay from the Dollar store thanks to your vid!

Flexbond can be hard to find in less than a gallon container in Canada. Turns out that at Dollarama the "Tacky Glue" in the craft section is the same stuff. :)
