What's the break down time of the pla? I started a jar 2 days ago and I can still see pieces of pla, like it's not breaking down

There is also a health benefit to doing it your way, which is there are not particle debris that requires a mask like with sanding.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I've been using Meshmixer for a few years to create my own 3D parts, and modding STL files of other makers, but was struggling to convert 3D surfaces to cut out of other materials for, just like your example, helmet parts (visors to be specific) Great, another maker has gone to all of the trouble of modelling all of the parts of the helmet, but you don't necessarily want to 3D print everything. Now I'd got as far as generating face groups, and creating thin 3D meshes of a visor. Your tutorial was the missing link - taking that mesh and making a flat pattern for cutting out of PETG sheet. I can't say I was impressed with Punished Props solution, but that's just me.

I hope you are doing better. I feel your pain as chronic patient, who’s self employed and currently bed ridden because his immune system attack his heart for the 3rd time causing chronic heart inflammation. Years ago I had a neck hernia and I couldn’t feel my thumb and I couldn’t play guitar because nerve coordination was disrupted. It was the most frustrating time. Even more than now being forced to lay down and hope till my heart settles again. At least now my hands work. I do tinker in bed with things (as not to go mad). But when you can’t tinker anymore, that’s the worst. And for me it would be a reason to stop going on. If I can’t solder, play guitar or keyboards anymore, screw tiny things together then it’s over for me. I hope you recovered or at least improved in these last 11 months.

Yeah oil paints do take forever. Last year I refurbished (well touched up, it was in great shape) a Vectrex and it had a shallow white gash and I filled that with oil paint. After 3 days I thought it would be dry, but nope still came off. So instead I used shoe polish to refill it. That dries faster. But the great thing about shoe polish and oil is, that they become nice and hard so even for shallow gash filler it works a treat. I learned this from a prop guy when we had a prop and it had surface scratches on it. And he was like: “I’m not going to repaint the whole thing! It won’t be dry before the shoot.” And he got out shoe polish and my engineering brain is like: “that’s not proper engineering…” wait what??? It’s working! 😂 I learned so much from falling into SFX business as an engineer. Where engineering is about making things robust, thinking through every possible problem and solving it. Prop and SFX is: “just get the shot! If you need glue something with gun and if works, it’s good!”

Thanks for that awesome video, but I might need some help: I'm too printing with a 0.8mm Nozzle, on a Prusa mini+. I made similar models to test it out but with your settings (distance: half of the nozzle diameter) it wont slice properly, not in Prusa-Slicer and not in Cura. When I make a model with distances of 1mm it works fine, but I guess thats to big. Any tipps? For me it looks like a slicer problem but since I got similar results in Cura maybe I'm missing something

At home, mine will de-sense my RGB keyboard, and will totally disable it momentarily. It also interfered with my old power wheelchair, causing me to spin out of control in the middle of the street, and did permanent damage to the motor controller. I'm lucky though. Even with concrete board walls upstairs, rebar reinforced cinderblock basement walls, I still had to move my wife's oxygen concentrator to the corner furthest away from the shack to minimize any chance of interference. Intermod is also an issue on these radios.

Please. No. "If you can afford a 3D printer, you can afford a laser cutter" For one i don't have the space for another tool that is the size of 3D printer or larger. If i'm going to have one machine, it's got to be a 3D printer and not a laser. For other how much do you think i spent on my 3D printer? A grand? Try 10 times less. If i need a fit check, i can do a really shitty vasemode print or a single thin cross section quickly enough. Not that quickly, no, but plenty.

It would be good to have a foldable taped construction that you can quickly store and set up. Where the tape is also hinges. Of course tape is not to be taken off, one could have velcro for the spots where the connection needs to be undone for storage.

Drama Queen, yes, the smell is prominent. You DO NOT need a respirator for a few ounces of Methyl Ethyl Keton, Methylene Chloride You could allow the entire bottle to evaporate in a two bedroom home and my sniffer would even cause an alarm If you were to allow it to evaporate in a small bathroom, you might pass out if you didn't have a fan Anyone who took this personally. I just can't stand drama queens. Brother, one of my vids I neutralized sulfuric acid no hood, no respirator just gloves at the sink with a face shield that was dangerous, this is childsplay compared to sulfur gas I could see a 5 gallon or 55 gallon drum gassing off but a few ounces 😂🤣😂 Laugh my ass off! Note: This technique has been used since the 80s for industrial repair of plastic parts no longer in production. Example, machine cover, component box etc 90s kids used it building their models

Just put about an inch or so of acetone pooled at the bottom of a plastic container and then suspend your printed piece above the liquid with the container sealed closed for around 10-15min
